Harley Davidson will not cover damage caused by aftermarket accessories or parts. Why should they? Their warranty also specifically states that it will not cover damage caused by racing, off-road use, or lack of maintenance.

All manufacturers have a similar clause concerning after market/3rd parts parts being covered under warranty or possibly voiding their warranty. That has nothing to do with "right to repair." Regardless, HD has bigger issues right now.
They took care of me w/o hassle and went beyond the requirements. I suppose if someone dicks around with their bike and expects HD to fix it, that owner will cry about it
Harley hasn’t had a biker President, CEO, Chairman or Board Of Directors in 20 years and Willie G is in his 80s & hasn’t really been involved with the company for 10+ years. It’s kinda like Ford…
The bell at the Harley Dealers is not ringing as much as it did 6 years ago. There are very few parties at the dealers and the ones that are going on, nothing special about them. They use to have a huge party when the new models came out,now they just push them out on the floor. I stopped buying branded Harley’s stuff 5 years ago. Getting way better deals from the tactical gear stores on line.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says you can use what you want and do the work yourself or have someone else do it unless the company supplies the parts for free. Harley parts are chinese and mexico junk.
Harley is doomed unless they replace the CEO and the board of directors with people that love the United States 🇺🇸 of America, and Motorcycling of course.
While in the USA owners of vehicles the owner works on, if done propely, should not void the warranty. But they dam sure don't have to warranty a parts failure on HD parts. I was standing in line at the Ford truck dealership in Seattle waiting for the parts department. A customer had fought a well thrashed old Ford flatbed truck. I needed a new clutch. But, the customer provided an aftermarket clutch and related parts. The shop tore down and replaced the clutch. Put back togeter, it was found the customer provided clutch was defective. The customer howled wen he was told that, no, they would not reform the job for free. And, no, he could not take the truck elsewhere, unless he paid for the labor the shop had in it. Customer was pissed, but you can't expect he dealer to warranty parts or labor on aftermarket parts you buy and use.
An army of lawyers can’t make you buy a Harley though….HD have their heads so far up their own self important asses, they can’t see why there going to be struggling in the near future. Remember how Brit bikes died from arrogant decisions from the bosses..

If I buy a Harley and install my own aftermarket cams, sure - void my warranty. But if my engine grenades, and my warranty is voided because I installed after-market mirrors..... Maybe in that extreme, I'd still be good. What's the gray area here?

If what you want makes sense why did you not just buy an aftermarket bike then ask HD to put a warranty on it. It sounds like you bought an expensive bike but can’t really afford to run it so turning the blame on the manufacturer. Just saying
People expect some value for their money. The Stage Kits HD offer are over-priced and aftermarket parts often have better quality and cost much less. It would make sense if HD didn't void their rider's warranty out of pettiness; but they do. It would also make sense to sell a machine that wasn't a disappointment off the floor, requiring upgrade kits, especially at the "premium" prices they charge, but like you're saying, that would make sense. It seems people buy HD for emotional reasons (image, style, sound) and take a hit on performance, reliability and value for their hard earned dollar. They get more upset about Harley's wokeness than they do about getting suckered it seems. Edit: spelling

Youguys keep using the word woke wrong. However, it really doesn't matter and ultimately Harley has been going down for over 2 decades. Anyone that isn't a Harley victim has read the writing on the wall a long time ago. Overpriced, unreliable and a horrible dealer network. If they can't fix those issues, it really doesn't matter about their social policies or where they are manufactured. Without new customers, they won't survive. And they seem to be more interested in alienating their shrinking ( let's be honest, dieing) customer base. Don't let companies put you off because they support a pride event, scream about the problems with the product and service. That affects you more. Yesterday is gone, you can't live there. Harley needs to learn this. A new CEO or board isn't enough to change it. The culture has to change and that starts with the people who choose to lay their money down. Demand a better product and a better price. There are other options out there, don't buy their history, buy their future. Invest in a bike you want, pay a reasonable price and set the expectations of future services, including price and dealer attitudes. This goes for any brand. I would like to point out that in Vancouver, a well-known 1% club was and has been a great supporter to the LGBT community, long before it was legal to be gay. They acted as security for our unsanctioned events. We will never forget their support. We drank at bars they owned and we always felt welcome. We bought lots of things from them. They are heros to us. A bit of history that probably repeated itself in other cities around North America. When I was too young to be in bar or nightclub, I could always find an after hours or as we called them back then, a booze can. Who do think ran them and who do you think their customers were. The point is, Harley has in one way or another, been a part of the LGBT community.
