Very much so. For people who haven't experienced it, there's also a common misconception that anyone who didn't lose their house and is now returning is "fine". But in reality, surviving a natural disaster is deeply traumatic even for people who escaped the obvious damage. Its a loss of safety in your place that is supposed to be safe. So on top of people who HAVE lost everything, the people who haven't lost anything but COULD have, often tend to overlook their own trauma. The whole experience of having your home under threat is...truly difficult to explain. I can't even pretend to know it myself, I just worked emergency services long enough to have learned about the farther reaches of trauma beyond the obvious. I've always loved the ring theory, it's meant for grief but applies to everything. You offer support inwards towards the rings of people most affected, and dump your own sorrow outwards asking for support from people in the outer rings who are less affected. Its a nice way of balancing "everyone needs support, but make sure you're asking the right people for support instead of people who don't have the bandwidth". Big big hugs to all affected, near and far from the fires, from the most affected all the way to the people coming home safely who still feel that odd sense of having their safety violated. So many hugs.
Companies need to back off. it's sickening thinking about how that's actually a thing that happens in these times. People who have just lost everything being given an offer that's nowhere close to being justified is something that makes me infuriated.
The visual of Mark running around with work boots and safety glasses, chopping up lumber to help out his neighbors, something about all of that makes me deeply happy and proud.
Embers from OwlCity ~ lyrics: There were days when each hour was a war I fought to survive There were nights full of nightmares and I dreaded closing my eyes There were skies that burst open with a downpour to drown me alive But the world took *a spark like a match in the dark* And the *fire* brought me to life So I'm fanning the *flames* to climb so high 'Cause there's no other way we can stay alive 'Cause we're *burning* bright As we all unite And when it's all said and done We'll shine like the sun *So don't let the fire die* And we'll watch the sky As it fills with light And though the *embers* are new Whatever you do, *just don't let the fire die* And you'll find there'll be mornings When the ashes and *embers* are cold But you'll fight with a passion And you'll never stop 'cause you know Yeah, you know, it gets better And your story is yet to be told Every push, every shove, every war, every love Yeah, the coals are beginning to glow So I'm fanning the *flames* to climb so high 'Cause there's no other way we can stay alive 'Cause we're *burning* bright As we all unite And when it's all said and done We'll shine like the sun *So don't let the fire die* And we'll watch the sky As it fills with light And though the *embers* are new Whatever you do, *just don't let the fire die* *Don't let the fire die* It gets better Just *don't let the fire die,* no 'Cause we're *burning* bright As we all unite And when it's all said and done We'll shine like the sun *So don't let the fire die* And we'll watch the sky As it fills with light And though the *embers* are new Whatever you do, *just don't let the fire die* *Don't let the FIRE die*
Fun fact: in fire fighter simulator mark told a story about a firefighter that told him that one day LA would be caught in flames and that all it needed was the air to hit the right way that it would spread a fire across LA.
no way?! this should be pinned. I never knew such winds could be powerful enough to spread fires like that. it would need to blow in the right direction too right
@@-Pollux- As somebody from a tropical country where typhoons are a common occurrence, it basically teaches you that you should never underestimate the unpredictability and force of nature. Only needs a certain amount of factors going right at the same time to create such devastation as we've seen here.
the fact mark immediately went to action helping other people in his neighborhood is just incredible. He's by far my favorite content creator, and I aspire to be as incredible of a person as he is.
Imagine your house being burned down, and seeing dead trees all over the place then you see markiplier with a chainsaw cutting logs to let first responders through
The fact that your instinct upon getting home and assessing the damage was to go out and help others and clear debris instead of just worrying about your own property says a hell of a lot about you as a person, Mark. Going out of your way and undoubtedly exhausting yourself manhandling a chainsaw for hours is absolutely nuts, and so few people would be willing to do it. Good on you, Mark!
@@mattcrazy7070just because everyone SHOULD do it does not mean everyone WILL do it. people should always praise someone taking the initiative to help others
@@mattcrazy7070 Exactly, though. Why wouldn't we praise someone for doing what we feel everyone should do? Because the reality is that many, many, many people don't. Being unashamed to be supportive of the good in what people do, rather than unnecessarily cynical, is something else we need to foster. More lifting each other up, less putting each other down.
@@NudgarrobotHe's a hater / troll kind of thing, idk which word exactly to describe it. I've seen him before in Mark's videos, and other channels I think. It's a case of "He's successful so he's gotta be bad". Which usually is correct, but Mark is most definitely not part of that ballpark.
