  • What do we mean by minor pentatonic scale positions? What are the 5 minor pentatonic scales? They're essentially the same thing, and in this lesson, I'll present all 5 positions of the minor pentatonic scale. The chosen Root note is E minor.
We begin with an overview of the music theory of the minor pentatonic scale before laying it out across the entire fretboard to see how the 2-note per string positions are created.

This is superb, I play guitar for 4 decades not knowing this staff until I bought an electric guitar, not knowing how to play the staff and that is why I'm here. A very big help.

This is the perfect explanation of why each position is numbered as it is.

The positions are named based on what scale degree they're starting on. I've been watching.
Video after video trying to understand this whole position thing. After watching your video about three times in a row I got it.

Ry, sorry to be so blunt ... the Pentatonic scales are indeed overwhelming to me enough as it is, but the background "music" is very distracting to your voice and what you are saying.

It’s not actually background music per se. It’s a simple progression played in the key he’s currently referring to so the pentatonic scale positions he’s speaking of can be heard in practice. Notice how the key changes when the topic is changed to the A minor scale. The scale runs correspond with the notes that the visual aid is demonstrating on screen.
