  • Big Tool Rack Comes to Canada! Kubota B2601 compact tractor.
I have seen the Big Tool Rack for some time now and I am very excited to have the Ultimate Tool Rack here on GP Outdoors, to hook up to the back of my Kubota B2601 compact tractor and to use around the property. Today, I take it along for its maiden run, to cut down and block a leaner across the driveway. I hope you will join me for a few minutes, here in the outdoors, at the cottage. Cheers!

Hey GP, so nice of you to give Guy and Bob a place to work on their huskies, while you are out cutting the wood they will never get to! Seriously, this looks like a great addition to your arsenal of 3 point equipment. Thanks for the review! Cheers!

Thanks for the video, we small tractors owners do have to pick and choose our implements. The cost and storage can be a issue. I have a removable home built box for a factory carry all. The carryall works for many different uses. I build portable blinds that can be moved anywhere a tractor can access.

Good day Cleon. Absolutely. And when I do decide on a certain type of equipment, I research it a lot before choosing the final decision on brand, build, price etc to make sure I spend wisely. Thanks - great points for folks to consider. Cheers!

I liked the presentation on the BTR but I gotta admit that you got a chuckle for the Husky gig !! Don’t get me wrong now GP... I LOVE Huskies.... but only if they are furry and have four legs. Hi Gord. Nice review on the rack. You and Guy should adapt the carryall to be able to fit on the quick attach as well. Then with the rack you could use your rack for the tools and towing the splitter in the back and the carryall on the loader in the front. The ultimate machine!

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Good morning Alain. That's a great idea. We were talking and thinking it will be really handy to haul all the equipment out and perhaps we can throw my wood carry-all on Guy's tractor. But that would be pretty neat to have it all on one tractor. Nice! Thanks and have a great week out there!

Great demo video. The BTR is certainly one nice piece of equipment. BTR company also has great attachment clamps. I purchased two a couple years ago and they're awesome for holding my pole saw alongside my GC1710. Saw your chainsaw sliding a bit...(throw an old rubber-bottomed rug in there). Loved when you said..."it even has a hook for my jacket"...😊 Enjoyed a full-video watch. Have a fine week, GP. 👍

Good morning Houndsman! Great to hear from you. That's good to hear - they have sent me a few accessories for it. Nice to know they last and weather well. Funny but it is pretty handy - I always have to drop my coat on the ground or drape it over the tractor. LOL. Hope all is going great in your world. All the best to you and your family!

    Morning Gord,
I want to get that BTR Yard Rack that I saw Mike Morgan demo. Just what I need. Looks real sturdy and I don't need all the bells and whistles of the one you have. For the price, I think it'll do the job. Anyway, thanks for the great review of the BTR, I'm sure that people interested in the unit will appreciate the review. Glad to see BTR products available in Canada.
Have a great week my friend.

It Can hold my 2 chainsaw, chains, pole.saw, oil and gas. Very inexpensive, easy to put on and take off and saves a ton of room.

Happy for you Gord. Ok the wheels are cool. But I bet your going to find the homemade version better. Yours was easier to modify, had a greater payload. That thing will need plywood sides before you haul a half run of wood. Tools that bolt together out of thin sheet metal never seem to last. Reminds me of something you'd find on clearance at Woolmart.

Good evening CP. I have to say, that I think it IS a carry-all. I love the one I built (my heart is in it, of course), and I built it for one main purpose - firewood. However, it is early on, of course, but I can certainly see a number of benefits of having this dropped back in the forest, holding all our tools and supplies, as we get down to the business of processing firewood. Let's give it some time and see how well it performs overall. I can't tell you how many times Guy and I have traversed deep into the forest and then realized we forgot something. I agree with you, that it is early to tell, but let's see how it works out over the coming months. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Always appreciate your thoughts and opinions. GP this is a great attachment for compact tractors and I can think of no one better to demo it! It gives the functionality of a utv with a tractor. I myself built my carryall for one purpose...to haul wood. Any other weight or attachment back there hinders the ability or space for wood. And being my tractor is 70hp and cat 2 rated I needed something built heavy. As for carrying tools, I have a weight box on the front for storage and ballast. Although i would like a loader but only if my tractor was 4wd. all in all, this is one of the most functional 3 point attachments ever built for compact tractors and as I’ve always said, With a tractor you have two ends to utilize with a skid steer you have only one.

