i think the baby + the shaking+ the rat saying "i wonder if a fall from this height will kill me" points towards the dad shaking his baby (possibly out of anger) and killing it, then potentially killing his wife in anger, the game really only hints towards "this house" being "where it happened", indicating that whatever evil thing you did only happened here plus the fact that alcohol is a common motif in the game, abusive negligent father definitely has some ground here. nvmd just got to the hydrocloric acid barrels part, maybe you became a serial killer after being driven insane by the events i described above? also the steam page says "‘Content warnings include but are not limited to: Graphic content: blood, gore, domestic abuse, domestic violence, asphyxiation, strangulation, suffocation, murder, animal attacks. Addiction and Substance Abuse: references to alcoholism Mental Health: hallucinations, phobias, schizophrenia, implications of suicide‘" note the domestic abuse

meanwhile at the evil AAA game-maker corporation building, the legion of DEI is thinking how to tarnish a possibly-good game with DEI and microtransactions
Here's what I think is happening. The ending makes it clear that the rats symbolize our character's wife. Which means that the scene where the rats attack the crib are symbolic of the wife mistreating the baby in some way. That ties in with the art works that all feature a parent and their dead child (e.g. the Virgin Mary with dead Jesus). When the rat says "I wonder if a fall from this height would kill me" they are referencing the wife dropping the baby, and killing it. The photo of the wife implies that she was having some sort of mental health crisis and was maybe not to blame for what happened. Our character responds to the death of the child by going berserk, and killing her. And the game is about him/us confronting this. Or perhaps just being haunted by her ghost.
"I wonder if a fall from this height would kill me" is also a spongebob reference to when quidward was smol and patrik was squeezing him and shaking him. I dont know why nobody pointed that out
The outside with the two houses is based on the painting: Christina's world (1948) It depicts a woman with Polio crawling through the field since she refused a wheelchair.

I could NOT take the horror undertones seriously, not when the rat is so goddamn hilarious. His noises would instantly take me out of the fear and I would start laughing.
I think this game is a black comedy/parody of all the indie games where the twist is that the protagonist is a bad person being haunted by their sins. With both the horror and the comedic moments being such opposite extremes, it seems intentional

i think the baby + the shaking+ the rat saying "i wonder if a fall from this height will kill me" points towards the dad shaking his baby (possibly out of anger) and killing it, then potentially killing his wife in anger, the game really only hints towards "this house" being "where it happened", indicating that whatever evil thing you did only happened here
plus the fact that alcohol is a common motif in the game, abusive negligent father definitely has some ground here.
nvmd just got to the hydrocloric acid barrels part, maybe you became a serial killer after being driven insane by the events i described above?
also the steam page says "‘Content warnings include but are not limited to:
Graphic content: blood, gore, domestic abuse, domestic violence, asphyxiation, strangulation, suffocation, murder, animal attacks.
Addiction and Substance Abuse: references to alcoholism
Mental Health: hallucinations, phobias, schizophrenia, implications of suicide‘"
note the domestic abuse
And when the wife kills you, the last thing you see is a pair of blue and red flashing lights
@@durillongaming also, the painting we see in the closet is "Saturn devouring his son" by Francisco Goya, or based on it at least. It's pretty clear how that relates to the idea of a father killing his own son with his bare hands.
@@durillongaming No. It was definitely beforehand.
" I wonder if she had any idea what was going on under the floorboards" is one of the rat's lines. He was hiding bodies under the floor
19:58 i thought the same exact thing, the rat sounds a lot like perfect cell and then sounds like mark when it yells sometimes. props to the voice actor
Fun fact with Mark and DBZA: on DBZA Commentary Videos for the Broly Movie, Mark was one of the few people they were considering to have voice for Broly
@@endgamer3000I remember years ago on their let’s play channel they also considered him for Mr Satan
Now I can't stop imagining Broly going "Try not to faint from looking at my evil, awesome bodddeeeh~"
That specific line straight up sounded like Alucard
Sometimes Indie Devs scare me, half the stuff they make is either weird or messed up in some way.
art disturbs the comforted and comforts the disturbed
@@brokenntv4739this is way too poetic for TH-cam comments
meanwhile at the evil AAA game-maker corporation building, the legion of DEI is thinking how to tarnish a possibly-good game with DEI and microtransactions
So which does this count as?
Indie devs making a game about cleaning dinosaur poop or something that casually questions the way you see life and your entire philosophy and beliefs
DER RATTENSCHÜTTLER sounds like a german fairytale, love it
Here's what I think is happening.
You're the loreshaker.
Postpartum depression comes to mind in regards to the wife.
I thought the baby was eaten by rats because the rats poured into the crib but I guess stuff like this is open for interpretation
10:44 "You have a nasty-HGHXHXGH!!" **proceeds to be choked**

