I know I'm years late, but I used to work overnights at McDonald's. They can only take cash because once a day you have to cycle the registers and the computer to start the new day. Normally takes around 20 minutes. During this time, the cash registers aren't useable, since they have to be off/restarting. So things like receipts, taking credit/debit, and your order showing up on the screen don't happen. Service will normally be slower too, since they have to manually calculate prices and tax.
Great video, definitely a great inspiration! Also, just curious, did they give you a receipt at that McDonald's? They were definitely just not ringing up orders and keeping the cash.
You should review the earin Bluetooth wireless earbuds. They seem really cool cause there's absolutely no wires at all! And the Fugoo tough Bluetooth speaker, which has 40+ hours of battery life. It's also weather proof, snow, rain, dust, and mud proof. That's crazy!!!

McDonalds has to do a system up every morning. Which means the card machines are down. This is standard and normal, nothing shady is going on. The Mcds in my are do the system updates around 3am.
Not related to the main part of the video but the reason that happens when you go to mcdonalds that late at night is because they have to restart all the computer systems to get updates...its like ending a business day at any other store but they dont ever actually close
