Brian Turner - 'Love' -NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2024

Brian Turner performs his solo piano composition "Love" from his home studio in Asheville, NC. -Submission for NPR's 2024 Tiny Desk Contest.
STORY- "Love" was composed in 2004 for my wife Carrie when we were in graduate school at Ohio University. We were at our little rental house on Lorene Ave. in Athens and I was probably supposed to be studying or writing a paper but I sat down at my keyboard, as I often do when procrastinating. Being newly married and juggling school, teaching, performing, etc.. I had a lot of emotions swirling and this is the product of that.
It came to me very quickly... 30 minutes or less for the framework to come together. I call that a quick download from Big BT (my higher self and composition 'hookup').
When I asked Carrie what piece I should do for the contest she said, "Do what your passionate about". I knew right away which one to record. This one is also definitely a fan favorite.
I plan to make a Giant Desk video in the future...
