You don't wake a girl up that way if she doesn't think you're good-looking. If she does, you're golden and expected to do these bold, spontaneous things without promptig. How do you know if she thinks you're good looking? Have to have ESP, which is classic flaw of woe-men.

Actually I want to nitpick that in the case of the two "Wake up a girl with a kiss" Princess movies, both Snow White and Aurora had met their Princes and were attracted to them before being kissed by them, so no matter how much you can nitpick how long they knew their princes prior to said kisses, they were still one step up from Corbin kissing a complete stranger without permission.
I'm still amazed that the timebomb ticker that starts at 20 minutes really takes 19 minutes and 55 seconds before it's stopped at 5 seconds. It's so rarely done in movies and the pacing of those 20 minutes is just a work of art...

Yes. This movie is quirky and cheesy and utterly unique. Weird, cool, dumb, awesome . . . A total oxymoron. It makes no excuses for and fully embraces its own ridiculous eccentricity.
Spot on. People 50 years ago that instantly transported to the present time, wouldn't believe the sillyness going on. If anything, this film undersells the future and how stupid it must be.

Not to mention the fact that the hero (Corbin) worked for and was fired by the villain (Zorg) at the beginning when Zorg fired the Million instead of the 500 thousand
That scene towards the end where they literally miss each other by seconds; like they had the actors together on set and still went out of their way to not have him meet.
Fun fact: Zorg's henchman, the one who gets blown up by the phone, was played by English trip-hop rap artist Tricky. He was so nervous about performing with Gary Oldman that he spent the entire time stoned. His munchies got so bad that he kept a snickers bar in his pocket at all times. When they were doing takes where the camera was on Oldman, Tricky would sneak a bit of his snickers, which Oldman thought was the weirdest and most eccentric thing he'd ever seen in his career.
No it's not. He was loud, obnoxious, not funny, and hard on the eyes. Totally ruin the entire movie. I couldn't watch the rest of the movie after his character was introduced.

“Who would not be on the side of life?” We’ve been asking the same thing of our governments and corporate overlords for years. This movie makes so much more sense when you realise it’s a French movie.

This movie is so delightful bizarre, the definition of a cult classic. And sweating blood is a real thing (Hematidrosis) which is caused by severe emotional stress - the idea in the movie being that it happens to humans in the presence of that "absolute evil".
Another Luc Besson that's pretty weird is Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017). I liked Lucy (2014) better, Fifth Element probably best (more than Lucy simply because of the nostalgia).
I always felt that one of the best things about this movie, absolute best, is that the hero, Korben, and the main villain, Zorg, not only never meet, but never even become aware of one another. The villain is destroyed through sheer karma that he brought on himself (while Korben prevails through the same thing giving him access to Zorg's ship)
my friends and i went see it every weekend until it got booted off the screen. And when they did an encore screening later that summer....we went see it again
I accidentally found this movie when I was channel surfing at my parents house in the late 90's early 2000's, can't remember exactly. I had never even heard of it. It was at the very beginning & I hesitated to think, what the Hell is this? Next thing I knew it had the credits rolling. This is one of those movies that is just fun & doesn't cause you to start contemplating your life decisions. I'll take that any day, especially in 2020.

Absolutely, a favourite of mine growing up and was scared it wouldn't hold up. It did, and exceeded even my fondest memories. As an adult you notice a lot more about Big Trouble than you did as a 12 year old.

I got a little tired of her with all the cheesy action movies, specially her work for capcom with Resident Evil. its hard to find a movie where she does what she does best, instead of the same emotionless strong girl every time.

@@johnfriday5169 That's a later reprint. My first introduction to it was a European print that a friend of mine who owned an underground video store let me borrow in about 1996. It was titled simply _Léon._ Not long after that it started showing up in video stores under the title _The Professional_ and was one of the cut versions. There are about 4 different versions of the movie with various scenes cut or added. I don't think there is any version of the movie with all the removed content replaced. The _Léon: International Version_ is the most complete, but it actually has at least one scene cut from it that actually are in other versions. However it's a rather innocuous scene that isn't very important.
So many iconic scenes. I was a teen at that time and EVERYONE in my age group used the catch phrases constantly (Aziz, light!) and I bet a lot still do. It's just so different from anything else.
What a lot of younger people don't seem to know is that Bruce Willis started out as a comedy guy. First on Moonlighting and then a couple of movies. Die Hard made him an action star but he was already a household name, well respected for his comedy chops.

