I’m so new to this I was hoping it would just grow from the uncle bens, until such time that I could learn about fruiting chambers and substrates. If I have problems with it not fruiting in the uncle bens, what would you recommend? Thanks for your time.
@@oilyblog it depends what species you are trying to grow. If you have seen those Ready-To-Fruit mushroom kits they are grown on the counter and by just misting every so often and they fruit ok like that but for more control over humidity for a beginner I recommend building a shot gun fruiting chamber like this video th-cam.com/video/59bAiZATiOs/w-d-xo.html You can place the uncle bens bag in the shot gun fruiting chamber with perlite on the bottom. If you are growing magic mushrooms then I can see someone putting a “casing layer” made of pasturized cococoir/vermiculite. Otherwise you will most likely receive smaller yields when just fruiting from the uncle bens rice by itself and so you can instead experiment with mixing the colonized rice bag with pasteurized cococoir/vermiculite substrate and fruiting dubtub style for magic mushrooms or if growing gourmet mushrooms mix the rice with pasteurized straw in buckets or containers or whatever you have handy.
Because flame sterilization is more effective. I don’t have room for error so I just use new needle out of the sterile package for each injection so I rarely sterilize needles myself.
Hmmmm im new to this stuff…why dont u need some other substrate like other videos? Also, could i transfer the ready to flower kernels to a tupperware and just fan and mist it in there to grow more at once? Thanks in advance
If you want bigger mushrooms then you will need more substrate to add the rice to. I’m not sure what flower kernels are but yeah you can add the colonized rice to bulk substrate to get a bigger harvest.
You can mix the colonized rice with pasteurized coco coir/verm substrate in a 6 quart dub tub tek and produce a larger and more efficient harvest but this video was just showing how easy it is to grow them from the least amount of effort. Thanks for the question! Hope this helped.
I started mine about 2 1/2 weeks ago but there is still rice showing. Only maybe half the bag is mycelium. Can I inject maybe one more ml into the bag? Or why is there so much rice left? I have followed instructions from the beginning
Not every single bag will work 100% of the times. You have to make more than one bag to have a percentage of success. You don’t need to add more ml, just massage the bag to distribute the colonized rice so it can spread. Let it rest for another 1-2 weeks and it will probably work.

Hi me again, sorry.
I was watching a video where the person was using the uncle bens method, but the mushrooms wouldn’t grow after he opened them up. He then put some stuff on top for it to grow.
If you have seen those Ready-To-Fruit mushroom kits they are grown on the counter and by just misting every so often and they fruit ok like that but for more control over humidity for a beginner I recommend building a shot gun fruiting chamber like this video
th-cam.com/video/59bAiZATiOs/w-d-xo.html
You can place the uncle bens bag in the shot gun fruiting chamber with perlite on the bottom.
@@SporenSprout thank you very much for your help. Greatly appreciated.
Why flame sterilize the needle instead of alcohol sterilization?
Lol flowered kernsls = colonized rice.
Thanks
How hot is too hot fir the myceliym growth?

Do you have to use liquid culture or can you also use spores?
Yeah you can use 1 ml of spore syringe
so i’m confused, wouldn’t cutting the bag expose them to contam? i’m growing for my first time and am confused to how all this works
Once the grain is fully consumed by the mycelium it becomes resistant to contamination, that is why you can cut open the bag when it’s time to fruit.
@@SporenSprout oh got it that makes sense. Thanks man 🤙🏻
Do you mist with water in the fruiting stage?
Yeah a couple times per day
Can you microwave those bags of rice Just to make sure the sterilized?
Yeah that would probably work.
@@SporenSprout , Thank You
Does this work for the fun mushrooms
Yes
are you misting with distilled water?
No it’s just tap water
it’s liquid fungi that I buy and eject into the rice bags ? Asking before I order
I’m confused do you not need a substrate I’m not jusgin just wanna learn?? Ty I. Advance
You can mix the colonized rice with pasteurized coco coir/verm substrate in a 6 quart dub tub tek and produce a larger and more efficient harvest but this video was just showing how easy it is to grow them from the least amount of effort. Thanks for the question! Hope this helped.
That is a cool tattoo on your left wrist, what is it?
Thanks! It is the molecular structure of Serotonin.
How do I get the stuff in the syringe? I’m guessing it’s spores?
You could use a spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. For example you can check my website Sporensprout.com
does it have to be uncle ben’s or can it be other whole grain rices?
Is there any side effect to this like does it grow less mushrooms or does it make the shrooms taste different?
No it’s just easy. You do get less mushrooms though u less you use it to spawn substrate.
@@SporenSproutthan you. I hadn’t broke up the bag during the entire process. Thanks for letting me know!
@@ashleylynch2663 how did it go?
I forgot to tape up the top hole, but it looks like its growing.. should i throw it away?
You can keep it around just to see what happens
