    This was probably one of the most complete therapy sessions I have seen with Dr. K. Not that the other ones were bad, but Muta is just so cooperative and introspective he makes it work flawlessly.

    • @Kaiziak
      @Kaiziak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      They didn't really come to any solid conclusions to a lot of his problems though. There's been a lot of sessions where they're able to map out a game plan and understand in-depth the philosophy of the solutions.

      Muta's case is a bit harder because we don't really know about his background is rather unknown, you don't really get much glimpse about his past except from what he said.
      I know muta is kinda that guy who can communicate well but for sure, it's gonna be a bit harder to crack down his mental problem in a session.
      Hope there's more Dr. K session with mutahar soon.

      @@Kaiziak I think that's mostly on Mutahar's part and how much of a hard time he has opening up, other ppl are a lot more expressive of their personal emotions while all of Muta's case here was literally him TRYING to open up because he hasn't before. So I'd say they did A LOT of progress.

    All jokes aside, i have a feeling that Muta is basically living for the tomorrow that never comes. He's always working to make sure (heh) that everything goes smoothly tomorrow or later in the week, (and i think that, while he would probably die before admitting this to anyone, but no matter how small / miniscule, some part of him wants to one day just say, everything's been taken care of, i can finally have time for myself) but when that day / week ends, there's always more. There's always more to be done, more things to worry about, more things that he needs to make sure (heh) go smoothly in the future that he never gets any rest or in general just time for himself that he doesn't feel is wasted because he could be working on something else.

      Also using the "police can stop anyone driving around" thing as an example is weird when he says a moment later that they never even enforced it and didn't mention the government backpedaled on it hard.

    No memes or jokes, the bottling up of emotions may be part of the reason Muta had that severe case of constipation a year or so back that nearly put him in the hospital. An over abundance of stress in one's life can cause chronic abdominal tension that can be a major factor in becoming constipated. Then the stress itself of being constipated then starts a negative cognitive loop, which itself is further amplified by the stress disorder, that causes the muscle tension in the abdomen to become maximumly tense turning the case of constipation into a severe to worse case scenario ordeal.

    Pretty interesting how anxious Muda's childhood and teenagehood was but he calls it a "normal one" I mean it is externally but internally I think it hurt and was very stressful, makes you wonder how many people thinks they had a normal childhood but actually it was not very pleasant, not saying that is good or bad, its just interesting to see each persons pov on their view of life.

    I am not from India but I am a child of immigrants, first generation in the US. So much of his story resonates with me. My only question I wish was touched upon was how to deal with feelings of guilt when it comes to parents. I just feel I NEED to make sure they have a good retirement knowing that it’s gonna be much more taxing than if I only provided for myself. I wish they had the means to have a more financially secure future but we all struggled and they helped me go to college at the cost of their retirement.

    • @NorthHollywood
      @NorthHollywood 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The thing is, it was much more easier in my parents time (1980's when they immigrated) to work a median wage and get the house, the car, and the dog. Us kids of first gen immigrants have a much harder time simply providing that stuff for ourselves, let alone providing for our parents in their old age. Dont let it bog you down too much, the deck is heavily stacked against us.

    I mean, beating yourself up and having that constant fear of uncertainty pushing your mind to work continuously and hardly settle down resonates deep down my soul. I've had many such similar conversations with my dad as well (only lately, ngl) and I can't believe at the amount of relatable stuff I found in his experience and in mine. Sure I don't live in Canada (living in India), but the things are pretty much the same, though, jeez man, Muta you worked your ass off, whereas I just didn't do shit because I was too weak to act (failed to get good grades in 12th, failed JEE, had backlogs in CSE course). I shared the same paranoia that you had, but the difference is that you acted upon it and worked your ass off, whereas I didn't (maybe I did, I dunno, I don't have any spectators to cross check). Sounds to me like his house's words were "no weak links." Dad is working how he has to and can't be home a lot, mom is living as a single mom, brother is just a kid like you. Everyone is doing what they have to, so you got to do what you have to. If that means doing a semester of work in less than 1 month so you don't get held behind, then you do it, because there are no weak links.

    Just stumbled across this, big respect to you both. I had no idea he was going through so much, and can definitely back up what was said about how terminally ill ppl just want to have authentic two-way relationships since someone explained this to me very well before they passed away, they - like Muta - didn't want to be seen as weak or the pity case or treated like the walking dead person. They craved that normalcy and I think that's an important point that all of us can take away regardless of how much we can relate to the anxiety controlling our lives.
