Yupo paper - What is it... why bother
In short: Yupo paper is not normal paper. It has a mind of its own and will give its input to your artwork without asking. Unless your using pencils that is.
Good for artwork that has abstract alcohol inks everywhere.

An Idiot and his cheap art supplies
มุมมอง 1.3K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
I've been on a stupid quest to find cheap art supplies. And I'm not even talking about good value. I had lost sight of the pursuit of good value art supplies and ended up considering cost as the only factor that was important. I have spent money on expensive pens but often I don't spend the right amount of money on the consumables. After making this video I'm starting to wonder if I've made a f...
My illogical apathy towards making digital art
มุมมอง 2.9K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
So I sat down to draw on my computer in an attempt to make something of quality. And then I found myself wishing I was somewhere else… like in front of a piece of paper for example. Once again in the beginning of the video I sound like someone who is about to fall asleep. Well MAYBE I AM! Let’s pretend that is a reflection of how excited I am about drawing digitally. Lots of scribble searching ...

The winds swept across a vast endless expanse of sand. Resulting in rolling dunes that grinds whatever remained of the last civilization into dust. A lone traveler pulls something out from the debris. A book. He opens the book wondering what advanced knowledge his ancestors have left behind... It's your sketchbook...

The best kind of refillable pen
มุมมอง 2.4Kปีที่แล้ว
A rough summery ( which is about as long as a summery can be) as to why I think the fountain pen is the best kind of refillable pen. I have problems with every other kind I know of. I videoed this on a really cheap usb camera. So easy. I think I'll do it again.

AI coming for your humanity (A crazy anti-AI art rambling rant)

It shouldn't be called AI generated art. It should be called AI digested art. No wait... It shouldn't even be called art. Is it art to steal a painting out of a museum? Is it art to eat a burger that you wanted when someone else made it?... Ok I lost myself on that last analogy. Now I'm rambling in the comments and I've done enough of that. There is another 14 minutes of rambling in the video.

And that's why I do digital arts. Lots of drawing tablet stands or using just a separate display to draw on from a drawing pad and never look down again. I've seen large pen displays propped up in standing desk setups with monitor arm stands at chest level and it looked RLY comfy Also, instead of VR, you could get those massage tables where you lay flat on your belly, face in a cushion, and then you can draw like that

I think that carving the nibs hole would reduce the swelling to a manageable level. Since there is less material that can push the nib apart. allowing the sides to provide the structural strength.

Seems interesting, like a textured whiteboard. If you can indeed scrub it clean after uses, it could maybe be useful for making pieces you don't want to keep, like daily figure drawing practice. Otherwise, seems like a hassle for wet mediums, worse than paper buckling.

That’s unfortunate that you are so limited in which pens you can comfortably use! I think you may be uptight, holding onto the pen as if it’s going to be snatched from your hold. I just Love the Jinhao 80, as I’m retired and cannot afford a Lamy 2000. I think they’ve done a wonderful job on these dupes, hats off to them. Also, I’m always very careful how tight I screw them back on, as so many are plastic and can be ruined easily- treat them tenderly, respect them. They may be cheap, but if you abuse a cheap pen, you will do the same when you buy an expensive one! Like allowing a child to walk all over the old, worn out couch, guess what will happen when you can now afford that very pricey new couch…..yep, because he never learned respect. I think it’s Crazy how the Lamy dupes come with converters, but buy a Lamy Safari for about $30. And it has no converter Or cartridge…..shame on them!

I really enjoy Manga dip nibs so the little bit of feedback I get is really nice. I'm 40 by the way and do very serious work. Only thing I find lacking is I can't get one in solid brass.

I dunno I like the micron it bleeds less and smudge less especially if you always slide the tsquare on the paper you just need to have a consistent angle the problem I have with artline is it bleeds if it is in one position for so long and for unipin it smudge if you are working too fast but the nib for micron as the tip gets smaller is not so durable thats why I get the kuretake zig for 0.05 and 0.03 even the 0.1 since the bleed is not as unendurable as the artline and it doesn’t smudge even if you are too fast but the bigger the nib of the kuretake zig the more the bleed becomes noticeable just take into mind micron needs to have consistent angle and kuretake needs consistent line weight

Can I use the regular fountain pen ink? I use my fineliners for general writing and have at least two bottles of fountain pen ink (Pelikan 4001) just laying around. As much as i love my fountain pens, I prefer to carry around a fineliner. So, I was just wondering if I can use that ink instead?

When you say you have the Faber Castell eraser since 2016, do you mean that you've always bought the same model, or that you literally used the one in the video? In such case I'm surprised that it lasts so long

be careful not grinding/polishing too much, the life of a fountain pen is on the tip of the nib. if the tipping material gone it won't be smooth ever again unless you change the nib or retip it. if your pen feels scratchy, make sure to inspect it first like the video before you do any grinding/polishing, it could be something else like misaligned nib.