My favourite movie. It's just pure fun. Even the actors laugh. In the scene where Corbin threatens Ruby and he says "super green", he looks at his hair and breaks character and laughs. Because everyone was just having fun. In the Showbiz Kids documentary, Milla speaks about how important this movie was to her continuing as an actor.
If you liked this, then try "Big Trouble in Little China", with Kurt Russell. There had never really been anything like it, before, and the only thing that even kinda-sorta came close was "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension", with Peter Weller. (That came out two years before, and it's one I also recommend.)
After a number of years of it being recommended to me i finally got around to seeing it and it was quite a disappointment. I don't really see the big deal.
The Fifth Element is one of the best movies ever made. It has it all, action, drama, suspense, romance, comic relief all tied together with (Edit) a superb cast who all give spectacular performances (End Edit) but the crowning achievement, without question, is the best editing you'll ever see in a movie. Easily one of my top 5 favorite movies.

People seriously need to stop using the term “underrated” just because they love them - when those things are actually super mainstream and already appreciated, ugh.

Ruby Rod was broadcasting his Live Show on intergalatic "radio" the whole time, while trying to not get shot by the Mangalores.. The director originally wanted Prince to play the character, but Prince wasn't interested sadly...
Another thing that occurred to me later in life: when Leeloo pindrops into Corben's cab totally at random, it's supposed to be some destiny shit of the plot falling into our stalwart hero's lap. Except when Corben delivers Leeloo to Cornelius, he then EXITS THE PLOT. Until it turns out he's not actually a regular old cab driver, he's actually this super-duper ex-marine who's perfect for the mission to save humanity that he accidentally ran into 20 minutes ago.
That seems backward to me. It's not a coincidence that she fell into Corben's cab--that she would fall into Corben's car is why he's the main character. The huge coincidence is that he's this super duper marine guy.

You know it's legendary when it's one of the first movies to be ported over to any new medium that comes out. I remember it being maybe the first SuperBit DVD formats before that line was cancelled.
Natalie... a few things about some of the points you brought up: McDonalds: They indeed shelled out a sizeable sum of money to be in the movie. It's how some movies get the investment they need to be made, through sponsorship deals. In return, the company gets the rights to use the film's tie-in for their own promotions. Fashion: Luc Besson went to almost all of the French fashion houses, and many of them opted to have a small part in the movie. Hence the Chanel makeup thingy, a lot of ads in the background for stuff like Dior, etc. The biggest impact of the fashion industry on the film was that all of the costumes were designed by Jean-Paul Gauitier.
Time Bandits was one of those films that cable like HBO used to play heavily back in the day, so it pressed into my childhood eyeballs many times (along with "Flash Gordon", "Clash of the Titans" , "2010:The Year we make contact", and late night special "Outland") but I didn't recall, until this comment, that Ian Holm role of Napoleon. Natalie might have fun with any of those movies, but "Time Bandits" certainly has more than its share of weird and wonderful moments to react to. Hopefully her Patreon voters bring that up in their polls.

"Death Becomes Her" starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis ... i think you might like that one. it's a Comedy/Fantasy that's a little funny & a little serious but overall an interesting movie from what i remember.
They show Death Becomes Her on mainstream tv in the afternoon here in the uk! I have no idea why or how it gets a free pass (also the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies) with gore and nudity intact. My pensioner parents got a shock recently with this one Sunday afternoon, I can tell you

This is so funny. I literally JUST finished watching another reactor I follow (Brandon Likes Movies), and he just finished watching 5th Element. And he also commented on how early the "title drop" came in the movie, AND the McDonalds comment. Are you guys coordinating? LOL
And Harry Potter. It's because people comment on those videos to watch these movies, but also like in other reaction channels - a lot of reactioners copy what others do, seeing the impact in views some of reactions gave the others. It's very much what happened with music, KPOP and anime. It looks like old movie series that people didn't watched yet is one of the bigger trends now for reactioners.

This is one of my all time favorite scifi movies. I've rewatched this so so so many times. Chris Tuckers role was great. Really enjoyed your reaction. you holding your breath on the one and only match was priceless.

They've inspired US-made stuff for over 50 years now. It's often shallow but fun, or surprisingly deep. All the alien effects were practical. All of it. No CG. And the reason the Mondoshawans had no defenses is because they're pacifist (hence why Leeloo didn't know what war is until she looked it up). The trash thing is because of a strike, there's protesters in the airport and it's mentioned in the news at one point.
All of it is practical except for the morphing effects. My brother did it for Fifth Element when he was working for Digital Domain. In addition to drawing some of the matte paintings.