Professional rat shaker review: “yeah thats what i woulda done”
Ok for those that do or don't know. Ratshaker is a kickstarting game to fund Sunscortcged Studios for the upcoming long awaited DEAD SPACE-LIKE game Negative Atmosphere. Mark, king of Dead Space. You know you want to play a game like that
The more mark skakes that rat I'm convinced he's doing the sound effects for the rat offscreen lol
I was to but the rat's VA has been commenting (with quite good taste and humor I might add) in quite a few replies, so it almost certainly is an entirely separate individual from Mr. Mark. E. Plier.
The fact that this was originally a 48hr game jam game makes so much sense

Mark should not be trusted with free roam, the first thing he does is just stare directly at the sun TwT
And he wonders why Chica does it too 😂
The VA for the rat has a strong Mark like voice. Every once in a while I kept thinking it was Mark making those noises.
I like how Mark sacrificed from almost being an engineer and became a TH-camr to entertain us. Love, you mark keep up

10:32 i love how when any horror game has a bathroom sink in it everyone always expects there to be a baby in it thanks to PT xD
If you don't mind me asking, what is PT?
@ silent hill PT was a cancelled game that has a demo that to this day is better than most horror games.
I'm so happy there's subtitles! That aren't auto-generated! I haven't seen this since like, seven years ago. This geniunely makes me so happy, you have no idea.
3:28 the rat first sounds like Mark then starts to sound like his mate Bob🤣 I'm genuinely convinced they sampled Mark's videos for these sounds
2:42 Average American: asks if there is a tornado then just continues doing what they were doing.
No point in packing everything up if the tornader is still 20 minutes up the way

Amy is the best at recommending games for Mark to play 😂 I love their relationship so much!
The rat screaming sounds IDENTICAL to Mark's screams and I had to do a double take 😭
"Why does that drain all of my rat?" Is the greatest question I've ever heard mark ask
The baby scene really got me because I had seen that something like that happened in real life. Baby eaten alive by rats while the parents ignored the cries...it was censored police cam footage but it's just so harrowing...
Was justice made?
@@kee7018Justice can never be made for a situation like that. We can do things to make ourselves feel better. Punish those who neglect. But that is far beyond what justice can serve
it's kinda crazy how much the rat's VA sounds like mark?? 😭 for a hot minute i almost couldn't distinguish if it really wasn't him...
This game is deeply unsettling and incredibly silly.
And very predictable. Knew what was coming, since it's somewhat of a psychological horror type game.
I love when he says "so alot of bottles"... and for a second i think he was playing Kleska and those were the bodies of Wade and Bob. So many bottles to collect!

The description, the title, and the very premise of this game have me incredibly bamboozled. Can't wait.
I think watching it only made things worse...
Cant be the only one who thought the subtitles were edited and not apart of the actual game?? 😂
That rat sounds like 2014 Markiplier (specifically the gibberish noises Mark makes) every time he gets shook lol
Fun fact: rats can easily survive leaps from several stories off buildings due to their small mass and terminal velocity, answering the question the rat poses about 'falling from this height'.
Mark: "I am a man who owns FIVE OVENS!"
Thief: *Steals stove*
Mark: "Who took my stove!?"

3:50 "Did you know this works? 😏"
*Shows us his THUMB action.*
"Betcha didn't 😏"
I'd like to think that the devs didn't even get anyone to voice the rat making noises and they just spliced together voice clips of Mark making noises XD
The fact that a grown man is moaning into his microphone for a video game, just makes it even funnier.
You can do the rodent shaker, huh? The rat shaker, gimme the rat shaker.
Honestly, my favorite part is the sheer fact that Mark knows who Takahata is. Now, does he know who he was during DBZA and Helsing Ultimate Abridged or after he became a V-Tuber?
I don't remember what video, but a while back Markiplier did the "Are you... going to eat that?" from the Cell vs Kenshiro video, so I'm pretty sure its from DBZA.
It was during DBZA. Fun fact, Mark was almost recruited to voice Broly in the Abridged Broly movie. But the schedules didn't match up and so it didn't work out.
In one of his The Forest videos with Sean, he and Mark talked about DBZA, as well.
Only 1 hour has passed and the video already has subtitles in a bunch of languages, truly peak
if this was a vr game mark would’ve been unstoppable 😭
