It’s going to fit in every time of life…there’s always That Guy tries to help her , cute little mess she needs ME because of her trauma, and THEN she does something Effed up, He catches her. Then she cries that he’s all she’s got.. Man he loves her so much it’s killing him. But she does it again and again and again. Except he knows this isn’t his life he imagined. It’s killing the both of them. He’s gotta be the one who lets go. And that’s heart wrenching. He finally understands. The sun comes up…birds still sing…World Turnin’….. Shake it off if you’re listening to this in that funk. It hurts a little less every day.. AND GHOST HER. For real I’m a girl, believe me, I have Seen some really humiliating shit women do to their men. And the other guy drops her off a block away from the house.yup, she was with the girls and the “ WINE” made her tired. Then blows you off hen she gets home. And you know she wasn’t where she says.
@@Earthangel63 I’m a 56 year old grown man and your comment explaining this song made me cry. I divorced in ‘98 and remember listening to this song at the time but not realizing what he was actually saying. Your comment explained my situation with my ex perfectly. Though I know I’m better off without her, the divorce destroyed my faith in women and I’ve never really recovered to the point I can trust again.
I dated someone like her too once. Wild, beautiful, reckless, passionate, creative, kind, but also self-destructive. Those are the ones you never forget. An adventure, a roller coaster of passion and emotions. What an experience to learn from as a young man in order to realize what I actually need.
Went through that with someone when I was in my early 20's. She didn't want to see what was right in front of her and got into shitty relationship after shitty relationship, turned to drugs to cope, and wound up dead a few years later. I'm in my 40's now, and married, and not a single day goes by where I don't think about what might have happened if I tried a little harder, or had the knowledge I have now back then. Some people just don't want to be saved, and that's the sad reality of it all.
@@jasonleightonDTAI 100% agree with you. I randomly found this song and read this message. I believe your comment is the message I needed to see. Thank you. ❤
You are so right. And not to separate from your point . . . but for me: "So I sat back down, and I had a beer, and felt" . . . sorry that I didn't have MORE beer (as it was the last one in my 'fridge'). Damn it!
He thought I was the only one caught in addiction but we both were. He loved this song and told me it was him singing to me. I got sober in 2001 he didn’t and died from a drug overdose in 2017, my heart has never been the same. But this song will always be my husband singing to me🙏❤️🙏 thank you ❤️❤️
This band saved my fucking life, and that's no God dame joke! This band, this album, this song exploded onto the seen at a time when I was out of fucking steam. I was a confused 14 year old kid stuck in a fucked up family, and no one to turn to. Then, this comes out and I just wanted to fucking cry my eyes out, because I knew that I had something to live for.
@@RealOGMudbone I'm a fan of Classic Rock and some old R&B too. Pink Floyd, Hall & Oates, the Eagles, Seals & Croft, Hendrix, Otis Redding, Al Green, The Supremes. The good tunes. The 90's have a special place in my heart though. Hootie & The Blowfish, Matchbox Twenty, Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Natalie Imbruglia. The 90's were awesome bro! I definitely took them for granted. '96-'99 were 3 very magical years.
@@territucker7926 Yeah. Plenty of Hootie music I like well enough. Not one of my favorite bands, but they did good stuff. But Darius' voice just flies. Terrific!
Do you guys know Mr Rucker has put out a bunch of solo albums as a country star? I worked with a guy who never heard of hootie and the blowfish but liked Darius Rucker.
Grew up in the 90s and thought Hootie & the Blowfish were good. The more & more I listen to this band today and actually listen to the lyrics of their songs, you realize they were actually miles above anyone they are compared to. Everything about this song in particular is just perfect. Darius' voice is perfect for the lyrics, the acoustic riffs, the speed of the song, everything is damn near perfect.
100% agree! I was so young listening to them in the late 90s-2000s and now i binge listen to them everyday lately. I even bought a sealed cassette of this album recently 😭🍻

