    The problem with ear buds is pressure on descent in a flight. Good ear buds seal the ear and ears cannot balance or equalize. I like the way you pack and using different pouches.

    For a previous job as a photographer and filmmaker, I traveled 25 days a month for five years. What I've learned is to have redundancy, get rid of unnecessary weight and have a backup plan in case you are forced to check a bag (small puddle jumper planes require all rolled luggage to be checked as there are no overhead bins).
    Currently, I use a ThinkTank Roller Derby as my carry-on roller. Combined with a Peak Design Large Camera Cube for storing my camera gear. I use a Peak Design 45L Travel Backpack and all the packing cubes, tech and wash pouches similar to what Jimmy mentioned in this video.
    If I'm required to check-in the ThinkTank Roller, then I swap the contents between the backpack. It takes less than 10 seconds. Then I carry the camera gear in the backpack with me on the flight.

    Neat that you carry the PD sling but it’s just too bulky same reason I opted out on Patagonia atom and went with ultralight black hole sling.

    I have an AER day sling (I think is the day sling) and I have been struggling when I travel and want to take my sony camera and a few lenses. I don't use it or carry it all time when I travel but I want to start bringing it more. That peak design sling might be perfect.

    Hey thanks for suggesting the Synology BeeDrive. Now I have something else to consider. I alse like taking a DSLR on a trip but like to know that I can offload my data to an SSD. What I was planning to use was a OTG Hub that will allow my phone to facilitate transfers from the SD card to larger thumb drives. But I like how small the BeeDrive looks. Oh, and nice editing. You have a chill vibe but still very engaging.

    It's easier to carry a backpack that has structure even though heavier than a flimsy one especially if you are carrying a heavy load.

    I recently took my Canon R5 for a trip, and I'm thinking about leaving it behind next time.
    It's just too clunky and cumbersome for off the cuff photos while traveling. Not only is there all that time and effort to get the settings right, but also there's a new threat of theft. If you're not using your phone -- you can just pocket it. But you can't pocket a 5,000 dollar camera, and you have to set it somewhere if you don't have all the straps. It's just another thing to worry about.
    I try to keep my cellphone upgraded almost yearly to have access to the best camera tech, and my last trip, 80% of my photos were taken on my phone.
    That's not to say the Canon R5 was a waste of a purchase. I get lots of use out of it in the office at home, and for product photography where I can control all the settings and I own the building where I can store all the equipment. But for travel, it's a real pita.
    I like to think of myself as a photographer, but I'm never going to be the kind of techie who carries a bunch of camera equipment.

    With the camera, can't you just send the photo to your phone from the camera? I can do that with my Fuji? I have definitely seen more people start using dedicated cameras more than just their phones, and I've been asked by family to get nice photos as I have a dedicated camera

    I always bring wired earbuds since it's best to always have a backup. Wireless earphones or earbuds need charging; in most cases, their battery can drain after a whole day's use. Plus, connection issues, so it's better to have a wired option.

  • @dmp4096
    @dmp4096 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If I am flying, yes, noise-cancelling headphones are a MUST HAVE… But… I have found that the earbud route is not what I prefer. First, they aren’t as good at noise cancelling as a full set of cans. And that is compared to a set of older Bohm B-76 cans! Second, people do not look at your ears to see if you’re engaged and just start talking to you. When you have a set of cans on your ears, they notice. So I tend to take my full cans…

    Did you ever have any problems putting the 30L backpack underseat? Any snarky flight attendants raise any eyebrows?

      Can't speak about his experience, but I've never had a problem with mine on a flight. I just don't like it because of the top loader design.

    • @SailingSabaiSabai
      @SailingSabaiSabai ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IMHO 20L is a much better size for travel, that and a carry on with proper packing can last you months. I travel extensively for work in aviation often with two laptops work and mine with an ipad. One laptop goes in sleeve in carry on the other and iPad goes in 20l every day. Also in there is a down puffy, rain jacket, belroy toiletry pouch, sunglasses, etc. Less is more.

      @thepkeezy ปีที่แล้ว

      I bring a 40 liter Patagonia Black Hole bag as a “carry on” all the time. No one has ever told me anything. However, do not confuse that with the 2nd item that many airlines allow you-which is the “personal item”, that’s very different. 20 liters is about the max for a personal item, you could maybe get away with 30, but I don’t have that experience. I have experienced times where airlines were super strict and actually had to check people bringing the appropriate sized bags.

      @@kamilk6807 I've got my minimalist bag for just one body and one lens for when I want to keep things simple, but when traveling I try to take the most out of my trips, so it's always better to have a few things things you might not need than need a few the things you might now have 😅😅👍
