Well ran Ian, it was me that spoke in with you in the white vest. I never got the 3.30 I was looking for, ran 3.37, 2 marathons in 2 weeks caught up with me. Like you I wanted to run honest as you never know when your next London will be. Thanks for sharing a km or 2 with me, I appreciate it!
Well done Ian. Seems we were pretty close. I got you in the background of my video as the lead runners were coming past. Well done mate 3:21 is awesome considering Brighton recently and a fast run there.
Great work mate, I managed back to backs as well, 3,26 at Manchester and 3,25 at London (for the second year running). I'm now back in Perth, Australia, I just look at it as maximising my stay in the UK 🙂
Congrats on your two marathons and thank you. You must really like the Manchester and London marathons to travel from down under. Are you planning your next year as I believe London and Manchester are on the same dates?
@@inmruns I know re clash of dates! Stopped me going for a hat-trick mate! Undecided what to do at the moment, Manchester is cheap to enter and London is via a tour operator and $$$$. (I have family in Manchester so it's been a good way to catch up and do a couple of marathons in the process)
I was red wave, the start was a bit underwhelming compared to yours. First London marathon, loved it, the crowds are so loud and supportive. Managed to knock 25 minutes off of my PB with 3:36!!! The first half was quite crowded and difficult to keep a constant pace with a lot of weaving in and out and narrow parts of the course.
Thanks, mate, and congrats on your personal best. It wasn't easy for sure, and you're not the first person to say this - even the 2:50 pace group faced congestion as well. It's a bit of a victim of its own success with 50,000 runners; it's always going to be busy. Glad you did well, though. Sounds like you had a great run and enjoyed it.
The video I've been waiting for! Cracking job Ian, especially after the incredible time you achieved at Brighton. Really well done 👏 fantastic achievement!!
Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I couldn't really remember what I was doing at one point, so I wasn't even sure what sort of footage I got or even what I was saying 😂
Congratulations Ian! After watching your previous videos in preparation for the London Marathon made this video really interesting indeed. When I worked at the REME Officer's Mess Arborfield Garrison, in the early '90s, one of the chefs ran in the London Marathon, and he brough his medal in to show us all, plus, we all got to hold the medal for a while. Great memories. 🙂
Thanks, Paul. It's good to see how the medals have changed over time. I have to dig out my old ones as well from 1999-2000. Glad you enjoyed the video, appreciate the support.
It's a runner's thing; we all think we could do better. 😂 Regarding an autumn marathon, I'm saving myself for a decent spring marathon, hopefully in London.
Thank you, I'm really glad you liked the video. It's good to get positive feedback! Yes, the couple of pints went down nicely. If I didn't have to get up at 5:45 for work the next day, I would've stayed in there all afternoon. 😂
Well done Sir , after Brighton and now London , talking , filming all the way fantastic , 2 marathons in as many weeks, amazing , thanks for keeping it real showing how tough it is , top man , well done 👍
Don’t often comment on TH-cam videos but great content and great running 👍 congratulations. Subscribed couple weeks ago after watching the Brighton vlog. Keep it up 👍
Well done Ian and great running. Good video footage. I saw you at the half way point - I'd just crossed Tower Bridge and you were running on the other side/direction. I shouted your name but, like you said, the crowd was so loud you wouldn't have heard and now that I've watched this video I can see that you were working through the pain barrier then as well. I managed 4.21.34. My 3rd London and my fastest one so far. Well done on your 3.21.08 - awesome.
That's great, well done on your 3rd London Marathon and the quickest one yet. You must be very pleased. Thanks for the shout, sorry I didn't hear you. It was an amazing day, I hope you enjoyed your marathon and are recovering well.
Great finish to a difficult run, looks amazing, your so lucky. I have watched a few from this year and the noise levels going over Tower bridge are crazy 😂
Great story, Ian. Noticed you've passed 1k subs. Well done on that too. Funnily enough it looked less congested running at 3.10 to 3.20 pace than videos we've seen at 2.40 and 2.50 pace. I wonder why that was?
Thanks, yes, at last! 😂 It was very unpredictable - sometimes busy, sometimes quiet. I did notice it was very busy around the pacers. Almost got taken out by someone panicking because they weren't right on the back of pacer crazy!

Thanks, Andrew. It was certainly tough out there. It was great to chat with you. Well done, you only had a week, so you did brilliantly.
Well done sir 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you

Thank you! I hope your marathon was a good one. Wasn't the support amazing? I have to check out your marathon vlog. It will be interesting to see.
Great video. A real insight into how hard a marathon is. Not just you but also the people around you.
I appreciate that! Glad you liked the video thanks
Very enjoyable and entertaining. Well done👏
Glad you enjoyed it

Great content Ian, I said a few words to you up birdcage walk. Great time considering your Brighton effort. I might have mistakenly said Manchester.
Yes, I remember you, I think. I seem to recall you were happy with your marathon. I hope that was the case, and I'm glad you liked the video.
@@inmruns could have got a bit nearer to 3.10 but happy enough. Where will you run your autumn marathon?

well done on your 2 big events.🏅🏅 that is an amazing achievement. I hope you are recovering well.
Thank you so much! Yes, recovering okay, thanks. Not too sore, considering.
Congratulations and well done. Many thanks for the great video. I hope that you are recovering well from the two epic runs.
Thank you. It was a pleasure to be able to run and film the London Marathon. Glad you enjoyed it.
Recovering ok 👌
Great running Ian. Especially so soon after Brighton.
Sorry I didn't get to see you at the 4 mile mark .
That's okay, mate. It was so busy, all the water stations were working hard. Not an easy job. Well done and thanks.
Well done Ian!🏅. Great video, showing a runners POV on marathon day, captured superbly. How’s the hip?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for saying! Yes, the hip is not too bad now, just a little sore.
Well done mate, smashed it
Thank you!
Congratulations 🎉 on another successful finish and excellent recap of the race. I was one of those in the red group. Cheers from California!
Thanks, I hope you had a great marathon and enjoyed running the streets of London.
Well done mate... Great effort and determination....
Thank you so much 😀
Nice one mate you'll be back next year to do it justice.
Thanks That's what I would like a course PB next year. Fingers crossed I get a place.
Well done Ian!🥳
Thanks! 😃
Well done Ian, great run, you certainly deserved those post race pints! Probably the best vlog you've done, really enjoyed watching. Thanks

Yes, it was pretty tough physically and emotionally. Just so happy I made it to the end.
