I agree with Steve Ballmer that hard work and the other ingredients of success he mentioned are real. But beyond this is the relevance of spiritual freedom. He might not have been conscious of this because he didn't seem to have any spiritual problems. There are many people who are working hard but just getting by. My point is that spiritual freedom is key to having a sense of direction in life. This is the line of thought in WHAT THE JEWS KNOW by Bode Jackson which I agree with.
The way and rate by which politics footballified the American psyche is dizzying. It has become so tribal many Americans are not thinking about the policies that will impact their lives favourably. No matter how many times experts use statistics to explain progress the bottom line is racism and intolerance of others. As a foreign transplant in this country, it is shocking to see what the country has become. Once upon a time, ANY America would open their doors to foreigners without query whatsoever. But that changed when the government started inventing more in immigration while neglecting its citizens under the hospices of its humanitarian responsibilities. I understand those drawn to Trump despite his fantastical lies and moral deficiencies, because he acted as if he took them seriously while in fact Biden have more in common with many of them.
