  • Welcome to a new video on how to set up water pump in Aquarium for the beginners. Most of the pumps comes with leaf let on how to install a fish tank pump but the one i bought on ebay didn't. I followed the display picture on the carton and assemble the water pump accordingly. Submersible pump assembly is really easy and you can't go wrong. Follow the instructions in this video and you will be able to assemble any aquarium pump yourself.
    Also don't forget to explore other features that comes with the pump like aerating the aquarium if you do not have an air pump or an aerator. Which increases the oxygen level in the water and releases carbon dioxide. Beneficial bacteria, any live plants and especially the fish all thrive on this oxygen in the tank water. Also the movement in the top layer of aquarium increases water oxygenation and both these features are very handy if you are using a salt water tank or keeping any type of warm water fish.

      You are most welcome Michael, now you don't have to use an air pump and get benefits of aeration from you pump. You could always attach a tube and release bubbles anywhere you feel like in the tank.

    • @Fishaholic

      Most of powerhead has a small inlet to connect air tube. It take air and pump in out in the form of bubbles. Does the same job as air stone.

    Hi! When I installed an air splitter to the pump adaptor, water starts to backflow into the air intake hose. Does that really happen? Is there a work-around to avoid the backflow (like use a check valve?) Or should I just get a separate air pump and attach the air splitter there instead? Cheers!

    • @Fishaholic

      Yes if it is connected to the filter to keep beneficial bacteria alive. If you add it to the tank for water circulation then it doesn't need to be ON the entire time.

      Cotton will work as mechanical and biological filtration. It's a good addition but check it weekly and fortnightly to see if it catching debris from the tank. In that case you will have to clean it in aquarium water so it doesn't clogged up.

    Can I connect co2 to the air bubble pipe?

    • @Fishaholic
      @Fishaholic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried it but pressure might be bit high though as it sucks air compare to just pushing it out. You can always use an air stone and push it inside the inlet to spray CO2 out, works well with internal filters.

    • @Fishaholic
      @Fishaholic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try with connecting air tube to air bubble pipe and then split air tube into 2. One end goes in the CO2 and the other end free in the air. Attach a check valve to the end that is free in air so CO2 doesn't escape the system. This might work, give it a go and see how you go Dean.

    is there any difference between a filter and a pump?

    • @Fishaholic
      @Fishaholic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, how are you doing. A pump is only use for pumping water. Aquarist use it to pump water from the tank to a filter. All the mechanical and biological filtration happens in the filter and then clean water flows back to the tank due to gravity if filter is located above the tank. Some pumps comes with filtration and they are called internal filters (pump and filter in 1). Hope this helps.
