Outstanding pics with Zeiss ikon ikonta the which built almost 70-years ago.See the tonal variations especially in that pic of sheeps.Shoot some portraits.
I have exact camera from my father 523/16. Just been sitting around, Looks like its been hardly used. Thanks for the video. Very informative. Going to learn more about it and try to take some pictures with it. Being a layman it looks a bit complicated. Just been playing with it. yellow button red button. Shutter speed..... lots to learn thks
Nice work Luigi thanks for sharing your knowledge I just picked up the 524/16 looks very good condition although the vertical image does not line up in the RF I’ll set it to hyper focal and give it a run ❤️📷❤️
Thank you. Online you can find some repair manuals for it... not an easy fix but worth to DIY or send to a repair shop. There is a Zeiss Ikon group on Facebook where you can get a lot of info.
Lasr week I got a 523/16 from eBay with the f3.5 Novar Anastigmat lens and Prontor SR shutter for the grand sum of £16 or €19/ $22. Close to mint condition, no light leaks and the shutter is accurate at all speeds, well as close as I can tell. So bargains are out ther
Salve signor Luigi. Bellissima spiegazione and your English is really good! Thanks a lot.
Just out of interest I have a 1948 ferrania falco 2 stylish as anything and I’m starting to get some lovely shots from it there is a light leak I think from the red window I need to test this when covered with gaffer tape. Have you come across the ferrania at all mate
Light leaks are a common problem on old cameras, luckily easy to fix with some velvet strips or wool cords. I know Ferrania pretty well but never came across one for now. Ferrania factory is 40 minutes from my home in Italy.
@@LuigiBarbano awesome mate I’ve just shot a roll of fp4 with gaffer tape covering the film counter window so happy to say light leak is fixed I’ll put a video of the process on my channel in next couple of days. So happy with the falco 2 it just oozes Italian style I love it to bits. You should grab one mate ❤️📷❤️
I have almost the exact same camera. Same shape, same lens. Only the shutter is a more basic one that only goes from 1\10 to 1\200 +B. I thought Ikontas were higher spec cameras with rangefinders. (Mine is a Nettar) Anyway, great video, nice to see what you were able to do with the lens.
Thanks. You need to check the model # when is an Ikonta matter. Ikonta as name was used to produce a lot of cameras in different years. Most recent have rangefinder and better specs. in this case is the 523/16 and still is without a rangefinder. For the age when they were produced those cameras were pretty advanced and high specs.
I have a beautiful old Zeiss Ikonta 524/2, but all the images are blurred on the right side. I think maybe the lens is misaligned. Do you know how to fix this? Or someone who can fix it in Europe?
It can be a misaligned lens or some problem with the film pressure plate. I don't know who can fix it. It is possible to do it yourself if you have some manual abilities and know what to do. A very good source to learn to repair or find someone able to do a professional repair is learncamerarepair.com/ They also have a group on FaceBook and you can ask there. Also on FB there is a Zeiss Ikonta group and I sure someone there will be able to give you an address. Lately I do my repairs but not knowing your skills and experience I don't know if the DIY is a good suggestion for you.
Ciao Luigi, bella recensione.

probably you can find a manual online. Most of all look for the pictures made by your father with that camera, must be nice.
A great model when a clean copy! It's super portable and I wish we had a modern version of this form factor.
agreed!

l'immagine che hai scattato a 9:50 e' veramente molto bella. le varie tonalita' di grigio danno un bel senso di distanza. Ansel Adams would be proud.
Grazie mille. Mi ha soddisfatto parecchio quella foto :)

Can I ask you where you buy your film louds so you can take pictures?
At the moment at a local store here in Italy. If you do a search on Google you can find a lot of places selling film. B&H is a good one n USA.
