it was 10 extra spdef on mzam from oras to sm, game freak must have messed something up because zam was the only mega that didnt get +100 bst through mega evolving, getting +90 instead, so they fixed that in sm
I love the BW style sprites for gen 6/7 Pokemon so much. While the 3D sprites are perfectly palatable, there's so much *charm* to the "peak DS graphics" style that the newer Pokemon still translate incredibly well.

if your still wondering about the clef item, i think its either sticky barb or rocky helmet sticky barb is a tech taken from ss ou where clef first knocks off the items of the opposing team, then punishes contact moves such as uturn by passing on the barb both are cool techs to chip down mons like defensive lando or celesteela to assist mpins and band kart in breaking hope this gives you a better insight into the structure of ojamas team
Pretty sure Empo won from the end position anyway. You always attack into that mega pinsir to ensure you don’t lose to it Swords Dancing. If it does QA, then you go into steela afterwards, take the cc and you wall kartana afterwards.
Close combat crit from pinsir mega might put celesteela in range on choice band kartana sacred sword (252 Atk Pinsir-Mega Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 28 Def Celesteela on a critical hit: 212-250 (53.4 - 62.9%)) Even through the 2 protect leftovers regeneration. It was at a clear advantage for empo but definitely not over
@@Altthiel that doesn’t matter though, empo just needs to go to ttar on pinsir, if empo ccs then celesteela kills it with flamethrower and even if crits happen alakazam just kills kartana. If ojama doubles back to kartana on the ttar that doesn’t matter either, the ttar gets sacked and sand ends, so zam comes in and just kills kart and celes can deal with pinsir.
@@Altthiel there is no right play. Empo is known for using scarf ttar on balanced teams like this and he already sent it out against pinsir once that game.
Doesn’t sand + poison kill even if ttar isn’t scarf? Pinsor at 64, you take poison once by sd ing into ttar, twice when you attack, thrice as celes protects and another time as pinsir attacks celes, that’s 4 turns taking 18% a turn so pinsir dies and zam beats kart. Ig pinsir can still switch out predicting celes protect and then it comes down to either cc or knock critting
If it was indeed a ScarfTar that outspeeds Mega-Pinsir (as is suggested by Turn 46-47), then the endgame move is to go hard ScarfTar as Mega-Pinsir comes in to revenge Mega-Zam: The likely clicks are either QA or SD for the Mega-Pinsir, which is then forced out into Kartana as ScarfTar clicks Crunch (or any move that can KO the Mega-Pinsir). Sack the ScarfTar to Kartana, go into Mega-Zam (comes in at 16% after rocks, so it should be able to take a turn of toxic+sand?) to revenge it, and the Kartana is pretty much forced to stay in. Sack the Mega-Zam to Pinsir to deny SD and win with Celesteela. If the Mega-Pinsir, for some reason, goes for CC as ScarfTar comes in, then Celesteela comes in and claims a KO on the spot with Flamethrower, which will be cleaned up by Mega-Zam even if Kartana somehow muscles past the Celesteela (maybe after the Mega-Pinsir chips it). It's a fairly similar situation if there's a double to Kart after Mega-Pinsir gets sent in after the ScarfTar is sacked to Kartana. Hopefully I'm not making myself look stupid by overlooking something obvious here. Great vid!

when switch moves are chained repeatedly (torn uses uturn into rotom who uses volt switch into lando who uses uturn into magearna who uses volt switch into torn...you see a lot of it in ss with boots and teleport)
My first impression was that Kartana would most likely be z giga impact to punch through zapdos for pinsir, turns out by the damage it's band which I suppose also can get the job done with rocks potentially
I ran some calcs, and it seems that even if ttar wasn't scarf the win was almost assured. If he stayed in with zam on pinsir to prevent sd, celesteela would come in and be at 66%, and take 31% max from jolly close combat and 34% max if ada, leaving it at 35% or 32%, then gaining back 6% after the flamethrower kill. He would then protect and get back another 6% when kartana comes in, and banded kartana does a maximum of 42% with sacred sword

they messed up cause they used bw zam as a base which had 10 less points in spdef than xy zam