Mark, I’m glad y’all are ok. I can confirm, this is a scary time to be a so cal resident! I’m really concerned that some of these areas affected may not come back from this devastation. Thanks for the update, and thanks for the help, you’re a pretty awesome guy!
my favorite thing from this? even though he mentions clearing debris we dont see 3 vlogs about it to "prove" that he did it, he didnt do it for content, he did what had to be done
i hate the fact that while i am in fact glad for this, there's a little part of me that thinks "if there's no footage then maybe he's just lying" the fact that so many would be willing to lie like that is depressing, and as much as i do believe mark, that part of me isn't gonna go away funniest part is that if he did have footage, i'd have that little part of me upset for the exact opposite reason
Mark choosing to help fellow citizens and cleanup teams upon return to his home is genuinely heart touching. It makes me believe that there are still a few angels left on youtube that are purely kind by heart. Thank you Mark
There are plenty of them if you look. It's just the fact that TH-cam allows itself to be exploited for cash, which in turn also attracts very unkind people that would kill for any amount of fame.
Completely agreed. I've seen so many "good" youtubers be exposed for frauds, crimes, or just plain jerk behavior that it's gotten harder to not totally suspect my subscribed creators of hiding serious dark secrets (seen too many Joon The King videos). Mark being such a real one is far more awesome than people really seem to realize and give credit for. Markiplier may be a gamer, but damn does he know when to stop playing around.
Thank you Mark. My mom lost her house in the fires. It's heartening to see people doing their best to help. And a call to action from people with an audience is a huge boon to those who are suffering and dealing with the aftermath.
I’m so glad to know you and your loved ones are safe, Mark! But hearing you go out of your way to help your neighbors just shows how kind you are. I’m proud to be one of your viewers. :)
Mark, as someone who was dead center in the eye of Hurricane Helene when it hit Asheville North Carolina, my family and I were trapped in our home with minimal access to supplies, no cell service, and no way to evacuate. It was people like you, who went out into the fray with their own equipment, who saved us. So, with all my heart, THANK YOU for doing what you did, and I am so sorry that your area is being afflicted with such devastation. You're experiencing nearly exactly what happened to me in terms of seeing such good will come from the community and seeing entire areas erased from home. The animal shelters were packed with displaced pets; donation centers that were packed. Hell, even McDonalds set up and was giving out free meals to people, which provided my first hot meal in weeks at the time. Thank you so much for putting back into the disaster zone. I know you're going to tell yourself that you're strong and you're fine but seeing this kind of shit and having such a close call with losing everything you have and know, is hard on the mind. Go find a resource for yourself in terms of mental health; talking about it will help. Please tell all your stories! I look forward to listening. Love from AVL, - LOCKE
Love to you from the Charlotte area 💕💕 I wasn’t able to get up there to help immediately with recovery but I donated and did what I could from where I am. I hope you and your loved ones are doing alright 💕
While my family and I got lucky, Helene devastated much of my friends' and family's homes. My extended family closer to the harbor got at least four feet of flooding, my sister's teacher had to swim out of her home, and a friend's friend was trapped on her bed until firefighters arrived. It sucks hearing about what's going down in LA. Stay strong, Mark.
I got hit pretty hard by Helene in Georgia too. After the storm, seeing everyone come together to get people out of their houses and to clear roadways was definitely something I wish I could see more of(the helping part, not the disaster part). I know I made gas runs over 2 hours away for neighbors and family that were also affected just to try and help people gain some sense of normalcy after the storm. We definitely didn't get hit as hard as Asheville did, but even now we are still in the recovery process for majority of people around me. Being part of the relief effort definitely gave me a sense of pride in my community. I'm glad you and your family are safe after the storm, because the effects are definitely still in play even though its been a few months since.
as of july 2024 i had finally overcame homelessness after losing everything to the dixie fire in 2021. fire is terrifying. thoughts are with you guys, and i am incredibly relived to hear you're okay.
As someone who’s been homeless before, I know how hard it is to escape from it so I’m really proud of you for being here-my thoughts with all of those affected by the fires as well ❤
Mark and Jack need to learn to embrace their romantic bisexual feelings for each other, it's society brainwashing them into automatically going with women.
All I will say is a Los Angeles resident who is one sector away from seeing those fires, do you really think this is the right time to start posting bots and NPCs? The people who have been called the "road rage stereotypes?" This is all I will say because I don't want to be reported myself. (And I'm a real person for the sake of this reply.)
