    NIce start, John! Like the emphasis on the ones getting started. Any chance you might try some of the "cheap" methods used by the Budget Model Railways guys Mike & Douglas?

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't know Mike and Douglas but I am definitely looking for "modeling on a budget" content. One in particular I want to do will be putting weight in N scale rolling stock because I have some rolling stock to do it and a cool new app to help me make it happen. The question is what cheap alternative to use for weight. I have some ideas about that too. So many ideas, so little time. I will get to it though!

    hahah great job!! Very good information in this one. I for one will be buying some more tools. Thats how I am when I get something right on a model too lol. Game shows here I come.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure, Joe. One technique is to add a tool when you need it for a project instead of just buying a load of stuff all at once.

      I just need a LokSound V4 decoder and a model to set it up with. I have the programmer and we already know I can make recordings.... :))

    I found you missed a tiny screw starter/ holder, to be invaluable for those tiny screws that big fingers can't hold.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used my needle-nose pliers for that.

  • @Txman1996

    Eyesight has nothing to do with working on N scale. You could have 20/20 vision and you still wouldn’t be able to see.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see your point.

    • @rickcorwon5118
      @rickcorwon5118 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t really agree, I work in the smallest scale and don’t have a problem seeing anything. I might end up using a microscope every once in a while but that’s about it.

  • @tomspettel3646

    Hey john if I can suggest a really good place for tools is Jem and jewelry shows they have everything you could ever want!!
    Plus you can score points with your gf or wife on that!!
    Since you live in Cali there is some big ones there. If I'm not mistaken there is a tool company that goes to the ones in Cali
    Have a look

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! Jewelers require very precise tools, so they won't be cheap that way but they will be good tools that will probably last your whole life. I'm not sure how many points you will get from your wife, however, if you go and only buy expensive tools and no jewelry :))

    I guess there's no USB programming track anywhere. I'd have loved to use my PC to program DCC.

    I’ve really been enjoying these videos but I noticed in this one and another you say “CA glue,” and true beginners in the hobby world might not know that’s short for cyanoacrylate or superglue.
    You really don’t want to use a thick, gloppy glue on tiny objects.

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You make a legitimate point, but it's easy enough to figure out what it is. "CA Glue" took about 2 seconds to type in on a search engine and this is what it returned: www.google.com/search?q=ca+glue&oq=ca+glue&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j0l7.1423j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

    • @Peter_Morris
      @Peter_Morris 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is also a true statement of fact. One can only hope new hobbyists also pay attention to your oft repeated admonition.
