    The best, most useful video on the Peak Design backpack. Thanks mate. Earned a subscribe. I'll add a tip/warning #8. Never lock your cat in the same room as the bag. Cat urine is difficult to wash out of the fabric. You'll need to have it professionally cleaned.

    I actually put the bottom divider closer tot he bottom of the bag and put my two Peter McKinnon Variable NDs in there (they fit great), got an extra divider and stuck it in the top to give me a bottom for the upper compartment so the lenses on the second divider are safe inside a closed area. Thanks for the tip on the lens cap spot and the fold-over action on the top flap. Very helpful.

      T Etherton Honestly, I think it's overpriced. If I lost it right now I'd probably consider a cheaper bag, but the peak design really does offer unique modularity. I'll make sure not to lose it..

    If you leave space below the first divider, you should only load covered stuff there, shouldnt you? Its not padded at all then..

      Iriana and Anthony I am skinny!... but also rather tall, which is why I got the 30l. To my knowledge the 30l is just a taller version of the 20l. Hope this helps

    im on the fence about a new bag. im not a big camera guy but i do have a dslr but only a wide angle 35mm lens so it never really gets separated from my canon 40d. I want a bag that does it all and will last forever. Everyday use and the straps being able to use the external carry is what has me super interested in this bag. I want the 30L since it isnt that big of a price difference and I can have a max capacity. The other bag i was looking at is the Nomatic travel bags www.nomatic.com/pages/nomatic-backpack and www.nomatic.com/pages/nomatic-travel-bag. I honestly like the quality of this bag more but I want to hear your suggestions if you can help make my decision. Price does matter but not as much as functionality. Thanks!

    • @NL0Gwenster
      @NL0Gwenster 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I`ll answer this for you. I have the 20L version of the backpack myself instead of the 30 in this video.What i can see about the 2 bags you proposed is that they generally seem to be more meant for stuffing random sized objects inside (shoes/folded clothes etc.) along with a laptop and/other rectangle shaped things. It seems like if you put a camera in there it'd just flop around wildly unless padded with say clothing. Not ideal for a DSLR carry if you ask me.
      The peak design can be configured for carying odd-sized stuff (i.e my large Sony wireless headphone case which is bulky) as well as your DSLR without the DSLR being swung around. So out of the 3 I'd say the Peak design for this reason.

    • @tonygobran8975
      @tonygobran8975 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      NL0Gwenster Yea you're right however I was mostly saying that I don't usually carry my dslr but it's good to know that if I want to carry it, it won't be a problem. Thanks a lot

    One thing that's also great about this backpack: It can just stand stable. It's so annoying if your backpack always falls over.

  • @dannelalbert7111
    @dannelalbert7111 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    To tip #7, I would add, "Always make sure the side compartments are *closed* before you put the backpack on." I haven't dropped lenses due to both sides being open at the same time, but I mistakenly thought a compartment was closed and my Canon 100-400 took a tumble bad enough to break the image stabilization. It cost me around $500 to fix + the time being without the lens, but when it happened I was just about to go on a birding tour. The lens itself worked, but the lack of IS probably cost me a few good shots as this was a tour where I was shooting from a riverboat. I really wish Peak Design had a built-in way to secure lenses to the bag :|

    One tip: think about what lenses you are likely to be using and put them all on one side. Nothing worse than trying to exchange lenses when this involves accessing one side and then the other. Now suppose you put most of your camera stuff on the right side. It is still possible to access stuff on both sides of a "shelf" from the right side if you use the dividers on the right hand side rather than the left hand ones. Then when you swing the bag around, the two items are stacked, one on top of the divider and one below. To access the item below, you can take out the top item and flip up the divider to access what is beneath. But if you need something below the left hand divider there is no way to access it from the right hand side.

  • @joits

    yeah you can't be forgetful with the PD Backpack. Due to the design, if you forgot to zip up one of the sides, it still looks like it's closed... until something falls out of your bag like my 85mm f1.8, which now has a crack in the plastic casing of the lens, but thankfully still works.
