All of you, with your kind comments, are much appreciated. Neil was, for me as well, a beacon of intellect and wisdom, both musically and philosophically. Only in my imagination am I such a drummer and lyricist. He had a clever and unique knack for both, with his ever changing percussion arrangements to his incredible ability to turn a sentence into a virtual syllabus of double or sometimes reversed meaning. Again, thanks so much for your kindness and grace. We, as Rush fans, are more of a kinship than mere single people. We love and enjoy the music of a group of three, built on the idea that music can be, and remain, an art form.

Neil Peart was no doubt a great musician. He was technically gifted, had a tremendous interest in other musical sounds and traditions, and composed great drum and percussion parts that complimented the music of Rush and the individual performances of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. But even he would admit that he was not the greatest drummer ever. HOWEVER, what a tremendous, empathetic, intelligent, contemplative, profound, generous person he was. His words, poetry, philosophy and books remain with us as a reminder that he wasn't just a musician. It is fitting he is being remembered for his prodigious humanity, and not just his prodigious talent.

"... what we are here for" he gave his best, knowing it can't fit to everybody, reached out to who looks closer into his arts as a benevolent human.

He helped me through my teenage years with his lyrics, subdivisions, closer to the heart, etc. But those are just the obvious ones. All his writing was helpful.
And he's still teaching us as we're reminded by his writing as we live.

If I had to pick just one song that not onlynsaved and inspired but became a theme for life and got me writing too, a song that never gets old for me, it's _The Enemy Within_
      ...
To you is it movement or is it action?
Is it contact or just reaction?
And you, revolution or just resistance?
_Is it living, or just existence?_
Yeah you, it takes a little more persistence
To get up and go the distance

Mr Peart had more influence on my maturation from adolescent to adult than any other human being on the planet. He instilled in me the rock-solid foundation of having a good character and a strong moral and personal conviction. “Cinderella man” and “A farewell to Kings,” and “Entre Nous” moved me in ways that I cannot explain. I am proud to be the person I am today, and I can attribute much if that to Neil’s positive outlook and messaging. I am not a drummer, but I picked up the bass guitar because if he and Glee's synchronicity. Neil’s vision of the musicality of the drums changed drumming forever, because he was so much more than just a metronome. He wasn’t ‘flashy’ just to be flashy, everything he did fit so perfectly into the feel and emotion for that moment. It’s so hard to explain- I can only try to verbalize this overwhelming emotion whenever I hear him play. I just want to say - “thank you Neil Peart. You made an enormous contribution to my growth as a person and as a man. I wish there was a way to convey my gratitude for your vision. All I can do is live my life to the best of my ability, while remembering that you helped to lay the foundation for my growth as a grateful and productive adult.”

his made me SAD but I want to thank you for the compilations. I really enjoyed his drumming.. such perfection when you really listen to EXACTLY what he was doing. my talent was in his left foot when related to drums and he was so humble about it.

Life long Rush fan... sound track of my life, yada yada, but I will say this.... Snakes and Arrows came out while I was at the pointy end of an absolutely brutal divorce/custody battle and that album and the words of Neil literally saved my life on countless occasions, bringing me OFF the ledge. RIP brother Neil. Awesome tribute to an amazing human.

    Great Job.
What's crazy to think about, is that even if Neil was the greatest percussive composer ever (which I believe to be the case), that was only his 2nd greatest strength.
He is simply the greatest lyricist ever seen in popular music.

The world of music and all people on this earth lost a great great individual but his passing 2 yrs ago though it may still be a wee bit raw made us listen closer ever so closer to his writings , playing and style. Love you Neil ...God bless your family 🙏❤😉

It's a bit of a downer, but really, to be expected - Rush has always been a niche band that never got anywhere near the acclaim they deserved. Those of us who know, know well. Those who don't - well their loss...
