      @@anna_m59 Influencers just show the typical tourist spots and usually put things in an unrealistic perspective. This kind of content from a local is much more valuable to discover the 'real' Italy. Sure, they can give some good advice for traveling as a tourist, but you get the best insight from the actual locals. Often the tourist destinations and parts of town are not where the actual Italians live and spend their time. If you want to really discover the culture, you need to go beyond a tour of the highlights and historical sites. The overwhelming majority of influencers don't really have any knowledge of the places they travel. It's just about money.

      Lee Moraglio, like this young lady and her dad, me and my daughter have traveled Italy extensively! Even though I too am of Calabrese descent, born in Liguria, I can tell you that if you are looking at food, quality of life and amazing culture and music, Puglia is the best place to be! for you, if you still have family there, it will be easy to settle in!

    • @LeeMoraglio
      @LeeMoraglio ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gdionwood, thank you for your feedback and recommendation. Bari has a lot to offer in terms of weather, food, friendly people, scenic views of the Adriatic, and a lower cost of living. Lots of reasons to move there in addition to meeting my distant relatives. However, my biggest pause about Puglia pertains to its location on the boot vis-a-vis other towns and cities. I am someone who wants to spend a lot of time traveling around and exploring Italy by train. If my home base is there, won't it take me significantly longer to travel to all of the places i'd like to see if I'm living on the east coast rather than the west coast? It seems like Bari is just far enough away that trying to do a day trip to most of the towns and cities on the west coast would be challenging. Everyone has different goals, priorities, and things they'd like to do. For me, travel and sightseeing will be important, but I do want to have a home to return to in the evening. Thanks again!

    I was searching for vlogs for small Italian town life by local people, I am happy that TH-cam has suggested me this channel. Very beautiful place. It is even more better because of someone local making it. Keep making such wonderful vlogs about the real Italy we want to see far from big cities.

    Very reminiscent of my childhood summers spent in a small village in Greece with my grandfather. I've been fortunate to visit Sicily twice...what an amazing place! Taormina was impressive but equally enjoyed time with Sicilian friends in a nearby small village on the northern coast. As a southerner from the US, I can appreciate your father's dialect as it is as culturally important as the art & food of that region. I love Italy & hope to make it back there sometime soon!

    Keep vloging! Brought back memories (2019): the ferry ride to Messina. (Thanks for the info about Crusades), the right turn off the E45 to Toarmina, the view of Etna, Piazza IX Aprile Taormina, the narrow walkways, Villa communal di Taormina, fantastic Ristorante Al Giardino and cable car to beach. My wife’s grandparents are from Vallefiorita, and Montepaone Province of Catanzaro. Keep making videos, you are good.👏🏻

    I loved this video! You just got recommended to me because this is the type of videos that I normally watch. I only have one suggestion, I would love to see more videos but speaking in Italian, I feel that the experience is much more immersive that way. It is true that probably most of your watchers are foreigners but nothing like a local speaking their native language which is already very beautiful ❤

    To be honest, where I live in the UK everyone greets everyone else, those who live here and those who are just visiting. Anyone will help you whether they know you or not. It is outstandingly beautiful and green. The local food is fabulous. The weather in southern Italy is hotter but here we embrace the seasons and all the unpredictability of them.
    I’ve been to Italy a few times and I love it BTW! and do go to Sicily if you possibly can.
