I just ordered this as a personal machine and it comes in the mail today. It is such a little thing but I’m so glad it charges from both sides because I move around a lot and it seems like it with be convenient to have the wire on the same side as the plug. My 80+ year old mom has had the old HP 14 you have and it has been perfect for her for years now. Highly recommend these devices, especially for seniors and I was a person that was pretty negative about them at first. I’m a developer with a MacBook but I like having a nice light matching like this browsing and entertainment.

The only slightly negative thing that is not specific to this machine but to ChromeOS is that as these devices become more powerful in terms of features, they feels like they are taking the slightest bit of a performance hit. It is not a big deal yet but Google needs to keep an eye on these lower end processors as they continue to add more features. My mom's Chromebook with a celeron processor used to blow my mind in terms of how fast it felt, even compared to much higher end machines. Now the performance feels somewhat more on par with them, which is still pretty impressive considering the cost of the hardware. I'm not saying it is even the slightest bit laggy. For web browsing, it still feels as fast as my MacBook. Just in the old days, it would have felt faster. Some of that could also be the nature of the web as developers try to pack more and more content and javascript onto their sites. Only other slight problem is my non-techy wife is constantly trying to steal it to take to work. She is completely enamored with how simple it is to operate and she loves the white color. I might give it to her and get an Asus Flip or something similar since I use it for the things I normally use my iPad.
Yeah it's a great device for what it is. In a perfect world I would like it to be a bit more powerful but I knew going into it that it wasn't going to be a high performance device. Thanks for the reply. :)
I really like my chromebook JustU.Faith/HP14Cbook it's been a trooper through lots of web surfing and even a drop to the floor or two. The fan sounds a little funny these days but it runs great and was a steal so I can't complain
I just got my HP Chromebook 14" Intel celeron CA060NR in the mail today! I'm in love with it so far! I don't know why some people don't like chrome OS i think it's so nice honestly. It's such a good price for a good quality laptop. But the only thing i can't figure out is how to download things in the play store. For some reason it says it can't open in chrome OS :( If someone knows what to do please help!!! I'd really appreciate it greatly!!!
Would this be ideal for college? I’ve been looking a lot into it and i am loving the 4GB RAM. Also will it be able to hold the Office 365 subscription (word, pp, excel, outlook, etc) ?
USB C to HDMI adapters do exist but I haven't tried it on this machine. I know that the OS is capable of using the adapter but I don't know if there are any hardware limitations on this machine. It would be interesting to try out though.
Well thanks for watching Bob. Chromebooks to me have always been a great value. Sure there are some more expensive models out there but I really enjoy a diamond in the rough. This model is just what I want out of a Chromebook. With the addition of Android apps, it opens up a new world. I actually ran Windows 3.1 on it after installing DOSBox. It was clunky but an interesting tinkering experience. :D
Android apps on compatible Chromebooks open up some interesting possibilities. It's fun to try them out. I also tried an Amiga emulator on it and played some Amiga games from my youth. It too was a bit clunky but fun.
Update turns out my screen had cracked then that’s when this black stuff came through the screen,it was ink and it gave me the chills so if your ever crack DONT LOOK AT THE INK😬 so be careful with this lucky computer you have (you can’t play Fortnite on it☹️)

It has Windows 10 and a touch screen. I haven't used it since the initial set up though. Maybe it is because when I went to the local store to pick it up (it was bought online by my father in another state to be picked up by me here) and took it home I soon realized it was defective and seemed to have been set up before. I took it back to exchange it for another one the same day but they didn't have another one so I had to wait about a week. Got the new one and set it up just fine. Did updates etc. then used it for about an hour. I don't like the touch screen or Windows 10. I keep feeling a little guilty for not using it but might start using it soon. I did disable the touch screen and added a mouse so that is fine. I can't really change it having W10 though but maybe I could learn to live with it if I actually use it,. :P Nice to see you again. - Heidi

They are still going strong but with the weather getting colder now, they seem to be sleeping more, just like me. Windows 10 is a pretty good operating system once you get used to it. What OS do you use primarily?

My dog is getting older - and according to her breed life expectancy - way too close to the end of her life. Sometimes she takes longer to wake up and I freak out thinking she passed. I am hoping for a couple more years since I know she can't live forever like I would prefer. I am in love with W7 and use that. Got in on my custom built desktop. Planning to build another soon as this one is going on 10 years old and acting a bit senile at times. :P Going to use W7 on the new build as well. :D

I disagree a little bit on the "Do not go below 4gb of ram" part. I currently use a acer chromebook with 2gb and it works just fine after three years on simple browsing. Other than that great video.
I personally feel that 4GB is as low as I'd go for Chromebook RAM, however to each his/her own and I can appreciate that not everyone feels that way. Thanks for the feedback :)

You may be able to hook up the Chromebook to an external display with the USB-C connector. (USB-C to HDMI). It won't be mobile anymore because you'll need the monitor to see what's going on. I can't guarantee it will work because I haven't tried it myself but it's worth a shot. :)
