    This was very helpful. I didn't know you could wet a cloth and wipe off excess. Really helped me out!

    1st times l antiqued l use Kiwi shine and nourish Cream in the brown l wanted, worked great! Was shiny, but l came back with the wax in brown shoe wax and sealed it by melting the wax with a small torch and then rubbed off. For small projects it works very well.

    Yvonne that is exactly how I apply the antique gel.. Not because of having more control of how evenly applies. And like Ecoflo on some projects vs Fiebings antique.. Makes your tooling pop when using a lite dye.. Thx

    How many different gel antiques do you have? Could you show an example of the different ones (if you have any) that you use? This is exactly the video I have been looking for!

    What about useing a few triangle makeup sponge from the dollar store to apply the dye to the leather it wood use a lot less dye. The sponge has a small points so u could get into corners it's just a thought.

    Do you not use some kind of finish on it afterward like you would the water based Eco Flo dyes? I use Canyon Tan a lot and finish with Super Sheen. Does the antiquing not rub off like Eco Flo dye does if you don't finish it? Thanks!

    • @backtoearthcreations
      @backtoearthcreations  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phillip Carr , I vigorously rub the leather down with oil and bees wax to burnish and seal the pores of the leather. On the corsets I see my clients wear from purchasing 3+ years ago there isn't any dye rub off, but on something that gets daily wear the results might be different though. on pieces that have detailed coloring in them it wouldn't hurt to use all the sealing techniques at your disposal. so long as it's not gunking up, overkill isn't a bad thing lol

    • @TheMysterySquad
      @TheMysterySquad 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in the planning phase of a super gaudy Spaghetti Western style gun belt. Probably something that's not going to see regular use:).
      I've only used beeswax when slicking edges. Are you saying that you rub it into the grain/face of your projects?

    • @backtoearthcreations
      @backtoearthcreations  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phillip Carr that sounds cool!
      I have a piece of old denim that I keep saturated in olive oil and melted bees wax. it starts off stiff, but as I rub the leather the friction melts it into the leather. I love the smell and texture, makes my leather smell honey sweet :)
