I installed this last weekend. It was an easy install as you showed. The most difficult part was drilling that hole. I used a M12 fuel drill and it’s small form factor made it fit easily. The difficult part was the Irwin hole saw was a bit aggressive at the lower speed going through the plastic binding every so often. 2 things I did not see you do that I read in the instructions was power up the unit before you start the install to make sure your not going through all the work for nothing. And the second was to remove the rubber-ish mat in the bottom of the compartment. Not sure why they wanted it removed but I did it. Thought it might be for clearance but yours fit. Also noticed you use your powered driver on the locking screws. I used a regular screw driver. My Dewalt could easily break off that lock If I was not careful and had the driver set to one of the lower torque settings. Good job. Were you a bit skeptical when you opened the lid to the fridge if it would hold 12-12oz cans? I was so like you I tried it out and yup, the lid closed just fine.
Awesome! My drill bit was also catching at low speed, I had to just go for it at one point lol. Yeah, I didn’t test it first. Figured since install was straightforward, taking it out of it was DOA would be easy. For sure, yeah gotta have some finesse with power tools but it was out so I didn’t need to go digging for a screwdriver lol. I was shocked that it actually fit 12 cans lol. When we got it, I figured it held 6-8 cans... but 12 is actually insane capacity! One of my favorite things is that the lid shuts perfectly when you shut the center console lid, so you can shut it all at once while driving.
Maybe you could run a separate battery for it that it could run while it is off. If you tie it into the alternater so it charges when it is running. Figuring out the wiring so it doesn't drain your normal batteries could be tough. If you do it right you could by pass the switched hot that goes to that plug.
We have a GoalZero for our CFX3 35 in the backseat that we could probably figure out how to power this one from, but this one actually holds it’s cold really well. We turned it off while it was at the dealer for over a week and it was still cold when we picked the truck up.
If you created a 3 1/2 hole, will the vehicle not get hot because the heat air blowing out from that motor is only circulated inside the vehicle? Also will that not get your window foggy inside the vehicle during winter weather?
Great video, three questions tho. How long does it take it to turn warm soda to ice cold? What’s the lowest temp or can it actually freeze stuff? Last but not least, where the hell do that hole lead to? Thanks
Great questions. I will have to do a test on warm to cold soda. It doesn’t have any temp change options, but if it only has a couple water bottles in it than it can freeze them. It’s some dead space under the center console and then no clue from there.
Unless you’re off road and the on the road most of time I don’t see how this is worth it, I think a cheap foam cooler and ice bag from the gas station do the trick
Well we are off road for extended periods, but even when ice is available not having to deal with ice and water it’s definitely worth it and so amazing on road trips.
That’s a great question. We haven’t really tested how quickly it’s cools stuff down. The cans get really cold, my guess is that the fridge is in the high 30s and it’s so small that everything gets really cold but we haven’t had any freezing issues with it.
Thanks for posting I'm considering but the price point is slightly high. Couple of questions: have you noticed excessive condensation build up in the fridge when it is cycling on and off? How loud is the fridge while it is running, is there excessive vibration? Since the heat vents into the center console with that fan have you noticed any areas getting hot that normally would not? Thanks!
We haven’t noticed excessive condensation in either of our Dometic truck fridges. I have never noticed any sound or vibration coming out of it. No, haven’t noticed any additional heat that the transmission puts off.
I don't understand why it needs to fit a 12 pack of beer. Hopefully folks aren't consuming said 12 pack whilst operating the vehicle. Me, I'd use mine for water and soda, maybe ice cream.
Depends on how hot the inside of the truck gets. In Florida heat is stays cold for a day or so, in Colorado winter they were still cold a few days later lol
I haven’t noticed any noise from it, but we also have a Goal Zero in the truck that is fairly loud when the fan kicks on so it could be drowning out any sound from the Dometic
You should use that Dyson more often unless it's like mine and don't work half the time and when it does it's not. To good shop vac best option buttt the dog fur is super. Gross

My 2021 F150 has a usb port and not the 12v plug inside. Is there a way to switch that out?? 😢

I’d pay the extra money to get it hardwired with its own switch and power source.
We have thought about that, but we also have a CFX3 with a Goal Zero power source in the cab so that keeps drinks cold when we aren’t driving around