As someone who lives in an area that is prone to fires during summer it’s terrifying in such a unique way, just last summer there were two wild fires that I could see from the window of my house burning down the oak tree forests in our region which are thousands of years old which is really sad (ittthe Zagros oak tree forests that burned down for anyone interested)
Words can't describe how relived I am you, Amy, and Chica are safe. Living nearby and seeing all these places I saw growing up being burned to the ground breaks my heart. These fires are unlike anything I've ever seen. I truly am grateful to see so many people in the community coming together. It will take time, but we'll begin again. 🫶🏻🩵 Love you Mark, stay safe. ❤
When you said "I want to make sure no one tries to buy up the property here for cheap" I really felt that. Thank you for addressing the scary possibility of that happening, Mark. Some of us are painfully aware of how predatory some people are after disasters like this.
No one really truely knows an internet personality unless you know them personally, not saying he is a bad person but would suggest not fall for what it SEEMS obvious
@@fus3n Yeah true, but few people have been as consistent of a good person as long as Mark has. And very few have opened up to the degree he has emotionally. It's easy to see all of the people who turn out to be terrible people but for the most part people can usually see it coming. There's just nothing on Mark. Even his actions he described in this video, going out with a chainsaw and clearing out what he can, speaks volumes. He did that without anybody even knowing about it and without a camera around. I'm utterly confident that Mark is one of the genuinely good ones.
the most common natural disaster where I live is bushfires - they're awful, but the amount of kindness, work and generosity regular people display when it comes down to it in the aftermath of an emergency is so warming to see. I've never felt more connected with the people I live next to than in the cleanup crews after big storms or fires
Mark, I am certain your father looks down and is beyond proud of the great person and leader you are. Thanks for raising awareness and just being an all-around incredible human
While not a fire, as a survivor of a severe natural disaster, your help and the help of many others is so valuable to recovery. My area did little to help individuals. It was the people and volunteers who made a world of difference. Stay safe Mark, and thank you for your help.
I wasn't in the disaster I'm about to mention personally but I read about it constantly from another state and abroad. So back in late July of 2022, my grandfather's house in southeastern Kentucky got hit by a sudden unexpected flood that did A LOT of damage to numerous Appalachian communities. I'll always remember how my grandfather reacted to it: he was upset because he lost roughly 1/3 or more of his possessions, blessed because he and his dogs were unharmed, and beyond grateful for the volunteers and community that helped him clean and rebuild while also dealing with their own damages. It was surreal seeing a school I went to devastated by the flood.
@@hossleboss Even if you personally weren't involved, any disaster is impactful for those close to the victims. I was unfortunate to lose everything I owned, but was lucky enough to keep my life. I'm happy to hear your grandfather and the doggos weren't hurt. Stuff can be replaced. Lives can not.
I was an unfortunate flood victim of the Louisiana flooding in August of 2016.The local churches and charities were great at helping. Fema didn't do much. They were taking donations and throwing it out. Main problem is insurance companies.
@krystynalwood4161 Oh, yeah. FEMA is pretty underfunded and not able to do much. Or when they can, they're usually pretty bad about it, at least in my own limited experience of dealing with them.
Mark has 37.2m subscribers and probably makes quite a bit of money, and yet he’s still very humble, kind, caring, and generous. He’s someone we should all strive to be like. Mark is such a great guy
I’ve been subscribed to Mark since about 2012/2013 and he has NEVER changed. He’s always been an incredibly humble guy and this just proves it even more.
If you haven't seen the episode with Mark on Anthony Padilla's show, you absolutely should. He talks about the money he's made on TH-cam and why it hasn't gone to his head. ❤️
Here where I live in Valencia, Spain, there was a huge flood (for our standard at least) a few months ago that has destroyed many houses, buildings, families and nature reserves; the crisis is still ongoing but support has basically stopped for the most part because politicians are too busy blaming eachother... In times like these, the regular, day to day citizens are the biggest blessing to people in situations like this. The huge amount of humanitarian add that has been provided by non-profit organisations and donations has been insane. I really hope everyone in LA who has been affected gets as much support as needed; much love from Spain.
As an Australian who hears about bushfires this time of year every year, my heart goes out to everyone in LA dealing with this! Thank you for everything you do, Mark!
I feel like it's a bit different. Many many houses are being burnt down. Sure, in Australia, buildings do get caught on fire but it's literally mainly bush. Like we don't have to completely fret for our lives. I feel sad for all the wildlife though.
