    I forgot to mention in the video the HHG Bell Bronze Snare is 14" x 5.5" and overhead microphones are a pair of AudioTechnica AT-3035s.

    Outstanding!!! Awesome looking kit! Loved the set up and your mix. All sound great but that snare is just Next Level!!! The sound of it is tremendous. Thanks for sharing.

    Hey Nick, I love your whole setup. Sonor SQ2s are my dream kit. What model is the drum rack and how was mounting all of the drums to it? I am looking at buying SQ2s eventually and am curious how rack mounting the toms works. Greetings from Canada!

      Thank you! I kept the same gibraltar rack I had before with my Tama Starclassic Maple. I think the Tama tom holders were much better.
      Sonor uses hex L-Rods instead of round ones so there are some annoying limitations right there. I had to purchase Sonor made tom holders because of that. Also, these L-rods go into the ball clamp and they are short, so you don't have too much room to pull the toms out enough to angle them.
      So you need mount the tom stands from the side of the toms and not from behind them (from the pilot's seat perspective). So I had to adapt myself a bit to the new tom positions due to those limitations, not to mention all the Sonor hardware attached to the drums is unnecessarily very heavy.
      Germans just over-complicate things for no reason, but overall I am very happy with the Sonor sounds.

      Thanks for taking the time to reply Nick! There isn't a lot of info on the internet in terms of how drums are mounted to racks (especially for Sonor) so I really appreciate you sharing that. Thanks! @@MrNickDrummer

    I thought to myself "Damn he got the expensive quick release cymbal nuts" as if i hadn't just seen north of 15 grand in drums and cymbals lol

    Not a huge fan of Sonor, but the finish and wood look amazing. Love all the Paiste cymbals, used to play a few Paiste cymbals for a while. I love when guys know their stuff like you do, great video!

      Thank you! I've played Tama Starclassic Maples for decades, love them. Sonor toms have a different 'round' sound I find intriguing and when well mixed in music they are very unique.

      @@MrNickDrummer Very welcome! Hard to beat some Starclassics. Every shell type I’ve heard in the SQ2 series just didn’t quite do it for me, I’ve heard all of them and they’re just not the sound for me. But I’m sure they record brilliantly.

    Really nice - big drum set. But I'm sorry there is one little problem with it. Needs more Cowbell! lol. Love the sizes in your kit, and how you have it configured. Pretty cool. But honestly the best part of your drum set is "Beeker".

    Are you sure that first one is an 8 and the second one is a 6?
    Love the kit. ❤
    What are your thoughts on your bass kick/hi hat pedals?
    Are they comfortable and reliable?

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are both 8" in diameter. The first is 7" deep and the second is 8" deep. This causes an optical illusion giving the perception the 8x8 is smaller but it's not. Pedals are amazing. It took me awhile to get used to them as they're direct drive - no chain - an they're much faster and more powerful. Thank you!

    Awesome kit. Did I hear correctly that there are two 12x16 toms? One mounted and one on legs?

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, yes one is a hanging tom and the other is a floor tom, both 16x12.

    Any chance to order custom sizes from sonor.? I would really love a six inch tom

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, they don't make 6" toms anymore. That's why I've ordered two 8" with depths of 7" and 8".

    They didn't want to custom build a 6" tom?
    .. I might buy a sq2 but.. I really want that 6" tom!

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't make them anymore, not even for Nicko McBrain who requested it but no game when he was still endorsing Sonor years ago. The 8" works fine, I just tune it higher.

    Wow, that's brutal! The "thin" shells on SQ2 actually don't look so thin as a shells on Tama Starclassic line for example. By the looks of it, I'd bet they're medium 😃 If I didn't have any info.

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I still have my Tama Starclassic made in Japan and they are slightly thinner but not by much. The Sonor hardware attached to their drums is way heavier though. Thanks for the comment 👍

      @@MrNickDrummer Starclassic B/B and W/B made in China have slightly thinner shells than Japan made Starclassics.

    Why do u need 2- 8 inches

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I want two different voices and they don't offer a 6". I actually had three 8" drums when I had my Tama Starclassic Maple. Several covers here with it, so much fun.
