There is an interview with Snoop talking about the hot on them in Hawaii & them quickly having to leave. 50 had the beef with Ja/Murder Inc before signing to Shady Aftermath. Preme placed a hit on him in 2000. The beef was one of the reasons labels wouldn’t sign him. They tried to quash it when 50 signed, but it eventually reved back up and Eminem got dragged in when Ja mentioned Hailey. The song is more about where things were headed than a death in a beef Eminem was involved in. Also, the song samples Toy Soldiers by Martika about a friend who overdosed. It was a hit around 88/89 and is a great song too.
