Rampal for ever! Music without personality is nothing. Bach could be played on baroque style of course . His imperial personality delivers one of the greatest interpretation of Bach. I had the privilege to see him 4 times in concert. His sound will remain in my memory till the end of my life. One of the encore was an adagio of Haydn violin transcript concerto. It is available on TH-cam. A great man for eternity!

Rampal's interpretation will always bring a tear to my eye. I was fortunate to have seen him in concert before he passed away.

J'ai entendu Rampal faire une remarque a une etudiante ( masterclass) ou il disait de ne pas ajouter ( mes mots) et maintenant ce commentaire ici_ cela me touche profondement car je reconnais en cela l'influence de Rene Leibowitz, dont il etait l'eleve pendant un certain temps- et je sais cela parce que Rene etait mon grand pere ! Il y a quelques annees, j'avais lu une critique de son interpretation des symphonies de Beethoven et cet aspect etait un point central. Maman m'avait dit qu'elle se souvenait de Rampal venant chez eux pour ses lecons, dommage que je ne puisse pas lui poser un tas de questions !!! ( elle est decedee et je n'ai rencontre mon grand-pere qu'une fois ne sachant pas ce soir la ce qu'il faisait ) Assez n'empeche,aujourd'hui, pour me faire sourire lisant ceci !!
It's really good, but it would be much better if it were 20 bpm slower. Obviously, Rampal shows great mastery of flute technique and style, but this is very very fast - Pahud's version is much better imo.
Demasiado rápido, no frasea correctamente. Obviamente que la calidad técnica es excelente pero no para la música barroca. No hay un rubato, un calderón, una mísera pausa. Y bue.

agree that it is too fast -especially the Allemande, not only tempo, but the manner which Rampal played it, -like a "finale movement"-like Presto.
