I love normal people and conversations with friends! I feel like Rooney always writes very realistic characters with realistic thoughts compared to what we are used to reading. It makes me feel closer to the characters throughout their lives and thoughts:)

I love Free Little Libraries! There are none around where I live which is sad but I still love them. Also I just finished Better Than The Movies because Haley said it was her favorite romance book ever so I had to read it. It is literally my most favorite book I’ve ever read. I annotated the whole time I was reading and I wrote down the lyrics to the songs on the side of the pages and it was so much fun!! If you haven’t read it you seriously need to!
Can I be honest, I really don’t understand why a book is automatically bad because it discusses a taboo topic? It’s fictional, it’s not meant to be a manual to follow for your real life…
Debut doesnt mean its the first book shes ever written. Its the first book of hers that ever been PUBLISHED. To be a writer you have to send your stuff in and get rejected. Im sure Sally Rooney went through so much

We have 8 little libraries within walking distance of my house. One of the libraries is highly technical books, a YA one, one for little kids, one in the million dollar and up houses- latest releases and book of the month club books, and one that is full of ARCs. The lady proofs for some of the publishers here in town. Great hunting!
I’m one of the people who hated Normal People. I just couldn’t get away from the ick feeling I had while reading. But I’m honestly happy you enjoyed it since I gave the book to someone else who wanted to read it. This video is directly responsible for me reading Normal People the last two weeks because your review was such a high recommendation of a book I'd never even heard of; thank you. It is really solid, and I thought the no quotation marks around dialogue gimmick would be confusing and annoying, but I kind of get it after reading it and would be interested in experimenting with something like that in my own work. This video's also indirectly responsible for me going to my local library for the first time in about 6 months, I think it's cool that your video about little libraries where you actually preferred a book you owned got me to go to my local library and check out the book you owned.

I've always found the claim that classics are for dissection and literary analysis while ya books are entertaining and fun. I don't understand why people do not find reading older lit entertaining. I think that there are some real gems out there that are not only incredibly insightful but entertaining as well.

There are five open bookshelves in walking distance from my flat and I frequently get books from them and honestly, some of them are great finds, some are just plain weird and some are disgusting. I don’t know what people do with their books, but the amount of weird sticky spots I found on and in books is very irritating to me. But it’s still fun. Once I found a collection of 12 Agatha Christie books in perfect condition and once I found a collection of 5 books about the former dictator of my country (it was a weirdly sympathetic collection). So it’s always interesting to see which books other people read and which books people want to give away.
I’m a fan of u and Ryan, and right after watching his latest video, I came across yours. Once I finished watching it, I ended up ordering Normal People by Sally Rooney. I noticed how your eyes sparkled when you talked about the book, and it really resonated with me. These past few days, I haven’t been feeling well, and because of that, I haven’t been able to pick up any of my books. I’m an avid psych/crime thriller fan, but something happened that’s made me want to step away from that genre for a while. Without reading, though, I feel like life gets even more exhausting, so I don’t want to give up my hobby. I’m realizing that maybe I should try other genres to give myself a break, something that could still offer comfort and a sense of escape in a new way. That’s why I’m looking forward to Normal People so much-I hope it brings a fresh spark to my reading journey! 🌸💗

I think it depends. For me, I thought the characters were super bland, and her handling of characters handling trauma is abysmal.