@cherishrawhiti9079 I'm sure many Australians remember Ash Wednesday and Black Saturday and the most recent fire in 2019 so we can empathize greatly. The history itself being lost in LA is tragic let alone all those affected from losing their homes, and of course those who have lost their lives. I'm glad Mark is okay but I'm also incredibly grateful he's bringing up ways to offer help to those less fortunate.
What’s happening in LA breaks my heart, I’m so happy you’re ok! I was worried. I left for Christmas to go to Spain and haven’t been able to fly back. I hope the situation gets better soon, this is devastating.
Listen to Markiplier talk about his story is like you being a therapist and hearing the clients vent but their stories sound way more better. that's why mark is the best youtuber.
This man is by far my favorite content creator. The image of him running around trying to clean up the streets really makes me think of something my grandpa would do. This man is amazing, and we must protect him at all costs.
I live in Valencia, where two months ago there was a cut-off low and most towns and grand part of the city were floaded, and there is still people cleaning the areas from the mud that got to the streets and their own houses. Lots of strength in these difficult times, it's very nice to see how people help each other.
Mark has a heart of gold. Humble beginnings are never forgotten. If one neighbor is affected, we are all affected. Thank you Mark and everyone who are out there helping each other.
Mark is the definition of actions speaking louder than words. There are so many content creators who might try to turn tragedies like this into a way to make money for them personally. But the knowledge that Mark’s first impulse was to help in any way he could speaks volumes. Knowing how he is with charity, he’s probably already quietly donated a lot of money to the relief efforts. We need more people like him in this world.
If his action spoke louder than words why is he spending an exorbit amount of money living in a hell hole.?? He is a part of society's issues do not absolutely do not support people like him.
I find it so heart warming that many firefighters from neighboring counties, states & even Countries came to help out over in LA. Love y’all from Orange County (:
My best friends lost their home in Altadena. It's been heartbreaking. A colleague lost his home and his brother and father. Every time I get online I see more and more stories. It's gunna be a long road to recovery. I'm glad your family is safe Mark. And I'm glad your home is as well.
I am so sorry for your losses. I'm in Washington and my heart is breaking for all of you. My community sent down some firefighters to help you out and my heart is with you and I'm grieving with you all. You are not alone
@@starrlesscreative I have been reading these comments, and I'm not sure, but your colleague may be related to my family. We lost my great-uncle in this fire as well as his son whom i knew, and his other son is the only remaining one, and he was at work that day. It was in Altadena. If you see him at work or know him personally, please wish him well because it has been a hard time since the fires.
Living in "Fire county" of Northern California where we have out of control fires every year for over 20 years I can say this - evacuations are terrifying, and watching your home or your neighbor's burn is even worse. I'm so glad you guys got out okay and are safe. Thank you for checking in with your audience, too. One of the first things we look for after the fire hits your area is the "check in/safe" alert, and we were getting worried having not seen one from you. This is definitely relieving.
@@groundpound31 Yes, we get a lot of wildfires in Northern California. One of the worst ones to date was the Camp Fire in 2018 which destroyed over 150k acres and over 18k structures. The cleanup for that was awful. We have what we call "Fire Season" where a lot of the northern counties are just on fire and there's smoke everywhere. While we get fires pretty frequently here, you never really get used to seeing it actively burning on the horizon. I'm so glad Mark is safe
@@groundpound31sadly, just because theres snow and other cold things does not mean fires cannot be an issue. A good example is Alberta, Canada. It gets very cold there, but all it takes is a spark and it can all go up in flames, especially when the area is super dry
I'm generally a silent viewer but I just wanted to say that I'm grateful that Mark, Bob, Wade, and their respective partners are so down to earth. From simple roots to a good deal of fame and fortune, none of you are belligerent jerks (even if others, and Mark himself, have said Mark can be hard to work with). Knowing that you were pretty much immediately on the ground trying to help others speaks volumes of your character. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say you mean a lot to us and that the world is a better place because of you guys being in it. Much love and please stay safe!
I think people forget that these people are human and can have human faults. You see stuff like this and remember that is just a part of who a person is, there's still a lot of good. Mark shows he is still a good an amazing person, and this is why we're all still watching him after all this time.
0:47 "I could actually see it" In case you're not familiar with wildfires, typically they're so large that you never actually see the fire itself, you just see the giant smoke plume it creates. If you are close enough to a wildfire to actually see the FIRE part, you're too close!!
YES. ONE MILLION PERCENT. especially with the intensity of that wind!? In Lahaina, with the windstorm that we had, my neighborhood was gone within minutes. with how fast they move, the idea of actually seeing the flames from your window is haunting.
