    America needed an EV crossover "thing" that rides comfortably. Teslas without air suspension are bouncy, as are the Mustang Mach-e and Polestar 2. I'd love to test drive this car. I sat in one at the LA auto show, and I really liked the interior. Feels very spacious and modern.

    • @lawnmowerdude
      @lawnmowerdude 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So, I have owned a 2021 AWD Mach-E First Edition for nearly a year. I absolutely love the car. But, I purchased my wife a 2022 Audi e-tron quattro premium plus vehicle, and now find any excuse to borrow her car on the weekends. Just a beautiful vehicle with awesome power, handling, and interior styling. Having said that, the price difference was $20,000. So although I believe EV producers should strive to make affordable vehicles for all, you have to acknowledge that there will be a tradeoff in quality, performance, ride, and build.

    This is the first EV car that really has caught my eye! It’s so good looking! Gives off a retro, Audi-like hatch rally design.
    It’s so good looking in my eyes that I recently went to my nearest Hyundai dealership, and just test drove one today. I’m a die hard manual sports car guy, but if I had the ability to buy an EV car for the city, this would be the car I would get!
    I test drive an AWD SE model. To say the least, I loved it! Exterior is banging looking, but the interior is so nice! Ergonomics are very very good. The sport settings are at your thumb, placed perfectly on the steering wheel. The steering wheel paddles are perfect to adjust the braking system. The screens are beautiful. Suspension was amazing, it was quick, and the car didn’t feel too heavy or big (despite it being heavy and big). It’s the perfect EV vehicle IMO, except for the range rating. I wish it had a 400 mile range. That’s the only gripe I have about it. Love the car!!

    Just took a test ride of Ionic 5 SE AWD in NJ. I have to say, the ride is pretty sweet and the torque is great. The car looks small from outside but is very spacious on inside. HOWEVER... one bummer is going to be the dealer. They told me all vehicles will be priced MSRP+$5,000. Non negotiable. Which means the bottom line price of car is more than an ICE after any Federal and/or NJ State incentives (if any) .....no point in going EV then other than to cut on emissions.

      Hyundai dealers mark up the price of anything popular, not just EVs. They did/do that with the Palisade. The point of going EV is all the advantages. Smoother and quieter, less maintenance, better safety, more space inside.

      @@guylr7390 As I mentioned elsewhere, even with the North American (U.S., Canada, Mexico) market being Hyundai's biggest market, we always end up getting short shafted on options, colors, features etc. Overseas they also get the passenger seat leg risers, we don't. It drives me nuts that manufacturers do this.

    Informative review. Very much appreciated the details provided on the different sizes of motors, tire sizes, batteries, programable back theme colors and etc. The best thing is it charges in 18 minutes at (CCS from 10-80%) and is priced below the key competition, which is surprising.

    No wiper on the back windshield is a show stopper for me. Backup cams are great, but it can be hard to see what's behind that massive C pillar, even with a cam back there. I live in Edmonton and most of our winter involves sloppy roads wet with snow and sand, and I'm constantly using my rear wiper / washer to keep the back window clear. I can't imagine how often I'd have to get out to hand wash the rear windshield if I owned this car.

    Great review Alex. You sold me on the Ionic 5. I’ve driven a Mach E. I thought it was a lot of fun, even the fake engine noise. I would generally go with the more sporty handling car because I have just regrettably unloading my Golf R, arguably the best car I’ve ever had. I also drove a wheel rear drive ID4 at the beginning of 2021 and found it to be disappointing mainly because it was slower and Han my BMW i3s. That being said I have owned about 15 Volkswagens in my 68 years and I’m looking to score an Eos for the summer. My first exposure to that vehicle was in the south of France. It was never widely distributed in the US for some reason. I was getting prepared to order a Audi Q4 which is the better appointed version of the VW. While my Jetta is in the body shop I was given a loaner that is a little Hyundai Kona. It’s actually very fun to drive but it’s under powered, but The shift the automatic does allow one to stay in the optimal gear. Fuel economy of course is really good for a gasoline vehicle.

    You know where these flat load floors since there's no drive shaft they could easily put three seats in the front like a bench seat kind of like a truck have a console that flips up to a seat that would be really nice to be able to carry six people occasionally if needed.
