The Weeknd is in my top 10 “Hook Masters” of the decade 2010-2019. He had some of the best/most catchy hooks of that time and these mixtapes just gave a glimpse of what was to come in the future.

When you go back and relisten to this album, notice how he kinda slowly appears from out of nowhere into frame with the beginning of D.D. and how he slowly retracts and disappears back into the darkness, into the Echoes of Silence.
Outside is a favorite of mine from this album. Like top 3. Chest popping and body rolls are definitely welcome lol. The Phil Collins drums are a vibe on their own. They drive the feeling home.