I was a pre-teen/teen during the 90's and couldn't wait to see what the future held. Now that I see how the world and life are, I want the 90's to return. Everything was so much simpler and more peaceful back then.
It was the 80's for me but feel the same."At best, happiness is a fleeting emotion: a sensation to be enjoyed while it is here, however short the visit. Sadness, happiness' ugly twin, has the same fleeting visiting pattern. When sadness visits, we have to endure despite wanting rid of it."
@@self_cancelled1776 The 90's were the end of life as I once knew it and the beginning of a 9 to 5 mind numbing career struggle but the music was still good at least the early part of the decade!
@@pasander4371 Ahh the good ole 70's when people would leisurely change their car oil on a sunny Saturday and pour the old oil down the nearest storm drain. "The water will take it away son".
God Bless You Carrie. I can't imagine what you have been thru, but one thing I do know is (being that I had been in the program & had 8 years of sobriety & those were the absolute best 8 years of my life), that when you're sober & get to know who you really are & your potential. But, I think the best thing I took from my journey is I now have a spiritual relationship with my God, something I always wanted but could never find. I am sending prayers your way. Just pray & stay sober. God Bless You.
Thank you all for the support and love it really means a lot to me it was the hardest thing I have ever gone threw I don't wish on anyone but for a while I really thought I was dealing with it it was not till I got sober I realized I never felt with it I covered it up
I remember back in the 90s I used to get sick of their songs because I felt like they were "overplayed" compared to other songs I liked better...man I was taking them for granted! Give me these guys a million times over the kind of shit that's on the radio now. Time, why you punish me...
+boudicca storm i love your name sake, she was a true ass kicker. i think it was pretty shitty what Paulinus did to her after Prasutagus died, i just wish she had gotten to kill him.
I was lucky to know a good thing when I heard it...bought this CD and played the hell out of it. Now when I hear these songs again I get head to toe goose bumps! I loved the 80's but this song makes me miss a special part of the 90's.

💜 this song always make me cry....! It reminds me of my sisters broken heart and her dealing with her depression. She in a good place now. I'm sorry for your loss, I lost my dad to drug addiction. 💜💜💜
The 90s caliber of songwritting be it ballads, rap, r&b, metal, rock, alternative is just a chasm of separation from todays lyrics. The songwriting is just poetic, real, from the heart, and that is why it transcends time and still applies today - and it will still resonate 20 - 50 years from now.
I've been listening to this since it first came out. I'm 60 years old. It doesn't matter, the ballads of this time period are still the best IMO. GETS YOU RIGHT IN YOUR FEELS 💜
Music as a whole has lost most of what makes music real. I think technology has made a negative impact on it. Also record labels and greed has fucked it all up.
My heart is hurting so badly. I lost my only child September 9. In Loving Memory of Kaylah Nicole aka Kenny. She went to be with Angels & Jesus. I’m praying so hard for a better 2021 World Love Vision Healing Pain, Shame & Addiction with Music & Art Love Therapy. My life long partner of 40 years has battled addiction all our lives. Now, when she has won that battle, she gets hit with Stage 4 cancer. How much can one person withstand? She is the strongest person I know. She keeps fighting everyday. This song brings up so many memories and emotions. I stood by her through addiction and am standing by her now. It has been one hell of a life.
I understand if you are religious or not, but let me pray for you and your family. God's plan, as long as she keeps her feet in the dirt. God Bless, Much love.