Hey GP, good review of the tool rack. I have to agree with Henry Rogers about the other channels getting the BTR and then it is rarely used or shown. However, not everyone has a skidding winch to use and so the tool rack may get more use...I would fall into that category. You and your neighbors team up on the forest work so you could take both tools to the forest. Based on the cost I would probably build a rack like you and Guy built. I have to admit they are a well built piece of equipment and appear to be very handy. I'll be watching for your continued use of it as spring rolls around. Cheers

Good morning Roy! Thanks - some great thoughts and perspectives there. Yes, Guy and I have been thinking about how well it will fit in this summer. I am thinking at this point, It will largely be super helpful for hauling all our stuff out there, dropping the legs and using it as a tool station while we are working together. Love that it can give us a work bench while we are out there. Guy asked me to keep it at his place so he can put his tools on it and wheel it around in the workshop or in his garage when he is working on a project or fixing something. LOL. Have a good week and thanks very much for your comments this morning! Cheers!

Awesome intro there. That tool rack is the cat's pajamas. I did notice you're planning on it getting scratched on the first use (witnessed by the can of Rustoleum).
One would guess that rig is significantly more expensive than your home-made rack (which I greatly admire). The wheels make it easy to roll around, and you can use it as a permanent storage place for your most used tools (assuming you have space in the shed for it).

Well I'm glad to see that an American company saw the importance of your channel . I have seen that tool rack displayed on a few channels . They all say how great it is and I agree with them but the thing is nobody uses it . Mike was the first one to get one . He hardly ever uses it . He's got that skidding winch on the back of his tractor when he's getting logs . No room for a Big Tool Rack . Two other guys got one and they never use it ( TTWT and Stoney Ridge Farmer to name a few ) . To be perfectly honest here Gord but $1500 US is way to much for that thing . Never mind paying taxes and duties coming into Canada . I googled the Big Tool Rack and their web site they want you to e-mail them for a shipping price to Canada . So much for free shipping . Can't imagine the shipping cost to Canada . Ouch . Yea only in the US . LOL. I see that they have your video on the Big Tool Rack . That didn't take long . 44 mins ago . LOL you could make that thingy that you and Guy built a bit bigger and it would hold every thing the rack will hold . That certainly wouldn't cost $1500 US . Sorry to be such a downer but $1500 US ( which is around $2000 Canadian plus taxes ) plus all of the other costs involved . NOT for me . My pockets aren't deep enough .

    • @henryrodgers3409

Good evening Henry. Thanks for the feedback. You are never being a downer. Don't ever think that. I count on you, to always provide your honest thoughts and opinions to me. It's important to me. You've hung in here with me for a very long time. Let's remember, that the 'big guys' are getting a lot of equipment and don't, in my view, give much attention to each piece. I'll give this some good, Canadian effort, and let's see how well it holds up, over time. Yup, it's not cheap. But I can tell you, I have only had it for about a week, and this thing is built like a tank. Very exacting build. Even Guy was impressed. And that says a lot. You know Guy. He is not easily impressed. We'll see how helpful it is through the coming seasons, and you know, I will show you everything about it as I go. You know I don't take any financial incentives - I just show you good folks what a piece of equipment can do, and what it can't do. And honest, always send me your honest comments. You have always been honest with me. Thanks good sir. Cheers!

Completely agree. TTWT just has way too many attachments to use any of them. Look at the 5-series...he has only used it a handful of times. Mike said it was part of the ultimate firewood rig, but you are right...he now used the winch. I agree - this is one of those items that look cool - but is easily left behind when something more practical ends up in the shed.

    Hi GP,
When I first saw the Big Tool Rack, I thought it was an awesome design. And I still do.I did some research an found out the cost of one. Like most people, I thought $1500.00 US was a very steep price! Then I ran across the "DIY My Way" channel on TH-cam, and he made his own similar to the one that you and Guy made, with a bunch of added options. Awesome build, guessing it was under $300. There is a lot of sense of accomplishment building your own and customizing it to your personal needs.
But, as always, your review of the BTR was excellent. I think it is a great attachment, but it's unfortunately, it's out of my budget.

What's great about theirs, is if you get the accessory spouts they are capless. You just put it in the saw, push down (spring loaded), and it automatically stops filling when full. Even leaves a little space so your not spilling gas or oil.