That's soft French humor tbh. Watch Les Visiteurs, the Astérix movies, any movie with Louis de Funès or Jacques Villeret or Kaamelott. Compared to these, Luc Besson is pretty americanized.
One of my favorites movies ever! The rewatchibiltiy value of this film is ridiculously good. Leeloo is the best. That fight sequence mixed with the opera. So good and epic. And SUPER GREEN!

Fun fact: This movie is a French movie made by Luc Besson. The success of this movie allowed Besson to create his own production studio called EuropaCorp (it was originally called Leeloo Production) which still exist today. An other famous movie produce by this studio is Leon the professional which is really really good and star Natalie Portman.

One of my all time favorite lines "it will be here in 1 hour 57mins", "call you back in 2 hours." Natalie did the mouth cover on the fire stone, i remember half the audience did that in the theater. Holding their breath. Such a GOAT movie!
Still one of my favorite movies, and very much a French movie in many ways (since it was French this makes sense). The serious parts are counterbalanced by the lighter parts, like the entire opening scene which could have been played horrifically grim but instead was more real with its good and realistic humor bits. "Aziz! Light!" "Aziz, light." *makes a tick mark on a sheet* Very well done, very balanced, and very enjoyable. I'm still wanting you to see The Abyss if you want more drama. It's a good movie too.

Fun fact: Zorg's henchman, the one who gets blown up by the phone, was played by English trip-hop rap artist Tricky. He was so nervous about performing with Gary Oldman that he spent the entire time stoned. His munchies got so bad that he kept a snickers bar in his pocket at all times. When they were doing takes where the camera was on Oldman, Tricky would sneak a bit of his snickers, which Oldman thought was the weirdest and most eccentric thing he'd ever seen in his career.

The humor is what makes this movie. It's clearly not a typical sci fi drama like you would see nowadays.
Most scifi turned into angst-filled dramas after Battlestar Galactica. It was the camp and humor that made the old scifi so watchable.
This movie is so delightful bizarre, the definition of a cult classic.
And sweating blood is a real thing (Hematidrosis) which is caused by severe emotional stress - the idea in the movie being that it happens to humans in the presence of that "absolute evil".
Another Luc Besson that's pretty weird is Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017). I liked Lucy (2014) better, Fifth Element probably best (more than Lucy simply because of the nostalgia).
I always felt that one of the best things about this movie, absolute best, is that the hero, Korben, and the main villain, Zorg, not only never meet, but never even become aware of one another. The villain is destroyed through sheer karma that he brought on himself (while Korben prevails through the same thing giving him access to Zorg's ship)
Now she needs to watch Leon: The Professional.

It was at the very beginning & I hesitated to think, what the Hell is this?
Next thing I knew it had the credits rolling.
This is one of those movies that is just fun & doesn't cause you to start contemplating your life decisions.

It was titled simply _Léon._ Not long after that it started showing up in video stores under the title _The Professional_ and was one of the cut versions. There are about 4 different versions of the movie with various scenes cut or added. I don't think there is any version of the movie with all the removed content replaced. The _Léon: International Version_ is the most complete, but it actually has at least one scene cut from it that actually are in other versions. However it's a rather innocuous scene that isn't very important.
Gary Oldman is amazing in everything he's in. Even in cheesy movies like this.

What a lot of younger people don't seem to know is that Bruce Willis started out as a comedy guy. First on Moonlighting and then a couple of movies. Die Hard made him an action star but he was already a household name, well respected for his comedy chops.

My favourite movie. It's just pure fun. Even the actors laugh. In the scene where Corbin threatens Ruby and he says "super green", he looks at his hair and breaks character and laughs. Because everyone was just having fun.
In the Showbiz Kids documentary, Milla speaks about how important this movie was to her continuing as an actor.
Leeloo looks at humanity & loses hope for a little while. Ultron looks at the internet for 2 minutes & wants to wipe out humanity.
From the day I saw this movie, whenever I walk into a room with auto-lights, I shout "Aziz! Light!..... Thank you".
If you liked this, then try "Big Trouble in Little China", with Kurt Russell.
There had never really been anything like it, before, and the only thing that even kinda-sorta came close was "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension", with Peter Weller.

It has it all, action, drama, suspense, romance, comic relief all tied together with (Edit) a superb cast who all give spectacular performances (End Edit) but the crowning achievement, without question, is the best editing you'll ever see in a movie. One of the most underrated movies of the nineties. And a clear proof that when well directed, Milla Jovovich is a wonderful actress IMHO.
Have you ever seen Jeanne d’Arc? She playes Jeanne d’Arch, and does an absolute power performance, in that film. John Malkovich and Dustin Hoffmann are also in the movie. Directed by Luc Besson.