While yes, there’s absolutely some truth in that, there are also so many factors that play a role. You can see fire miles away depending on the location and how big it is. While yes, a huge fire you can see 15 miles away down wind from you is still a threat, it’s a different type of threat and evacuation is not always an immediate option. Evacuating is hard. Trying to decide what items you own are not worthy of trying to save is a huge mental toll. Sure you can start moving things immediately but that comes at a cost of time, money, and labor. I can say this from experience. I’ve had grass fires that burned a couple hundred acres 10-20 miles from my house and the flames were very visible but I still had to go to work that day and still slept in my bed knowing that I could get a knock on my door in the middle of the night if conditions changed. It’s not as simple as wildfire = leave.
@ you are completely correct and bring up some good points i hadn't thought about... but in the condition of high winds where you can see flames, wildfire does definitely equal leave.. at least in my eyes. i found it really interesting that you brought up the mental toll of deciding what items to take... i completely agree with you, and have never completely taken the time to process that part until you brought it up. aside from the loss itself, the memory of running through my home, trying to find my passport and wallet and etc. while understanding that everything i'm sorting through is about to be destroyed, is definitely a deeply scarring and painful one... and i believe that kind of experience and stress CAN be, even if you're able to return to your home safely afterwards... thank you for bringing light to one of the lesser-discussed parts of wildfire survival.
The part where Mark talks about the heartbreaking event of people losing the house they spent years in it, reminds me of Palestinian People who have gone through this not only for the past year but for more than 70 years and still going through it Today. Okay, let's talk about everybody else in the entire world who went through the same in the history of mankind in every single country then. If you're going big, why not go that big?
@2DNoodelthere is no political view here. It is about mankind and humanity and has nothing to do with Mark or his youtube channel except he is actually a human in my eyes since he cares about people and his heroic actions just like what he mentioned makes me happy to follow his videos. That must’ve been terrifying, I hope you, Amy, Chica and Henry are ok and stay safe during these tough times. I also hope everyone else stays safe during these times
The fact that you went out there to help people in your neighbourhood just speaks more than a million words about how kind of a person you are. And I am sure that the workers who have to do these jobs are very thankful for your help.
Thank you for always being the best role model. I have always looked up to you, ever since I was little. I still do to this day, in my adult years. Keep doing you. We all love you so much Mark!
With what you were saying about predatory offers on destroyed property, I think the movie Twisters really brought this issue to light. I had never really thought about that as a thing that would happen, but this is a very clear situation where it is likely to occur. Especially in an area with such high real estate value as LA.
It is what Oprah and many other big celebrities did in Hawaii with the fires last years. They had been spending a decade trying to take the land from native inhabitants who refused to give it up, but then once their lands have burned and they have literally no other choice because they need the money to survive. Did Oprah help? No. Her and her buddies came in and took so much of the land giving the people scraps. So much of Hawaii hasn't recovered because the average people living there can't anymore.
my family is largely in the bay area, and my grandparents’ old home burned down in the Tubbs fire. this was & still is a HUGE problem there even all these years later, because it’s a booming area in the first place, and it’s gotten so much worse since that fire. LA is going to be even worse
People like Mark are why me and my family didn't fall into poverty after we lost our entire house to a fire, with no hope of recovering or rebuilding anything, back in 2019 (not wildfire related, just a freak electrical accident). People don't realize you can't plan for this stuff. I lost everything, including my glasses, in the fire because it was so sudden and terrifying, we didn't have time to pack bags. But people kindly taking time out of their own day to help and fund survivors keeps things afloat. Thank you for your selflessness Mark, and anyone else who donates to/supports communities after such tragic events.
I had a friend get removed twice because their first relocation got swallowed by the fire as well. They're luckily out of state now but its crazy how fast the fire can move. You're iconic for being so helpful through the stress of it all!
Absolutely! Here’ I totally get how important Go Bags are! It’s super essential for everyone to take a moment to check their supplies and make sure they’re ready to go. Being prepared really can make a huge difference, and it’s so easy to forget these little things. I really appreciate you bringing this up! On another note, I’m really glad to hear you’re safe with everything happening. LA has been quite wild lately! Just a friendly reminder to wear a mask if you can, since that ash can really hurt your lungs (trust me, I’ve been there!). Stay safe!
