So Rhyme asked what the benefit is going first, and I want to chime in about that. Going first allows for certain advantages. For example, you can evolve first. Certain cards in the game that are Stage 1 evos have a 1 energy cost attack, and those cards are supposed to be for going first. This greatly benefits cards like Exeggutor EX who has a 40-80 damage attack for 1 energy, or Rapidash who can deal 70 damage with 1 energy with Blaine. Misty decks can also use the first turn to get some energy first turn with Misty if they're lucky, and attack. As demonstrated in the first game, if an opponent's Active Pokemon is KO'd but you have no Benched Pokemon, you automatically win. So with the aforementioned cards going first, you can potentially KO the opponent's Active quickly (since many non-EX Basic Pokemon have 70 or lower HP) and get a fast win. Even if they have a Benched Pokemon or an EX Pokemon with more HP to survive the attack, the damage and/or potential quick first KO puts the opponent on the backfoot and pressures them to respond. Now, in general, I would say that it's indeed more of a benefit for most decks to go second. However there are decks that are fine going first, or even want to go first, and the cards I mentioned before are examples.
I'm 100% with Rhyme on those coin tosses. It's been absolutely destroying me when my opponent gets a near-100% guarantee on em while at best I've been getting near-0% success on 50/50s.
I’m here to say that the pokemon TCG right now is not even close to coin flip based. Right now it’s how big can you set up your board turn 1 and how much can you thin your 60 card deck so you can just bonk your opponent
Yesssss more pokemon pocket content! Going first can be good for water decks running misty, as they could attack first that way. Also, you can red card your enemy first turn.
The strat i did was i started my account over and over again until u get a couple cards worth keeping then worked my way up from there. But 300 cards in and not having a good deck is insane. That’s crazy bad luck
@tuff360 Only thing close to cohesive is I have a mewtwo deck in the making. Bleh I know. But I have the full gardevoir engine. Just never pulled a single mewtwo.
@@TheOneTrueRayMan damn I ain’t even tryna flex but I got 3 mewtwos now 😭 and I pulled the one with the gold background jus today with the free packs. If u haven’t spent any money I’d definitely restart that account
@@TheOneTrueRayMan I’m level 15. I spent a lil money tho. But what u wanna do is 1. click the 3 lil lines at the bottom of the screen once u open the app 2. go to other 3. click account 4. Delete save data. Then u can start over.
5:06 Nah it’s just this game. In Live you can play with the full rule set and every card but there are 60 cards in your deck and EVEERY CARD EVER in the game. So it’s really crazy but only on that game does going first with energy in your hand actually benefits you unless your setting up Edit: BTW I’d LOVE to see you take a crack at the other. It’s honestly amazing. I’ve only been playing BOTH these game for about almost 3 week now since my birthday on the 2nd and TCG Live it’s extremely addictive and satisfying. I got the promo Infernal Reign Charizard Card IRL so that’s my favorite hand. Edit:X2 And I’m Super excited and needing our because their making trainer cards again like misty, Brock, and team rockets cards again with the OG broken abilities. And they teased the R for team rocket so we might even get things like Dark Pokemon again. This is SO huge because the abilities were so good that some like Zororoak’s Trade are now back on their Pokemon cards which were so good they were on GX Pokemon. It’s going to be INSANE in 2025 😅😁
The Starmie Ex deck is insane as well. Just a stage 1 evolution with 2 energy for a 90 damage attack as well plus a free retreat. One of the better decks out there.
Great sets lotus and rhyme my friend idols and inspiration. You guys continue to grind building your TH-cam careers and communities you both are amazing plus this game looks so dope and brings me back to childhood. Love watching your streams and content keep it up love yall happy Friday god bless stay safe and healthy ❤
The Pikachu deck is actually insane. It’s pretty easy to load up a board with electric types so it’s almost a guaranteed 90 damage with only a two energy cost. You basically blitz your opponent to win.
Going first works for my budget gyarados deck when the conditions are right. If I get a magikarp/ snom and the evo in hand + a misty I can possibly there is a possibility I can steamroll my opponent.
Speaking of Gengar ex...the full art one is even better...in fact all the full art cards are fantastic...my favorite gotta be ma boi Nidoking...been loving the Nidoking/Nidoqueen deck with Weezing as support...the Nidoqueen full art is adorable too...with the baby Nidoran around her
basically Rhyme needs to understand that you only need enough energy to attack, doesn't matter if it's still the first turn, if Afro used Misty to do the turn 1 cheese, he's prolly using a Lapras deck.
So for a tip for ryme in mewtwo its better to not use hypno, because you want the best chances to get mewtwo in your starting hand, and you always get a basic, so put gardevoir line and mewtwo now 50% chance to get what you want
Great analysis, thank you! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
It’s not 50/50 on coin flips since it is technically skill based throws. I battle someone and all they get was head unless it was the automated coin toss, now those are 50/50.
I run Arcanine Ex, 2 Flareons, and 2 Moltres Ex but omg I get bricked alot, I've been trying to get Hypno and that Pikachu so I can run 2 but no luck lol
Only way todo fair battles is using different decks for each battle and because how quick battles can be. best out of 5 because then deck luck build typing no one can complain too hugely 😅.

Rhyme just sucks at every game doesn't he 😂 Nah jk but you're gonna tell me COIÑ FLIPS aren't "just Pokémon”? Because they definitely have always been in there. Since base set 1
no chance this guy just said gengar has never been good in the games 😂that's crazy also yeah, pikachu ex is far and away the best deck in the game right now. so much so, that you can run a ton of different variants and they're all still better than everything else lol. it being a base form that you're essentially guaranteed to get every game, along with being low energy, is just too strong right now. other decks have to waste time evolving, drawing evolutions, stacking 3-4 energy, etc... pikachu just starts swinging and knocking everything out 😂
@LotusAsakura I know this could be insanity but would you do random battles on stream... good thing woth private matches is even if viewers don't match you they'll match with another viewer, everyone can have matches.. could show you more than just meta decks
The primary advantage of going first is field set up... That's why it's smart to have some sorta tank or high hp mon of some sort so that you can set up your bench. If you could setup first, and attack/gain energy, first would be broken. This also depends on your deck speed as well. Pikachu is a fast deck speed so yea it benefits going second but Mewtwo is a mid to late game, so it needs to go first to set up.
@@kazkatgamer6722 that still doesn't make any sense, if your deck needs extra time to set up it makes more sense to go second so you start staking energy before your opponent. The turn2 player can do all the same stuff the turn1 player can on their first turn plus the added benefit of placing energy and attacking sooner, this is exactly what just said would be broken. They actually have it backwards so you can't play a energy on turn 1 but you can attack if can get energy, so you only get the benefits of going first if you play misty. The way they current have it set up gives all of the advantage to t2 and leaves t1 trailing behind in both energy and damage despite going first. It would be more fair if t1 can place an energy but can't attack.
Not Lotus using the Gogeta Blue equivalent of Pocket 😭😭

I run a water deck with Laprax EX and Starmie EX. First round kills happen often due to Misty and I caught a few people with it lol

Yeah going first only benefit i've seen is you get to evolve first. Getting a solid stage 2 that only needs 1 energy could set the tone
He really hoed Rhyme with this pikachu deck with slight diff
Also, the Pikachu deck is a direct counter to Mewtwo's engine lol

You can attack first turn with misty.
