I really like Filmconvert's grain options. It gives you the flexibility to dial it in as much as you'd like. Dehancer is also cool but only works with Davinci Resolve
Thank you very much, I would like to buy the FX6 this year, but I am now really convinced that I can get a clean picture with the a7iii. I would be interested in your export setting, what did you choose for Bitrat for this video "The Pacific Northwest", do you go with CBR or VBR2 and what was your setting exactly? and why the "Film Grain" from the plugin instead of a footage? Thanks in advance
I actually exported the video as a ProRes LT file. It takes a lot longer to upload and transcode to 4K but if you start it a few days before you publish it should be good to go. I wanted this piece to look extra grainy. Sometimes the FX6 can be overly sharp, and too clinical. I think the added film grain helps it look more natural.
Hi Timmy! Great video as pretty much any you´ve been dropping. I'm in the process of upgrading to an A7SIII/FX3 but your videos always make me wonder if I should still push my A7III to a point of getting better image quality regardless of the 8-Bit codec. What were your settings for FilmConvert, especially grain-wise? Keep making these videos, dude. Some of us really appreciate them from a technical, but also creative and inspirational view.
Thanks so much for watching Che. I think the A7iii is an incredible tool and I still use it for many projects to this day (regardless of owning the FX6). My FilmConvert settings were very simple. I didn't use any film stock and my Film Luma/Chroma were both set to 0%. I only used it to add grain to the image. Grain Size - 14, Softness - 5, Strength - 115, Saturation - 100. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Anyone else impressed with how good the A7iii still holds up?
thank you sir i learn a lot
Informative as always! Thanks for this tim.
You got it, Miguel!
great video
I've been loving your channel and the knowledge you share--super helpful!
Is these a particular grain you like to use in your projects like this one?