Saw them in Glasgow over 20 years ago, will never forget it, they wouldn’t stop, we wouldn’t let them, they played over time nearly an hour, my favourite band EVER !!
20 years old …. living out my car … drunk … playing this on repeat and singing it at the top of my lungs. I remember her. I want to tell her it gets better.
Dude , this is gonna fade . Everything does. Cry it out, just don’t give up cause you were put here to do great things. Even just making a stranger laugh..it echoes through the web of life. WE NEED YOU !!!! 😘😘✌️✌️✌️
It’s hard if not impossible to compete with a bottle, a pill, a line, a needle … for those of us that were determined to try, we learn that when in love with an addict, we’ll never be number one, and rarely even number two in their lives. I myself became an addict to join the misery instead of letting go. That was some time ago. Although I’ve healed, I still feel others pain in the core of my heart. Peace to all of you. ❤️✝️
anyone who didn't like this song has never been balls deep in love. the one that no matter how many years pass and how bad it got you still think about her /him and wonder.
This song hits hard to me ! After I lost my twin son's and my mom and dad all between 2009 and 2011. I cried for 3 years! And I could not control where I was , the tears would just fall. I could be at the bank or grocery store. This is my favorite song that describes me in that time of my life!!! Tears 😢
This is probably one of the most powerful, emotional songs of the era. The lyrics sometimes brings me to tears. I have always been that guy that would run over 10 good girls to get to that rotten one and I have suffered in the process. Love this song
I feel the same and have done the same. Your comment reminds me of a saying I once heard: "Never ignore a person that loves and cares for you, because one day you may realize that you've lost the moon while chasing the stars".
when you're living in the 90s and the Blowfish are just living along with you as background music at a bar or a party or wherever or even just playing it in your car, you don't realize until 20 years later just how much it was a part of your life. Rucker's voice is timeless.
Ryan Yoder This is not an underrated song. Where did you get that from? Just because you might of just heard it, and realized, you don't hear it everywhere, never ment it wasn't BIG when it came out.
dscott351 Dudes thinking meatloaf is bad as well with his logic. In my opinion he insulted the song and band. Some people man, blow my mind with their logic. (Right after I post this I'm having a beer and feeling sorry for this fool)
I've said this, and I will continue to say it; the 80's and the 90's were the Golden Age of music. For they truly had passion, meaning, and emotion like no other.
i am with you on that . time is cruel and so is this NOT music crap . i never thought i would say Adam Levine is great . he is the closest to rock we have . watch his " purple rain " tribute with Trains lead singer . Adam can rip a guitar apart . trust me . btw , long live the 80's .
I was living in a family shelter with my mom when this album came out, one of the other moms let us borrow the cassette and I would just sit in our room listening to this on our little boom box.
E A I do not miss the 90s. That's when I had to become a responsible adult, raise children, have a career or job. It was a very stressful time. I often took comfort in MY music--the 60s-70s.
@@jschuler53 I was still a kid in the 90s, so these were my similar less stressful times. We played outside until the porch lights came on. We played flashlight tag, we went to blockbuster to rent VHS tapes, and we met up at skating rinks on the weekends.
My oldest was born in 1990... I love that my girls were raised with awesome music 🎶 and we can still listen, and go to a better place with the lyrics together!
My parents took me to see these guys in 2009 I think, and as a teenager I just kept thinking about how lame it was going to be. Looking back, it was probably one of the best experiences of my life with my parents and I’ll never forget how much they enjoyed me being able to experience it with them. Nowadays this music is pure nostalgia and i just imagine how many great moments in people’s lives this band must be responsible for.
That’s an AWSOME story. Music can connect people and bring back memories like nothing else. I’m glad you have that experience and the memory to keep with you the rest of your life.

🎶 LYRICS 🎶 She sits alone by a lamp post Tryin' to find the thought that's escaped her mind She says, "Dad's the one I love the most But Stipe's not far behind" She never lets me in, only tells me where she's been When she's had too much to drink I say that I don't care, I just run my hands through her dark hair Then I pray to God you gotta help me fly away And just let her cry if the tears fall down like rain Let her sing if it eases all her pain Let her go, let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be, let her be This morning I woke up alone, found a note standing by the phone Sayin', "Maybe, maybe I'll be back someday" I wanted to look for you You walked in, I didn't know just what I should do So I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself Sayin' let her cry if the tears fall down like rain Let her sing if it eases all her pain Let her go, let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be, let her be No, no, no, no Let her cry let her cry if the tears fall down like rain Let her sing if it eases all her pain Let her go, let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be, ah Last night I tried to leave, cried so much I could not believe She was the same girl I fell in love with long ago She went in the back to get high I sat down on my couch and cried, yellin' "Oh, mama, please help me" Won't you hold my hand and Let her cry if the tears fall down like rain Let her sing if it eases all her pain Let her go, let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain Let her sing, if it eases all her pain Let her go, let her walk right out on me And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be Ah, let her be

Having grown up in the 70's, I witnessed the caliber of songwriters that came out during that period. Quality songwriting. Heartfelt songs with meaning behind the words they wrote. Words that came from their hearts and souls and that touched those who listened to them. Words that people could relate to. This song takes me back to those days of quality wordsmiths. There is more to music than to simply entertain. It reminds us that as different as we are, we share one very important thing.....emotions. If this song doesn't move you, than you may be listening to the words, but your aren't hearing them.