Another thing that occurred to me later in life: when Leeloo pindrops into Corben's cab totally at random, it's supposed to be some destiny shit of the plot falling into our stalwart hero's lap. Except when Corben delivers Leeloo to Cornelius, he then EXITS THE PLOT. Until it turns out he's not actually a regular old cab driver, he's actually this super-duper ex-marine who's perfect for the mission to save humanity that he accidentally ran into 20 minutes ago.

Natalie... a few things about some of the points you brought up:
McDonalds: They indeed shelled out a sizeable sum of money to be in the movie. It's how some movies get the investment they need to be made, through sponsorship deals. In return, the company gets the rights to use the film's tie-in for their own promotions.
Fashion: Luc Besson went to almost all of the French fashion houses, and many of them opted to have a small part in the movie. Hence the Chanel makeup thingy, a lot of ads in the background for stuff like Dior, etc. The biggest impact of the fashion industry on the film was that all of the costumes were designed by Jean-Paul Gauitier.
Ian Holm in Time Bandits as Napoleon is a must see.
Time Bandits was one of those films that cable like HBO used to play heavily back in the day, so it pressed into my childhood eyeballs many times (along with "Flash Gordon", "Clash of the Titans" , "2010:The Year we make contact", and late night special "Outland") but I didn't recall, until this comment, that Ian Holm role of Napoleon. Natalie might have fun with any of those movies, but "Time Bandits" certainly has more than its share of weird and wonderful moments to react to. Hopefully her Patreon voters bring that up in their polls.

Fun fact: The opera sang during this movie, "Diva Dance," was designed to be unsingable by humans. Though that hasn't stopped several people from doing a good job of trying.
The diva is played by Maïwenn, that of course dated director Luc Besson at the time. She later became an awarded director herself.
The first half is a legit Italian opera, the second half is the unsingable part.

It's because people comment on those videos to watch these movies, but also like in other reaction channels - a lot of reactioners copy what others do, seeing the impact in views some of reactions gave the others. It's very much what happened with music, KPOP and anime. It looks like old movie series that people didn't watched yet is one of the bigger trends now for reactioners.

All the alien effects were practical. All of it. No CG. And the reason the Mondoshawans had no defenses is because they're pacifist (hence why Leeloo didn't know what war is until she looked it up).
The trash thing is because of a strike, there's protesters in the airport and it's mentioned in the news at one point.
This movie is Jean-Claude Mézières and Moebius to the core.
All of it is practical except for the morphing effects. My brother did it for Fifth Element when he was working for Digital Domain. In addition to drawing some of the matte paintings.

Have watched this over a dozen times. Bought the VHS, later bought the DVD......priceless. A must for your video library.

One of my favorites movies ever! The rewatchibiltiy value of this film is ridiculously good. Leeloo is the best. That fight sequence mixed with the opera. So good and epic. And SUPER GREEN!

Yep, it’s one of my comfort movies.
Fun fact: This movie is a French movie made by Luc Besson. The success of this movie allowed Besson to create his own production studio called EuropaCorp (it was originally called Leeloo Production) which still exist today.
An other famous movie produce by this studio is Leon the professional which is really really good and star Natalie Portman.
Leon was Luc Besson's last great movie. Subway, Le Femme Nikita, The Big Blue, all great films.
Might want to check your dates there bud. Leon came out BEFORE The Fifth Element

The reason why I love your reaction movies is because you are so much in tune with the movies; you always have some reactions where your question about a scene is answered in the very next scene, or when you answer big plot questions that I didn't even have at the moment of watching the movie. I love your big awareness brain. ^o^
One of my all time favorite lines "it will be here in 1 hour 57mins", "call you back in 2 hours." Natalie did the mouth cover on the fire stone, i remember half the audience did that in the theater. Holding their breath. Such a GOAT movie!

Luc Besson was the director, right? I think he also direct the Taxi movies which are really fun to watch.

@@niki123489 Actually, Besson produced the Taxi movies through his production society Europa Corp (And also wrote them). He didn't directed them.
Still one of my favorite movies, and very much a French movie in many ways (since it was French this makes sense). The serious parts are counterbalanced by the lighter parts, like the entire opening scene which could have been played horrifically grim but instead was more real with its good and realistic humor bits. "Aziz! Light!" "Aziz, light." *makes a tick mark on a sheet* Very well done, very balanced, and very enjoyable.
I'm still wanting you to see The Abyss if you want more drama. It's a good movie too.
