A total class act. He not only sang, he dedicated his life to human rights and equal rights for all. He was as humane as he was talented. This is his signature song but everything he touched turned to gold. RIP, Mr. Bennett and thank you, thank you, thank you for all of the wonderful musical memories you left behind.
Absolutely, he was part of the American army freeing the Dachau Concentration camp and he march with Martin Luther King from Selma to Montgomery. An incredible gentleman with an incredible story.
I wish you had seen on Sunday night July 23rd on CBS, the repeat of "ONE LAST TIME: AN EVENING with TONY BENNETT and LADY GAGA" It was on last year to celebrate his 95th birthday. It was a PHENOMENAL show. He and Lady Gaga had a very close relationship and had performed together before. It was held in Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Mr. Bennett was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, and didn't remember many many things, but he STILL remembered all the words to the songs he sang. Lady Gaga performed songs from that iconic period of music which were the bulk of the songs Mr. Bennett performed. Then she escorted him on to the stage, leading him to the grand piano where he could support himself by holding on to the piano with his right hand. He sang duets with Lady Gaga with some of his most popular songs. His voice was just as wonderful at 95 as it was for years. There was such a sparkle in his eyes and he acknowledge the audience after each song. The camera panned the audience several times and there were some tears amongst the crowd. I myself was crying watching it, as I did when it was on last year. My dad was a musician who played 4 instruments, played in several "Big Bands" in the '40s and '50s, and still played gigs until he was 98 years old, he passed away in 2020 at the age of 103. Because of my dad I was exposed to Big Band music and all the crooners, since I was a very small child. My DAD LOVED Tony Bennett, and he would have LOVED that "One Last Time" show. My mom was a huge fan of Tony’s. She told me this story that Tony’s pianist wrote this song. They played it in a rehearsal in SF. They weren’t going to play it in the show until a bartender at the venue said “you should record this- it would be a hit”…and the rest is history, Tony was also active with civil rights movement after he was in military. He was demoted from corporal to private for eating with black solider. He was in Selma march

RIP Tony. A classic song as well. Of course, Tony also took Lady Gaga under his wing. WW II vet who saw combat and concentration camps. Walked with MLK. Ah. Another tune that my Mom would sorta glide around the house, humming along. Getting sentimental here. Nice switch-up. Yeah! What a performance! I was fortunate enough to have been around to hear his music in two different eras of his career.. Once as a kid in the 60's on my Parent's record player; and later, early 2000's with "Duets". He was not only Talented, but Kind and appreciated the Talents of others that he helped and/or collaborated with🙏
I was privileged to watch Tony Bennett when he played in Newcastle upon Tyne's City Hall. Amazing, my friends and I felt we'd been in a little part of history. When Tony died this week my sister who was at the concert with me, sent me a text saying our Tony has died... RIP Tony. Thank you for making my childhood happier. My parents always had you on the record player. Thank you for fighting in WWII and coming back. You need to hear this song in the studio version.
I watched a special on his final performance. He was deep in the throes of dementia, not fully lucid a lot of the time, but the performer in him never went away. When Lady Gaga came on stage with him, he introduced her by name. You could see in her eyes how meaningful it was to her that he remembered her. I didn't even bother trying to hold back the tears. RIP Mr. Bennett.
Anyone who has or has had a loved one with dementia of any form knows how absolutely precious and wonderful a moment like that is. They are golden. As was he. RIP
You nailed it Amber- he does have such a sweet air about him. His smile is just the sweetest ever. This song brings back so many memories for me. I grew up across from SF Bay and we went to the city for all of my birthdays. It was always so much fun. When I was of drinking age, we would always play this song on the jukebox while at some of the old restaurant/bars in North Beach. Thank you so much for this!
This was his signature song. I love this song. I was privileged to see him in concert at the Hollywood Bowl. What a great singer and showman. He will be sadly missed.
