These are revenue generating systems for municipalities. In our city it was considered a civil offense. Lack of anyone paying them caused the systems to be pulled from our city. Our law stated that a police officer must witness the violation, not an automated system.
I got one of these notices from a camera "hidden" in a fake cactus in AZ. I actually saw it when I was speeding past it. Fine print on notice said that fine was a suggestion. I liked the photo of me driving, so I cut it out and framed it.
In some cases it is not an official government agency that is sending you the notice. It's a private company that contacts with the municipalities and have no authority to force you to pay. So they use intimidation to scare you into paying.
One time I had to run out to my uncles house and back on a quick trip that was all freeway. A month later I got EIGHT photo radar enforcement tickets from that one trip. They were hilarious.... I threw them out 😂
What if the person who owned the car died and was not driving the car? She received a notice but she died so not sure how this fits!!! Thanks. Love your work....
In Pennsylvania they have what is called "preponderance of evidence", a picture is proof of guilt. End of story. Usually the picture is cropped, or detracted, in that there is no time stamp, or camera or location number superimposed on the picture. That might be ok if we lived in a utopia, when everything is perfect, and no mistakes are made. The notice, or rather the attached appeal form sent in the mail is a snare, a trap. Why? An account number is listed. Who authorized an account in your name? If you respond you activate the account by retroactive consent, and then the notice becomes a binding contract. Guilt cannot be disputed, and you cannot dispute if the camera was defective or human error. Never use their paperwork. Retain your personal venue or jurisdiction by using your own stationary, and ask, who authorized an account in my name?
What you do is, when you get one of those tickets you take what ever the fine is and lay the money out on a table and take a picture of it and send it back to them.
3 years ago I got 2 photo radar tickets in the mail. I did not respond. They sent me a notice left on my door serving me in person. I did not respond. They, then, suspended my drivers license. I responded and went to traffic school and only got 1 of them dismissed. I'm in AZ by the way. WTF was I to do? This was in North Scottsdale if that matters.
A few cities around my area had those but not for long as to many people didn't comply since no officer gave them the ticket in person this is a great way to find out how many uninformed/stupid people are in a certain area
yep. just a way to grab some extra cash from stupid people. I'm glad they took all that crap away in Tucson. You use to see the camera's flash like crazy on some intersections before they removed them. If you try to make a left at an intersection and the turn signal is one of those that almost instantly turns yellow then red. If your car wasn't out of the junction before that arrow turned red, regardless of how far you had traveled through already. Your butt would receive the epilepsy treatment from those cameras. I've gotten over a dozen in the past, never paid a dime.
So I got flashed while working in McQueen and Queen creek was making a left turn but the light turns green red yellow real quick then yellow again I was in a company truck just got my cdl so I’m scared but the light with out a camera down the street doesn’t do that almost all of them except the one with the camera any tips because I can’t afford to lose my job I’m the only one working right now
I received a photo radar bs. I ignored it. I checked year later and says it got dismissed. I looked into it. From the time of violation, the photo people have to file that ticket to the court to get an approval to fine you. Once they get an approval, they have 90 days to serve you the ticket. If they cant serve it to you within 90 days, ticket is dismissed. However, if you live in Scottsdale or Arizona in general, they can nail and mail on your door and you have been served. Fortunately, I live in California, so they didnt even bother serving it to me. But i heard they even hire process servers to serve you the ticket and they usually do this if the state you're in allows process servers to serve you the ticket easily. California however, has many restrictions on serving papers and they cant nail and mail unless its for 3 reasons. 1. Eviction notice where landlords can serve you eviction notice on your door. 2. Divorce cases where they have child custody issues and 3. City is doing construction or fixing public property such as repaving the streets, etc where they have to block out the street where they need approval from court to notify everyone in that vicinity with nail and mail. California doesnt allow nail and mail for petty traffic tickets and photo radar is illegal in California. But states where photo radar is legal and they work closely with Arizona, you can get nail and mailed. Great video and i hope more people see this to learn.

@@xman4328 yes, I live in California. I got a ticket from Scottsdale, Arizona. But its a useless ticket since they werent able to serve me the ticket. They have 90 days to prove to the court that I received a ticket. Normally they hire process servers to serve the tickets if they get no response. Depending on the state, they will or not hire process servers. My state California, is pain in the ass for Scottsdale Police Department to hire process server to serve me the ticket, hence why they dont bother with it. In Arizona, they can nail and mail the ticket on your door. However in California, they cannot nail and mail traffic ticket on your door unless its for 3 reasons I mentioned. What about Paradise Valley? Because this seems not to be the case for this city. I've had my license suspended for not responding and they've never served me.
They would have to get a process server in Washington and I highly doubt they will spend the money to do that. The whole point in sending the initial notice by mail is so they can get as many people to pay so that they don't have to pay the money to serve people The cost to serve a person out-of-state is not going to be worth it to them.
No you didn't. It was a friend of yours who looked like you and you loaned the car to them. But you are no longer friends and have PSTD and can no longer remember that friends name. Shucks! ;)
Years ago when living in the valley. I think it was about 2015 I got a notice in the mail. I just ignored it and made sure to not answer the door, just in case getting served weeks after the event. All good. Sorry, when driving around I knew if a cop wasn't present I could go over the speed limit. It was kind of crazy back then, understand it hasn't got any better.
I have so many photos of my car from secretive police parking up their camera vehicles in all sorts of places. The worst was at the bottom of a hill. We got no option. You get the photo fine and demerit points all in one hit plus the pay by date or you go to court to challenge and who has got that kind of money. Besides it was always me. I did wrong.
She does't mention that if it says "Arizona Traffic Ticket and Complaint" you had better pay attention to it. If so this is a real ticket signed by a Judge and has a Court Docket #. Mesa and Scottsdale follow up aggressively. So dont go and toss one of these in the trash, iether pay it, get a lawyer or contest it yourself.
This also applies to jury duty. Jury summons is not valid until they personally serve it to you. You can rip it up and throw it away also. In order to prosecute you, they need a proof that you received it. Sending you summons by USPS first class mail is not a proof, not to mention there is no tracking number to even prove that they even sent it. Lmfao.
What about the right to travel? You are a officer of the court and you have a responsibility to protect the Constitution. Look up Carl Miller right to work
I believe this is bad information. This will cause you to be served, which incurs additional fees. Failure to respond will result in license suspension. While they used to be able to be ignored I think the law changes in 2022 made them enforceable without an officer present. Prove me wrong