As someone who’s going to college to be a firefighter, my heart goes out to you mark. You do things despite not having to, yes, there are many kind people out there, but there are many that aren’t. The fact you’re doing this from the kindness in your heart is amazing. You aren’t doing it for content, otherwise I’m sure we’d have videos of you driving with your chainsaw. You aren’t doing delaying your content because you want to help people. That’s just speaks volumes to me about how you truly are this kind person. My prayers go out to you and everyone else currently evacuating or entering California for these fires. Stay safe everyone.
I pray for you as well. Serving your for your country one of the most heroic acts one can do. I hope your future holds great success and you prosper during difficult times. ❤❤❤
this is why mark is my favorite youtuber. he doesn’t do all this for the public or for his image, but just because he’s such a good, genuine guy. he’s a big content creator who truly loves his fandom and works so hard for everyone, and manages to be a youtuber and someone who actually feels like a human who exists outside of their videos. it might sound weird, but mark is like a role model to me. he’s been there for years, comforting and loving his audience like no other streamer. good luck mark, take your time. i hope you, amy, henry, and chica all stay safe during these horrible fires. thank you so much for doing everything you do.
its heartbreaking with whats happening in CA. Im praying for everyone to be as safe as possible. im praying to all the kids who may be terrified during this awful event. I have family in CA. I cant imagine how scary it is rn.
I have family near the fires, too. Some that are evacuated. Some that can't just pick up and move. There are places I love in LA that I'm afraid will burn, but I just want my folks and their lives safe. I can't even imagine what it's like to lose everything.
From a Portuguese that deals with this every year my heart goes out to the people in LA fighting the fires and having to leave their homes in a rush. I'm glad you're safe and I know how helpless one feels at a time like this
My friend currently lives in Portugal, and he said that the reason most buildings are concrete is because of wildfires. In fact, the campus where he is staying originally had wooden buildings, and they all burned down in a wildfire. Those buildings were later rebuilt out of concrete.
Thank God to see your safe, Mark. I can tell you we all have been worried sick for your safety. Stay safe and you, Amy, Chica and all you're friends, family and pets are in our prayers.
I’m glad mark is doing fine. I got family over in LA and they didn’t have to evacuate but the fire was near their place. Sucks that a lot of people and families lost their homes and loved ones. I’m from LA so it struck me harder than I wanted it to. I don’t live there but what makes it worse is the people taking advantage of those who had to evacuate. I can’t even begin to imagine or describe the pain and suffering it would be, and I just hope that nobody else has to ever deal with those feelings again

Please don't stress yourself about regular videos, we'll be here when the emergency and whatever else you need to focus on is done. Your health and your safety matters more than any video. Stuff can be replaced, videos can be delayed, there's only one you. I've been watching since 2012 and hearing you talk about helping your community and your neighbours doesn't surprise me one bit. Your actions speak louder than anything else by helping and not cashing in by making content and directing your audience to help. This is our new plan. Collectively, across the world, we can help your community too
I literally feel horrible for everyone impacted by these fires. I'm in Florida so we get more worried about water and flooding, and I can't imagine being so close to fire and even the possibility of your things getting burned down. I guess windstorms and strong wind is a universal issue, so much destruction. I'm glad you are okay and I'm happy to hear people helping each other.
Prayers to the LA residences. We make jokes about these fires but this is different. This is just not ok. Its no longer joke worthy, its just fear, panic. A shitty start to the year. Prayers send out to the state, the people, rich and poor.
I’m also from Florida I can’t imagine having to worry about a fire. All we have to worry about here is flooding. As most people know not too long ago we had to worry about the two hurricanes that hit us and how horrible that was for a while. I hope everyone that has been impacted by the fires ok and get the help they need soon. ❤
I'm in Florida that lives in the left side of Florida and I saw all the smoke and fog that came from LA that blew over to here. It was pretty dense on the left side of Florida.
Same. My prayers for everyone affected by the LA fires. And I would have thought the occasional floods and hurricanes we’ve had here in Louisiana through Florida were bad.
Honestly... Wealth and fame could not have gone to a better man. Markiplier for President. I'm glad he's advocating, and I'm happy to hear about all the donations and help going out. I'm relieved to hear that Mark and Amy and the family are safe as well.
I’m right there with you; I’m just North-west of the Palisades, and had to evacuate last week from the Kenneth fire, which burned right up to the edge of the houses in the area, not a ten minute walk from my door. I’ve seen houses in this area burn before in the Woolsey fire a few years ago, and an early childhood memory is flames across the road from my house, but this is the scariest and worst situation I’ve seen in my 30 years living here. Every responder deserves move appreciation and respect than any of us can give in a lifetime
No matter what, safety first. Amy, the pups and yourself got out safe. Friends and family are safe. Mobilize your chaotic community Mark, we are always here to help.