I'm a die hard rock chick but Mr Tony Bennett has always touched me with his gorgeous smooth voice like no other. My hubby and I watched many of his performances the other day when we heard he'd passed. We were especially saddened as my father in law was also taken by Alzheimer's complications. RIParadise Mr Bennett, Sir🌹
While at O'Hare airport on an early morning business trip in the '80s, I stopped to pick up a magazine. The kiosk was empty with the exception of a male customer and the cashier. When I looked over I realized Tony Bennett was standing next to me. Being star-struck I barely said "good morning". Not only did he reply, he asked me where I was headed at that hour, the nature of my work...Couldn't have been nicer, especially at that ungodly hour.❤️
Good comment on nowhere to hide. That's what made Karen Carpenter so great. She was a female crooner who sang so beautiful with nowhere to hide. One of a kind
Thank you so much for doing this reaction. It brought tears to my eyes. It is so easy to see why Lady Gaga adored him. His duet with Lady Gaga "The Lady Is A Tramp" to use an old phrase will "knock you socks off'"
Thank you! This was my lullaby when my mother, God rest her soul, would rock me to sleep. I did the same for my kids and once caught my son singing this to my grand-daughter. Absolutely beautiful song, voice and man.
Was a great person too. I worked as a bellman at a hotel in Denver in the 90s to help with college. Tony Bennett stayed there everytime he was in town. After one show, he was walking through the lobby to the elevators. A lady saw him and asked if he would sing at her daughters wedding reception that was also at the hotel. He quickly agreed. Sang 2 songs and gave the newlyweds cash as an additional gift. Class act.
I was fortunate to see Tony at the Blue Note in NYC in the 80's. Tony's career (all Crooners) had hit a wall due to the Beatles and Rock n Roll. His career in a lull and dealing with drug and other issues Tony looked to his son for direction as his new manager. The Blue Note was the answer. Her performed there for a week and after an incredible review in the New York Times....Tony Bennett became relevant again. I can only tell you that being in the audience on one of those nights was incredible. There was magic in the air! Sleep well Tony....job very well done sir!!!
Gotta love Tony Bennett! As an Italian-American, living literally across the street from Oracle Park here in SF, every time the Giants win a home game, this is the song that escorts us out!!
I would add that one of the reasons crooners are so wonderful is because of the material they sing. The songs were melodic, had good arrangements, and the lyrics were sentimental without being crass. Bennett, Sinatra, Martin, Como, Torme, Cole, and let's not forget Ella; they stood there and interpreted the Great American Songbook.
Frank Sinatra said Tony Bennett was the best. Everyone loved him. Thank you for all the unforgettable tunes Mr. Bennett. RIP

Thank you Anthony Dominick Benedetto for the music and your kind soul. Rest in Peace.
What an absolute LEGEND and CLASS ACT. Thank you, Mr. Bennett!
That was so cool
Good comment on nowhere to hide. That's what made Karen Carpenter so great. She was a female crooner who sang so beautiful with nowhere to hide. One of a kind
His duets with Lady Gaga are wonderful. She was very protective of him and they had a wonderful friendship.
He always stayed true to the music he loved. Never tried to be hip. Made him that much more authentic.
Thank you so much for paying homage to the great Tony Bennett! My Italian grandparents loved him!
Thank you so much for doing this reaction. It brought tears to my eyes. It is so easy to see why Lady Gaga adored him. His duet with Lady Gaga "The Lady Is A Tramp" to use an old phrase will "knock you socks off'"
Absolutely 💯 & his duet with kd lang singing "Blue Velvet" is awesome also👌 👏 👍 ❤
Beautiful beautiful ! RIP TONY 🙏
Thank you for reacting to the magical voice of Tony Bennett. R.I.P
Thank you! This was my lullaby when my mother, God rest her soul, would rock me to sleep. I did the same for my kids and once caught my son singing this to my grand-daughter. Absolutely beautiful song, voice and man.
Ahhh. I used to sing Paul McCartney's "Michelle" to my baby.
🎶Michelle, my belle....🎶
He sang this in the Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco in 1966, leaving my young mind blown.
Class. His voice was like warm honey.
Gotta love Tony Bennett! As an Italian-American, living literally across the street from Oracle Park here in SF, every time the Giants win a home game, this is the song that escorts us out!!
Stunning! RIP Tony. 💗
He certainly had a gorgeous voice. Even late in life he had a nice voice. A legend indeed.
He was a wonderful human being with an extraordinary career that touched multiple generations. What a gift to us all! Thanks for sharing.
Legendary performer, outstanding human being. Enjoy you rest Mr. Bennett.
