Great video :) We did the exact same route a few weeks back (including the refreshment stop), but we started and finished in Santa Paula. The gentle cruise down to Ventura at 8am in the morning was a perfect way to start a ride. It is a great route.
Great video. This is a great ride during cool weather (generally November through April). Much of the climb is on a south-facing slope and temps can be quite a bit hotter than in coastal Ventura. Beware and bring plenty of water. We generally loop through Ojai (rather than Santa Paula) to return to Ventura. This shortens the ride a bit (I think to a total of ~35 miles). Either way, there are good food stops in Ojai and Santa Paula.
Cool video! Nice to see one in my backyard! SMR is my local favorite n keep coming back n you WILL see cows 🐄😏! I've seen them a bunch times. I usually just do the 9 mile climb n bomb it back down but I'll check out the loop
Last year I saw the aftermath of three cyclists bomb down the pavement and right into a county truck. The cops determined that they were racing each other and not looking for oncoming traffic.... Ride safe and watch out for traffic.
Great vid again, def one of my top 5 youtubers.
Thanks. Definitely glad to bring the love of gravel into all this.
My number one!!
Thanks for the video guys. Went and did it yesterday. You were right . Also the downhill is now fresh new tarmac for anyone watching in 2022
Good to know. That might be too much speed!
I just rode the Ojai bike trail last weekend with my son and nephew, it was amazing . Thanks for the video be safe 👍
That's one of the better "starter" rides we have around Southern California.

I like taking the train up and being able to consume some beverages before hopping back on. Great little excursion in a short amount of time.
Another great video, thanks. The fires have thrown a big wrench in my gravel plans, and I'm going to have to add this to my list. Thanks.
Glass half full: even with all the turmoil, we still have great places to ride.

Wow looks like an awesome ride!
I'd rate it as very good. At the end of the year, I'll rate all of this year's rides!

I've done it about four times and no bovines yet!
The route/website isn't loading! :( Love the video. Keep up the good work! I'm banking all these routes!!
The website seems to be down right now, but I also have the route in the description.
I’ve watched many of your vids and it just now occurred to me I don’t even know your riding buddies.
Neither do I. What's the proper way to handle stalkers?
The college is Thomas Aquinas college . Not correct pronunciation in video .
As of this date April 2024 the road to Santa Paula is closed due to a mud slide after the college .
I always encourage people to check current conditions as they're never in real time...
It’s open now 8/2024
the only reason to ride up sulphur is turn around and ride down sulphur.
I've actually never gone down the dirt part. I'll leave that to Safa Brian.