I dated someone like her too once. Wild, beautiful, reckless, passionate, creative, kind, but also self-destructive. Those are the ones you never forget. An adventure, a roller coaster of passion and emotions. What an experience to learn from as a young man in order to realize what I actually need.
Just went through something similar as a man in my late 20s, and gosh its definitely something. Hopefully in time I can come to grow from it
Went through that with someone when I was in my early 20's.

@user-hn1uy9uw2n thank you for your kind words! If you don't already do this introduce your kids to your favorite music so that someday when you are gone they will have something to go back and listen to to remember you by! Even if they don't like the music someday they will appreciate it there is a lot of music I didn't like listening to with my dad that I find comfort in now! He was a huge 90s alternative fan I miss him so much cherish all the time with your kids!

🎶 LYRICS 🎶
She sits alone by a lamp post
Tryin' to find the thought that's escaped her mind
She says, "Dad's the one I love the most
But Stipe's not far behind"
She never lets me in, only tells me where she's been
When she's had too much to drink
I say that I don't care, I just run my hands through her dark hair
Then I pray to God you gotta help me fly away
And just let her cry if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be, let her be
This morning I woke up alone, found a note standing by the phone
Sayin', "Maybe, maybe I'll be back someday"
I wanted to look for you
You walked in, I didn't know just what I should do
So I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself
Sayin' let her cry if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be, let her be
No, no, no, no
Let her cry let her cry if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be, ah
Last night I tried to leave, cried so much I could not believe
She was the same girl I fell in love with long ago
She went in the back to get high
I sat down on my couch and cried, yellin'
"Oh, mama, please help me"
Won't you hold my hand and
Let her cry if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow, let her be
Ah, let her be
Thank you
Dar's the one I love the most, short for Darius
@@heatherboren2147... Exactly and Stipe as in Michael Stipe's not far behind
My mom told me when she went to Tennesse she missed her flight and Darius Rucker said my mom could fly on his private jet and he sang songs for my family. (THIS IS TRUE. I HAVE VIDEO FOOTAGE.)
You have video footage of your mom telling you about her "experience" with Darius Rucker on his private jet? Um...ok. lol

I still remember carrying my ex wife to bed when she became addicted to pills and alcohol. A few years later our marrriage ended. Afterward, her eyes became so empty and lifeless. I tried and tried but there was nothing i could do until she wanted to stop. Luckily she eventually did and is better now. I'll never forget the first time we met when we were 8 years old.
my girl is struggling with depression. im trying to help her. im lost. I Let Her Cry

I took my daughter to see Hootie and the Blowfish using tickets I won in a radio contest, right before they hit it big. They were playing at a National Guard Armory. 😊 Good memory.
Word!!!
Olga Levin I must be missing something here. May I ask what point you are trying to convey.
Sorry. Using slang here. When someone says "word!" It means they agree with what you said.
Olga Levin Oh, I had no clue. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated!
MissDistarr60 YOU ARE TOO COLLEGE INDEPTH KEEP IT REAL .....
A friend showed me the Nicki Minaj song Anaconda. My ears bled. I came here for healing. Already I'm feeling better...
hahahaha
You poor thing.
+Jim Payette I hear ya, and just watching a few seconds of it, not only did my ears bleed, but so did my eyes. I don't get how people can like that kind of music, it's so vulgar.
+Jim Payette Thank's cool dawg. I came here after listening to that song. Turns out musical tastes are eclectic and vary by person to person.
Who is Nicki Minaj, and what is Anaconda? I guess a rap song or something DJ related?
bout to sing this song for school talent show coming up wish me luck
Good luck this song is so beautiful. I have a feeling you'll do great.
How'd it go mate?