Thank you for touching on this Mark. Thank you for immediately taking action to help when you were able to come back to your home after the evacuations lifted. Altadena is where I grew up, so many memories, my elementary school, gone in an instant. To everyone who may come across this comment: please continue to support those affected by these fires any way you can, whether it be donations through GoFundMe, food, water, or even a few extra clothes. Every little bit helps. And to everyone in Los Angeles near the fire zones: continue to support one another and please stay safe!
We're so very glad you're safe Mark, thank you for checking in. I'm from SoCal and my grandpa's house completely burnt down so I speak for a lot of people when I say I was really worried
Fellow Los Angeles resident here. I am so sorry for your family's loss. People have lived here for generations and having everything go away in an instant is beyond description, let alone trying to explain the trauma it causes.
To those thinking about donating to an animal shelter Please donate to the LA guinea pig rescue. They’re the largest guinea pig rescue in the US and the work that they do is amazing and some of their volunteers have been effected by the fire so it would be great to show your love and support too. This amazing rescue.
As someone who lives in Lake County, CA (for context, we’ve been effected by major wildfires that either started in the county or burned into the county, the first ones were in 2015 and we had at least one major wildfire each year from 2015 up to 2022-ish, maybe earlier or later) I’m really glad that there’s such an outpouring of support. I know how devastating wildfires can be especially with major windstorms. It’s bad enough when it’s out in the sticks but in a major city? My heart goes out to the people and families who have been impacted by the fires and the firefighters on the front lines. To those near the fires: be prepared and stay safe.
From napa, I’m 40…. Before 2015 napa and the surrounding counties never had fires like the ones we’ve seen since 2015. Fires would happen every once in a while but be under control and putout within hours….. When I was a kid this shit just didn’t happen, and it’s not cause we don’t know how to fight fires or how to prevent them, it’s cause of climate change and the massive increase of conditions suitable to create HORRIBLE fires…. It used to rain more, it used to be less dry, fire season wasn’t 9+ months, windstorms with 80mph winds didn’t happen with the frequency they do now…. So to answer your kind of question, no, lake county didn’t use to have fires like you have had since 2015, and specially not every year it happening in your county or the surrounding county for like 8 years in a row….. It sucks and just going to keep getting worse…. People who refuse to believe climate change is real are either stupid or purposely blind….
this was a good update despite your tragedy mark, thank you for being such a kind and compassionate person (I was happy to hear you helped out with the trees and such) I'm from Cincinnati so while I was far from this disaster, I always feel more humbled and directly connected when you deliver some news since you grew up alongside me
I'm from the EU and never experienced something like a mass fire or any dangerous natural disasters, but this still looks scary to experience. Great to hear you and everyone else is doing OK. Stay safe, strong and notified!
This amount and severity isn't normal for the US, it's a climate change thing. And we're in no way as affected as South America or Africa. Though I know Europe is getting warmer too and you'll have to start changing up things as well
@@merchantfan We already do, the southern countries are suffering from the same problems and have to deal with fires every year also. Especially heatwaves are scary because of the drought that is increasing every single year. And it's only going to get worse. The whole planet is suffering. Multiple cities have reached record high dew points lately so I'm afraid we'll see a lot of people suffer in the future. I hate this timeline..
Fires like these aren’t entirely natural. A lot of hateful people out there hate California the most out of the states for it being so democratic leaning and having many minorities. Some will target it with arson knowing it will spread far. Multiple arson suspects have already been arrested
I'm really glad you and Amy are alright. I was honestly extremely worried when I heard about the L.A. fires and just how bad they were getting. It warms my heart to hear how, despite the fears most would experience, and the possible worries of your own home, that you immediately thought of other people and the safety concerns around the area. This is why I admire you so much. Bless you man. 💕
preserving the properties to the owners and preventing companies from taking it is a very overlooked issue. thank you so much for bringing it up.
Twisters 2 movie plot
What happened to Hawaiian natives
Companies need to back off. it's sickening thinking about how that's actually a thing that happens in these times. People who have just lost everything being given an offer that's nowhere close to being justified is something that makes me infuriated.
This is exactly what happened with Hawaii last year.
The visual of Mark running around with work boots and safety glasses, chopping up lumber to help out his neighbors, something about all of that makes me deeply happy and proud.