Nice video as always. I have been trying to touch one of these for awhile now. I need to know how Heavy the metal is ? If I back into a small tree, who wins tree or BTR ? Is it going to break, bend or stay strong in the woods when it clips a few trees ? Also I know it will tow your splitter and you say small trailer but how small is small? Pickup bed size trailer? How about trailer full of wood ? How much tongue weight do you think it will hold. Also is a chainsaw holder available for these ?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Good morning and thanks for watching! Some great questions - some of the answers I will get in time as I use it in the forest this spring - it is built pretty tough though - all steel and 300 lbs. I'll see who wins. LOL. The tongue weight on it is rated at 50 lbs. So depending on how your trailer distributes the weight and the capacity of the tractor, will largely decide how much wood you can throw in a trailer out back. You will see in the next video on it, just how thick and heavy the frame for the tongue is. I'll make sure to do some of that as well to see how she holds up. Yes, it came with one chainsaw holder (it was on the left side of the cross beam) but I did not have any bungees or straps with me to secure it down. The saw bar slides down through the bracket but I wanted to strap the saw in so it wouldn't move around too much. You can also order additional saw holders for it as well. Thanks for the great questions (and ideas for me to include in videos). All the best!

Well... I did go look at it on their website... But $1450 US is pretty pricey...

Good day - Thanks Brian! Like many attachments, it is important to consider the need/functionality versus the cost on these pieces of equipment. Thanks again! Cheers!

@@GPOutdoors I appreciate it's a nice design and like your channel .... However your review lacked pricing or comparable options so it could be perceived as an advertisement for it.
Many your tube creators do this and it's fine ... But if you got a discount or the item for free, then you should be disclosing that fact as you are now a paid endorser of the product.
At over $2200 Canadian when you add exchange and taxes it seems priced quite high for what it is and I felt that cost should have been in your review.
Thank you for time and enjoy your new tool.

Good afternoon Brian. Thanks for your thoughts. You probably didn't watch the video I issued 4 days ago. As mentioned, I still maintain the same principles as I always have. I refuse to accept any compensation for the various types of equipment you have seen on the channel over the last two years. The equipment is loaned to the channel and it gives an opportunity for me, and you, to see it perform and learn about it. I could certainly use the money, however I feel that taking money for using it would be a conflict of interest for me. I don't accept scripting or editing or any other influence on my videos from the manufacturers. That is always part of the deal. Or I don't accept the equipment. The channel provides you, the viewer, access to see different types of equipment being used. It provides me the opportunity to learn new things and new equipment. I show you everything. I have never, and I don't, tell you to buy something. I just show it to you. The determination of value versus price is individual to each of us. Whether you choose to buy a piece of equipment I get to use on the channel or not, is inconsequential to me. I can assure you, that is not the same for many other channels. I have lots of folks, like yourself that I think, expect me to be honest and forthright, and I always have been. I don't put the cost of any equipment in my videos because the videos last forever, and prices change, and I have no interest in having to go back regularly to numerous videos to try to update them, nor do I want the liability associated with an inaccurate pricing that may cause the manufacturer a loss in the future due to my outdated quotation. In short, we try to have fun, get to see new and different pieces of equipment and get to learn together. And I promise, if I ever get compensated for something, I will tell you folks, just as I have promised in the past. I appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts and hope this answers any concerns you may have had. Thanks again for supporting me and the channel - I do appreciate it, Brian. Cheers!

Good evening Norm. Thanks for the great question. It just hooks up like a regular attachment to the 3 point hitch. It is also Quick Hitch compatible too which is very handy. Thanks for the question. Cheers!

It mounts directly to the 3 point hitch.

@@stephenrhodesianridgeback7418 Ya i know, i was hoping if they were gonna be bringing more stock here it would bring the price down. $2000 is WAY too much for that. Pretty sure that is about double for what it is in USD. Its a cool product, but the guy needs to fix his margins.

Nicholas Fekkes yes the dollar difference and the shipping etc kills us up here . The king cutter dump trailers also are same as rural king on outdoor with Morgan’s but twice the price here . I build my own stuff when I can because of this 👍

LOL. Good morning Stanley. I am thinking that we will probably be using this to hold our equipment etc and will station it out where we will be working - great that it has legs on it and we can use it as a work bench too. Then I will load up other equipment as needed on the 3 point. Lots of different ideas in my head but I'll learn as I go. Hope all is well. Cheers!
