Just finished the next-to-the-last clip/appearance above.
I've watched many Letterman appearances on TH-cam (love the Teri Garr ones) and have NEVER been this angry before. He is so stinkin' rude to Bonnie with his constant interrupting and interjections that he thinks prove how quick and witty he is .... I now understand why Cher thought he'd been described as an anus by previous guests.
It was so bad you could see Bonnie's anger and temperature rising to dangerous levels, like she was seriously contemplating walking out on him.
I don't enjoy criticizing Letterman like this as I've watched hundreds of hours of his shows over the years. But Bonnie Hunt deserved far better treatment than this, she is so funny and talented ....
There! I just had to get that off my chest.

Seems to me that Bonnie Hunt should have become a bigger "star". Supremely talented, easy on the eyes, but maybe ahead of her time. She straddled the line between stand-up and sketch comedy in an era when neither was really booming, and they never found her quite the right sitcom to best showcase her, let alone make her a household name. Comedy people know her, at least back then they did, but I fear she's largely forgotten now, especially among the younger folk.

@@reneenordeen9447 I guess some people (who are not worth mentioning) confuse notoriety with success. You & I know Bonnie Hunt has achieved a level of success few celebrities can match.
Films that Bonnie has starred in have grossed literally BILLIONS of dollars, and she's been immortalized in the most popular ride at Disneyland as the voice of Sally Carrera. She's just chosen to focus on voiceover work & not do a ton of appearances to support those films- and I don't blame her! If I could make Pixar/Disney level money without having to sit for wardrobe & makeup, waiting around set while they maneuver cameras and lighting for additional shots, worrying about hitting marks, or spending time on the talk show circuit, why would I bother to seek the limelight?

The late Christopher Hitchens said that with rare exceptions women aren't funny. I know it sounds terribly sexist and his comments caused a big uproar, but he had an interesting point about them not needing to be funny; it was the guy's job to develop a sense of humour in order to woo a beautiful woman. I was in third grade in small town Ohio, called into the principal's office....why?....hell, I through some snowballs at a denfenceless little kid. And he snotted me out to the school. Like...what's wrong with pelting a younger, defenseless little sweetheart with snowballs? Tell me. Anyway, the asshole principal called me into the office. You know, I'm a little third grader...here's the big bad principal. Anyway...true story..he said I had been accussed of....essentially...being a bully. Was I? Probably. Then he assumed the same and asked which hand I threw with. wanting to punish me. So...I held out my left hand. In other words, what is the point? I see you holding out the big smacker. He smacked my left hand. Hard. It hurt. But, sons and daughters...I was a rightie. Hey, I was in 3rd grade. But, I knew at that young age...fuck you. And he, I guess, thought that I wouldn't lie. I remember it to this day. I got him. He smacked the wrong hand. This was third grade. As I walked away with my left hand stinging...I felt like...I got him.

Helpful hint : to avoid having the text lined out, don't use a double dash symbol on each end. (from my experience)

Question: Almost every segment as Bonnie walks on the set, Letterman meets her, bends over the back of her head and talks to her for maybe 3 or 4 seconds before seating her at her chair and then sitting in his own seat.
All this while the audience applauds and cheers.
Then later, when it's time to take a commercial break, he does the same thing all over again; only this time they remain seated as the camera pulls back and then rolls into the commercial.
So my question is, why does he do this every time, and what is he saying to Bonnie? He also did this when Teri Garr made her appearances on the show.
What does he say to them? Inquiring minds want to know ...

Where has she been lately? Seems like I just notice her doing voice over work. Always seemed to me that she was constantly just on the edge of being a massive star. She worked a lot during the 90s, even had her own show but I still think she never got quite where she should've.

fun to see the arc of their on camera relationship, from that first guest spot thru the early cbs days. I know it can be easy to think that what you see on tv is representative of real life, when it's usually not the case. but w/these two making the conversation look so easy, so often, plus w/dave's production company involved w/her tv career... it sure did seem like she was a fave of his.
