Yes, a few years back in Limerick's semi final against Galway a point for Limerick was disallowed by Hawkeye. It was clear to all that it was a point for Limerick. Hawkeye was set for footbal not hurling. Galway won by a point. They refused Limerick a replay.

GAA need their money back, this is farcical. Last weeks Hurling game had some dodgy calls too. Dump it.

I think it started with Hawkeye only checking a score if the ref or umpires call on it. But it has changed so that Hawkeye checks every potential score, whether it is needed or not. That should not have happened in my opinion. Hawkeye should only be for where the umpires are unsure

The issue is that Hawkeye right now has permission to effectively tap the ref on the shoulder and change decisions that all the officials were originally happy with. It can even do this after play has restarted! The GAA have not fully thought through the consequences of this.
And, what's worse, it appears that rte television footage was used to help the referee reverse this decision in the Galway Derry match. That means we just had an impromptu VAR in a gaelic football match, and no one batted an eyelid!
If fairness is so important, as Pat Spillane says here, then weren't Derry entitled to a similar VAR review of the decisions that went against them in the match? That would not have been workable, so why was it fair for Galway to have this one bad decision reversed?
It's crazy stuff. The sloppy rulebook, and the disinterest in improving it, is the cause.

Conor Glass scored one as well in first half ruled out by Hawkeye. Why were galway awarded a point and Derry weren't?

For this one it was clear and obvious that it was between the posts. Glasses one was over the post. It was too close to call, so we just trusted Hawkeye. I do sympathise with you tho

Not a Derry or Galway fan. The refs decision was changed well after play had been restarted, opening a can of worms.
Refs in other sports call on tools like hawkeye and var to make a decision BEFORE play restarts for obvious reasons, the tool shouldn't call on the ref, and certainly not after the game has already been restarted.
The tail is wagging the dog here. If TV replays can be used to change decision on a point after the fact, what about goals or red cards from earlier in the same game, how far back can you undo the play, and shouldn't time be removed while you undo the play or correctly added back on to ensure the correct number of minutes are played?
