      @@julietaangel5546 the eye had tape on it and it plus the selling kept it from being open all the way, and it felt really weird when I looked either straight ahead or up(so I when looking at something I had to aim my head higher than the target so my eyes would be lower). It wasn't all that painful, the most pain was an occasional dull-ish ache that an ice pack and/or some Tylenol would fix. I had to sleep with my head propped up to reduce swelling. After a few weeks the tape and stitches were removed and it remained slightly swollen for a little longer, but it healed up and there is no scar.

    Hey! I had this surgery when I was 3 years old to fix my eyelid that didn't work because of a muscle I was born without. I now have very different eyelids (trying to put on eyeliner is the worst) but I can see fully out of my right eye and the unevenness of my eyes is a bit less noticeable. Please try to remember that this is not just a cosmetic procedure and some people had to undergo it due to serious medical conditions :)

    One time we tried plucking out the ones that were poking his eyes but it didn't work, they grew back so fast. He insists he's okay and that he doesn't wanna do it because most to everyone he's seen around him who's gotten double eyelids like this couldn't get both sides perfectly done. When I was 6 years old I had to go to the hospital because of a burn and apparently the doctor actually suggested that I get this surgery for practical reasons, not cosmetic ones. But I couldn’t because it was literally the day before my family moved to a different country. Which is really unfortunate because all my life I’ve actually had problems bc of my eyes, both in appearance and functionality. I’d often get teased bc of my appearance and “small eyes” and also, bc of my eyelids pushing down on my lashes I get always lashes inside my eyes.

    I had the surgery as my peripheral vision was over 70% blocked when driving because of my eyelids sagging down in the corner of my eyes. I didn’t think it was an issue until I went to the ophthalmologist and he gave me a test which measures the degree of blockage of your peripheral vision. He said anything over 50% was considered unsafe for driving and because of that insurance helped pay for it because it was not considered cosmetic.

    If you are considering this surgery be sure to research the botched surgery websites. For upper eyelids you could have your lids stitched so tight that you can't close your eyelids even to sleep. Your eyes are permanently opened or you'll have that 'deer in the headlights' look all of the time. Do your research to know what to expect and be sure the doctor is board certified.

      May I ask why people think monolids are beautiful? I grew up with nearly everyone around me has monolids. We think monolids make eyes look smaller and make people look like they haven't have enough sleep, while double eye make eyes look bigger and more "woke up". So I am really curious.

    this surgery is common in kpop industry, mostly to girl groups members. you will notice the difference of their eyes (their eyes will get bigger and become double eyelids) before and after.
    another alternative for this is those tiny plastics that are put in your eyelids and it will create double eyelids effects. i saw them on online shops

    German heritage here ✌🏻all my family members have downturned eyes with excess skin. Everyone gets this surgery in my family around age 40-60 because gravity is a bitch and makes the eyelids heavy. Partially cosmetic, mostly for vision. Also I'm 21 and my eyelids get so oily! (Ew I know) because of the folds I have. It's very frustrating and any eyeshadow I want to try just doesn't looks good. I can't use Monolid techniques or non monolid techniques because I'm in between. Plus every damn photo where I'm smiling I look like my eyes are shut. I'd love to get this surgery.

It had great results for her health and appearance too. Now, there's other people who don't need this and do it anyway, and they end up looking like if they were sick because too much fat and skin is removed and their eyes get sunk in the bone orbits. For my genetic origins (Scandinavian) a monolid is a rare and really beautiful trait. Kind of pixie-ish, like Bjork. Just keep this in mind if you want to get this done for cosmetic reasons. Grass is always greener on the other side. I've always thought this look was more beautiful and youthful seeming than a deep crease. I learned from a kdrama that this is a fairly common wish for Asian people? Maybe not the best source. But I really don't understand why that would be. I think it's just that what is rare is considered desirable, so a double lid might seem cuter in Asian populations, since its rarer in that group.

    just a reminder to the people in the comments, some east asains have really thick monolid/eyelid skin which can restrict their eyesight. some need to get this surgery for practical reasons.

    So us people who have double eyelids are actually having excess fat there? And considered a beauty standard in certain countries? hmmm
    Everyone is beautiful, break the beauty standard.

      Not really but some do get them fixed because some people have excess fat only on one eye and looks different. So some do choose to have them fixed to make them at least even.

    it's not gonna go as smooth as this video people ... think about the scar which wont go away, and some people might not be able to close their eyes. Do your own research and try to research in Asian languages.

    • @lacytheespeon517
      @lacytheespeon517 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no scar if you have a good doctor you know.. and there's no way you'd be unable to close your eyes unless they removed some tendon. This surgery isn't only for cosmetic reasons some people have actual problems with their eyelids