lyrics:
There were days when each hour was a war I fought to survive
There were nights full of nightmares and I dreaded closing my eyes
There were skies that burst open with a downpour to drown me alive
But the world took *a spark like a match in the dark*
And the *fire* brought me to life
So I'm fanning the *flames* to climb so high
'Cause there's no other way we can stay alive
'Cause we're *burning* bright
As we all unite
And when it's all said and done
We'll shine like the sun
*So don't let the fire die*
And we'll watch the sky
As it fills with light
And though the *embers* are new
Whatever you do, *just don't let the fire die*
And you'll find there'll be mornings
When the ashes and *embers* are cold
But you'll fight with a passion
And you'll never stop 'cause you know
Yeah, you know, it gets better
And your story is yet to be told
Every push, every shove, every war, every love
Yeah, the coals are beginning to glow
So I'm fanning the *flames* to climb so high
'Cause there's no other way we can stay alive
'Cause we're *burning* bright
As we all unite
And when it's all said and done
We'll shine like the sun
*So don't let the fire die*
And we'll watch the sky
As it fills with light
And though the *embers* are new
Whatever you do, *just don't let the fire die*
*Don't let the fire die*
It gets better
Just *don't let the fire die,* no
'Cause we're *burning* bright
As we all unite
And when it's all said and done
We'll shine like the sun
*So don't let the fire die*
And we'll watch the sky
As it fills with light
And though the *embers* are new
Whatever you do, *just don't let the fire die*
*Don't let the FIRE die*
Fun fact: in fire fighter simulator mark told a story about a firefighter that told him that one day LA would be caught in flames and that all it needed was the air to hit the right way that it would spread a fire across LA.
omg really ??
the fact that is was common knowledge among firefighters and still the mayor decided to get budget cuts in the fire department

While my family and I got lucky, Helene devastated much of my friends' and family's homes. My extended family closer to the harbor got at least four feet of flooding, my sister's teacher had to swim out of her home, and a friend's friend was trapped on her bed until firefighters arrived.

Aw, man. Poor people. Love and prayers .
This is definitely relieving.
yall have fire? respectfully i thought you guys in the north end of the state had snow and cold and things like that
what county is it?
Bro, markiplier needs to complain abt anything bc otherwise no content 💀

@@arjunbaweja7755Yeah🤔, I saw that and just sighed and was like what has happened to the people’s minds in this planet.
0:47 "I could actually see it"
In case you're not familiar with wildfires, typically they're so large that you never actually see the fire itself, you just see the giant smoke plume it creates. If you are close enough to a wildfire to actually see the FIRE part, you're too close!!
That's what I was thinking..... If you see the actual FLAMES, you need to leave immediately !!!!!
YES. ONE MILLION PERCENT. especially with the intensity of that wind!? In Lahaina, with the windstorm that we had, my neighborhood was gone within minutes. with how fast they move, the idea of actually seeing the flames from your window is haunting.
Or there's some type of hill nearby, where the fire was.

With what you were saying about predatory offers on destroyed property, I think the movie Twisters really brought this issue to light. I had never really thought about that as a thing that would happen, but this is a very clear situation where it is likely to occur. Especially in an area with such high real estate value as LA.
Look at Maui..fires tend to happen when the government wants something in the area.

@truerebels10_ nah, the river and ranch fires. When we got back it looked like hell and felt super cold
this was a good update despite your tragedy mark, thank you for being such a kind and compassionate person (I was happy to hear you helped out with the trees and such) I'm from Cincinnati so while I was far from this disaster, I always feel more humbled and directly connected when you deliver some news since you grew up alongside me
I hope everyone over there, including you Mark, stays safe.
Though I know Europe is getting warmer too and you'll have to start changing up things as well
@@merchantfan It's been a little bit normal in California now, the 2018 and 2020 Wildfires were bad but not as bad as it is right now
@@merchantfan We already do, the southern countries are suffering from the same problems and have to deal with fires every year also. Especially heatwaves are scary because of the drought that is increasing every single year. And it's only going to get worse. The whole planet is suffering. Multiple cities have reached record high dew points lately so I'm afraid we'll see a lot of people suffer in the future. I hate this timeline..
Summer of 2018? There were fires everywhere that year.
Good on ya Mark! Been watching you for years and you've been such an inspiration! Stay safe 🙏
Be safe Mark, including everyone else affected. Please be safe ❤
A lot of celebrities lost their homes.
I'm glad you're safe mark ❤ 💙
He is 'mark'ed safe
