Off Grid LOG CABIN Build / First Floor Oak Parquet and Loft Douglas Fir Flooring (S3 Ep13)

- Installing the oak parquet in the first floor and tongue and groove Douglas fir boards in third floor. I've also put a layer of plywood to eliminate the movement of the boards and better connect the flooring, plus on top of that a layer of cork to hopefully dampen the noice. I know there are better options to dampen the sound, but cork was the only natural material I've found. When it comes to parquet in the first floor, I've decided for oak instead of leaving spruce boards or Douglas fir like in second and third floor, to last longer when walking in and out with shoes.

I can’t imagine the amount of pride and satisfaction he must feel when he completes a major part of the build like this. And also the joy of his family having fun helping. I’ve watched from the very beginning, I hope there are adventures when the build is complete. Would stink if it was just a whelp, all done thanks, see ya. 😊
Prior to the log house, he made videos for his other projects (the tree house, the bmx dirt jump park, etc), so I would guess after the house is done we will continue to see project videos. I'm hoping at least 😊

I am very very impressed with how the children assist, especially the little girl. Have seen teenage kids and even some grown women on other similar shows that will find it difficult to keep up with these kids. The whole family's work ethic impress me. Congrats.

The flooring is beautiful. You did a fantastic job at it. Your wife and daughter are a big help so you don’t need to go up and down ladder a hundred times to measure and cut.

I liked how everyone lent a hand bringing in the plywood----and your daughter was envious of your son and wife's carrying three of them in. Ha! I have been watching Nik Rijavec's log cabin build from the begining and it is breathtakingly beautiful. It takes me to a zen like state of relaxation. The mountainous location and the odd footage of nature, hikes and skiing, what is not to love.
I've been watching from the beginning as well, hard to believe from the felling of the trees, hauling them to the site, removing the bark....etc....to this point....WOW !!!

It's great to just see someone work. I built custom homes for 10 years and I miss it a lot. I sit at my desk all day now and it pays better, but I miss physical work.

What a masterpiece of video. Just extraordinary shooting, editing, music, and subtle camera angles, and a construction story that is coming to a glorious end. We are so grateful to this filmmaker for his story. So many details to appreciate today, including how the father allowed his daughter to join in their building. He and the mother empowered their daughter by their patience to go out and do her own projects.
