  • Tom Brady leaves behind an incredible legacy, retiring with more Super Bowl wins than any other entire NFL franchise. In five of those games, he was named Super Bowl MVP to go along with three regular season MVPs, and making two separate all-decade teams. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss how difficult it'll be for any of today's quarterbacks to come close to what Brady achieved.

Skip Just will continue to talk till he's blue in the face ... and be dilusional on this issue:
      - The reality is Mahomes has done things the past 4 or 5 years for MULTIPLE years that Brady did not even do ONCE in his 1st 5 seasons.
      1. Mahomes just had an "off year" with 37 TDs. Not once did Brady have a 30 TD season his first 5 years.
      2. Mahomes had a 50 TD season his MVP year a few seasons ago
      3. Mahomes has had more than three 30 TD seasons already...
      - You give guys like Mahomes, Russ Wilson, DeShaun Watson (assuming he comes back and has another 15 years or more in his career)..... and with the rules of today, they will break Brady's, Brees', Peyton's Records in 15 or more years.
      Thats' just the honest truth...
You give Mahomes a coach / GM like Belichick..... they will tally up Super Bowls that will make Brady worshippers go silent or even cry.
Again Look at Mahomes as an example. And what Pat & Josh Allen just did in the playuffs a few weeks ago....
Brady is a great winner..... he wasn't even the best QB to ever play football.
All this "Greatest Athlete in any sport " talk is just journalists going nuts/ creating clickbait on a slow winter news day.

Give me the guy who punches you straight in the mouth instead of the guy who does all the fancy karate moves just to throw 1 strike. More importantly brady after 3 superbowls was every teams boss fight. He became the shao kahn of the nfl. This means he was getting everyone's best. Whether if it was bad team or good team. This also means he was getting the best from the legendary ravens defense, steelers all the way to the dolphins and Broncos. Oh by the way brady did play in that era of ground and pound and physical defenses. So dont show me stats about mahomes doing anything in a pass happy league with now 17 games in a season with better weapons. Brady put up numbers at 44 in this same pass happy era . He was dominant before this and when he got weapons with randy moss he lit up the league. It wasn't until the year after he got hit they changed the rules. Stats dont tell the whole story. Oh by the way, mahomes had help from a fan 3 years ago when they pointed a laser into bradys eyes in the playoffs and the chiefs still lost lmao.

The question mark with all these young QBs is how they do with the second iteration of their team i.e when they lose their current stars and have to compete with guys who weren’t picked at the top of each round of the draft. very, very true. brees, eli, rodgers, wilson, ben. all won rings for sure but only 1 or 2 and none late in their career. I think lots of these qbs will do the same though. burrow might win one ring now, mahomes already has one, and allen/herbert/jackson all could possibly win a ring as well. its just not clear who will win another later in their career, although burrow or mahomes are the most likely answer (AS OF NOW) considering they are the only ones to actually make it to a super bowl. allen I can see making it soon though. herbert and lamar need new OC’s that don’t hold them back as well as good defenses, and they too could probably make it.

The perfect storm narrative is BS. At the time Brady took over, the team started 0-2 and was 5-11 the season before. BB was about to be fired. The reason they lasted 20 years was because they kept winning once Brady started. How many QBs would be able to deal with BB coaching style for twenty years? Compare that to Rodgers inheriting a 13-3 team and Mahomes a team that went to the playoffs the previous years. BB did not have the reputation that he has now when Brady first started. McCarthy and Reid had much better resumes and reputations than BB when Rodgers and Mahomes first took over for their teams. This narrative the Brady was put in an ideal situation is not true. Brady at the end of career had to duel against Mahomes in his prime, if Brady had lost their two playoff matchups (AFC Championship, and SuperBowl), they would be 5 - 3 in superbowl rings which would give Mahomes a chance to tie and exceed him. Yes, it's a team game, but still quite an accomplishment for Brady to defeat his last great rival.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see his records broken. With an extra game, a pass-friendly rulebook, and these young guys taking more risks downfield against handicapped defenses, we've already seen guys like Mahomes, Dak, and Herbert throw for over 5k yards. With rules designed to protect QBs, the likelihood of these guys all having long careers is increased, giving them more opportunity to rack up stats. It makes a lot of sense that the great ones like Mahomes could and may very well surpass Brady's passing stats at some point.
Now passing Brady on this rings is another story... I don't expect that one to be broken for a very long time or ever unless the parity rules are completely thrown out...

Even if Mahomes went on to win this year he's still very far off when you consider his style of play. He's not going to be able to play QB the way he does currently when he's 30+ years of age with a decade of taking hits in the NFL. He'll slow down like every does and then he'll have to make better reads and play better within the pocket. Not only would he have to have the longevity to chase down those titles but he'd also have to drastically change the way he plays QB. He makes up for a lot with physical gifts that he's not always going to have as he ages.

    • @timocruz510
      @timocruz510 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

lol Rodgers doing similar stuff at 38. Mahomes has a lot to learn, but Brady didn't win an MVP or throw 30 plus TDs or have a 93+ rated season until 30 years old. Mahomes turns 27 in September lol.
Also spare me the weapons argument, because in 5 games w/o Tyreek in 2019, Mahomes had one of the best 4-5 game stretch in his entire career.

Tom had a perfect storm and everything was in unison. A big part of that is because he accepted paycuts like no other QB and was getting paid less than middle of the pack QBs so that the team can have better players. No other QB is showing any willingness to walk that path.

The fact that he can elevate his game further in the playoffs against the best teams the NFL had to offer, depsite having a bad division meaning not much practice, and having winning records on almost all 31 other NFL franchises, is proof enough that he is the perfect storm for the Pats and the NFL.
