I have the same issue with my 58 year old Caloric Ultramatic oven. Did you figure out what the problem is ? Is it the thermocouple or is it the valve. Can it be refurbished or did you have to replace either of those parts of did you just replace the oven ?
My oven doesn't have a thermocouple. It's a safety valve. It could not be repaired, so I had to purchase a whole unit. If I remember correctly, it was a new/old stock part and set me back $175.
@@ATonkaTruck What is the wire that is getting red hot ? Flame sensor ? My oven also has the same SV. I thought that the larger pilot induces micro-voltage in that wire(flame sensor or thermocouple)that then allows the safety valve to open the circuit to the burner so that it will then ignite.
