- Link's Awakening is out on the Nintendo Switch, so what better way to celebrate than with a cover medley of the best songs from the game! I teamed up with great musicians to bring you a woodwind ensemble Link's Awakening Medley!

When the reveal trailer of the Links Awakening remake first appeared on Nintendo Direct, I immediately set to work transcribing the music. I loved the interplay between all the voices, and using bass clarinet as the bass voice gives the bassoon the freedom to play other roles in its tenor range to create a variety of fun colors in the ensemble. After finishing the main theme, I started arranging the B section of the overworld theme in a similar style. The Capcom games gave us such a cool B section that you never get to hear anywhere else. I really love Sword Search and you can't leave out the Ballad of the Windfish, so soon enough a medley was in the works. Thanks! I've figured out some neat tricks, but it still does take a lot of time. But with this kind of chamber music where the instrumentation can change so fast, and how jarring hard cuts can feel, it feels almost essential for something like this.

Im really happy this actually has bassoon in it. Its hard to find a really nice song and no cover with a bassoon it it 💕 I play flute, bassoon, guitar and alto sax and I play bassoon most for concert band. This is amazing

@@Bassoonify no shame 😂 recorder intonation is pretty hard imo and post production exists for a reason!
@@SamanthaBallard yeah, unfortunately so is bassoon. Even a great reed with good tone will keep climbing sharp the more they're played. Honestly without some pitch correction, I would have to spend so much longer on each cover than I already do

I'll have to include more bass clarinet in the future! Gives a lot of options to play with the colors of the instruments and allows bassoon to take on some new roles!

Thanks Rellius! The video editing itself was about a solid 2 weeks or so, might be awhile before I put that much detail into split screens again for a bit

How can I get a better tone on my clarinet? Soundole's is so great😍
Practice long tones. Try many mouth pieces and many different brand, models and hardness of reeds. Get a wooden clarinet if you have a plastic one.
I play on Vandoren 5RV Lyre profile 88 mouthpiece (and so Nicolas Baldeyrou), Vandoren 3.0 reeds, and Yamaha 550AL clarinet. My sound is good.
You have to try stuff for yourself.
@@notallgarbage I got the tip from my band leader that I should try different mouthpieces but I don't know where to do that. I don't know if 3.0 is a little bit to hard for me because I'm playing with 2.5 and not so long know but I will try that. Oh and I have a wooden clarinet because I never wanted a plastic one😅
