  • Welcome back to Abby Normal Garage! In Part 2 of our restoration series, we dive deep into the ongoing journey of reviving the 1963 International B414 Diesel tractor.
In this episode, we provide an update on the charging system, which the customer opted not to fix, and showcase our innovative adaptation of an incorrect tach cable to ensure seamless functionality. We then move on to replacing the faulty Tach Drive unit on the engine, guaranteeing accurate RPM readings.
But that's not all! We meticulously clean the oil bath air cleaner, reinstall the tachometer, and embark on an exhilarating test drive to put our repairs to the ultimate test.
Along the way, we encounter and conquer various challenges, including addressing a coolant leak using radiator stop leak and expertly welding up the PTO engagement lever for smooth operation.
While some troubleshooting, such as the generator, was conducted off-camera between episodes 1 and 2, rest assured that no aspect of this restoration is overlooked.
Join us as we breathe new life into this vintage beauty, one meticulous repair at a time. Like, share, and subscribe to Abby Normal Garage for more thrilling updates and restoration adventures! 🛠️🚜

Very cool old tractor! I haven’t seen an oil bath air cleaner in I can’t remember how long. I like the cable fix with the super glue too. Pretty neat how you get to work on so many different types of tractors and equipment! 1963 is getting to be a long time ago. Amazing how stuff from back then still runs! Stuff sure isn’t made like it used to be.

I mostly remember oil baths from the old Briggs engines. Can’t say I have a back ground in the old farm tractors but engines are engines. The super glue wasn’t my first option, on the RC boats I think I used a soldering iron without a tip and you shoved the cable with flux/solder and it was like magic. It’s been at least 5 years since my last RC boat build. Maybe when I get the deck in the skiff done I’ll do a lake day! The Neighbor has used it to plow his garden with a 2 bottom plow. I helped him put the tiller back on last week and I saw him Sunday tilling. I’d really like to get the charging system and glow plugs working. My dad was born in 63’. I’d agree about new stuff I have a 2014 huskvarna AWD push mower in the shop with a bad axle bearing and the part comes as an assembly that is discontinued! I think you got me beat on variety you come back with a wide selection of mowers!

@@AbbyNormalGarage 😅 I try and stick with the Briggs flat heads cause the overhead valve Briggs and anything else out there scare me….as in, dollar signs 😄 to fix or get parts for

@@Tennesseemountainhomestead I would agree I love an old Briggs. I had a field day on a 2 piece Flo jet on an 8hp last week. 4 times I had it apart to get it to stop leaking. It’s my second time messing with that style. Don’t be afraid of Kohler K’s the aftermarket is good on them. The Honda GX are probably the best of the modern the GC’s suck with their internal belt driven cam. I love Onan twins with a passion, but they get pricey very quickly.

@@AbbyNormalGarage I have yet to fix a Kohler K…but if and when I do it’ll be the 16 horse in a 216 I picked up in KY last year. It’s a complete unit minus the deck and it’s got gorgeous patina
