You just had to be there. Growing up when Eminem was really on his shit, then he brought 50 cent into the mix & they owned the industry for a solid 5-7 years. It was so fun growing up seeing this GOAT go to work on everyone 😂
As Rhianna once said “I feel blessed cuz he has so much inside his head. There’s something wrong with Eminem”😂 She of course has several songs with him and loves his mind.
I don't think people were mad that Eminem said that he was using black music to make himself wealthy. I think his objective was that he as admitting to doing it. Elvis stoled black music and got wealthy and never once gave credit which is such bullshit! Eminem however did not do this. He is a white rapper who admits to using black art/black rap and he is successful at it. He has had to prove himself 100% of the way and has not been handed anything. Dr. Dre found him and had to fight to get him signed because white rappers weren't a thing (and still aren't really except for him). Rap is not the white man's gift if you ask me and well I am white. I personally believe that Eminem is the only white man who can rap and does it well. And he is humble enough to know that if it wasn't because of black culture he would be no one.
Basically when em first blew up all the kids were listening to him and every organisation in the world was trying to band or censor him so a lot of his music at the time was either doubling down on the explicit nature like kill you, criminal etc or he made songs clowning people who were trying to shut his stuff down. It was a fun time lol
The more they tried to cancel him the worse his lyrics got just to piss people off😂. To this day Gen Z was trying to cancel him for songs he made 20 years ago so that’s why he dissed them in the song “Realest” with EZ Mil
The FCC is a government run organization that deems what is appropriate to put on mainstream media... that's why the majority of Em is underground.. The Eminem journey goes deeeppp...i can drop some links if you want
You’d have to think along the lines of the current frenzy around Taylor Swift to grasp how popular Eminem was at this time globally. Conservatives did not like his influence over their children and their exposure to ideas they didn’t approve. The pushback from various groups and politicians was similar to what Elvis faced when he brought (black) rock music to white audiences and had the audacity to wiggle his hips in a suggestive manner. Much as Elvis’ pelvis was censored and Rick music was demonized, so was Eminem. There were many attempts to ban or censor his music/performances, and those attempts are referenced in many songs from that time period. Calling it out on wax was Eminem’s way of fighting back.
Came out in 2002. Activist groups were trying to cancel him back then and get his music pulled from MTV due to some of his homophobic and misogynistic lyrics
Thing is he’s actually not homophobic but those terms were commonly used by rappers and as insults. One of his best friends is Elton John. People take everything personal now and this world is so damn soft!
Wassup Gang! Is This 🔥 OR 🗑️? YALL LMK

This song dropped in 2002, not 2010.
