During the first launch of the Chinese SpaceX Starlink clone "Thousand Sails", it's was uncovered that their Long March 6A rocket that delivered the 18 satellites exploded in low Earth orbit causing a massive debris field that could impact SpaceX Starlink and even the International Space Station. China's global satellite broadband internet service will consist of approximately 27,000 Starlink-like satellites providing communications, navigation, and remote sensing technologies. Both "Thousand Sails" and "SatNet" are said to be operational next year. Q: I would love to hear what you think about this! I'm using starlink and I'm satisfied about it. Just finished upgrading it's signal quality through the help of starlink dealer in our area somewhere in the Philippines.
So what is preventing a hostile foreign power such as China, Russia or N. Korea from purposely launching “satellites” to the upper threshold of LEO and then blowing up the satellites to create a debris field in order to “salt” LEO making it dangerous and unusable? They could do this as either a tactical deterrent or as some form of retaliation. Who knows, this event itself could be just that instead of an unfortunate accident.
With a higher orbit, and partnered with Russia, they could design half of them to explode into shrapnel on command to collide with anything in a lower orbit on the way down.

Space debris is a real problem, China has a crewed station, too. The constellations of satellites are a problem as well. How many more 10,000+ sat constellations does Earth need?
It is amazing that China, a country that serious restricts it's citizens access to the internet would be working on a Starlink clone. Do they expect to sell this service to non Chinese people? What about their government collecting information from their customer's usage?
ChiComs are in the space race to trash it. No country will use the service as the signals have to go into the debris field. JB could use his ability to create a vacuum cleaner to remove all that debris, as Amazon is killing off it's sellers to be like TEMU.
Governments like mine (Zimbabwe) would likely have no issues with a Chinese service. It would probably be preferable to Starlink as it would likely come with china like control and monitoring access they'd never get from starlink. It's a plus for them. I occasionally read articles addressing propellantless propulsion. If they get a handle on that, I expect Musk will be manufacturing satellites to clean up debris fields. And even if they don't figure that out, they will put a starship up there as a docking station to refuel satellites for this task.
How do they expect to launch tens of thousands of satellites within a few years with rockets like their 'Long March' By what order of magnitude would would they need to multiply their launch rate from today's?
I've often though the solution to this is the equivalent of a garbage shuttle. Send up a reusable vehicle and it basically collects the garbage and drops it in low earth orbit to burn up on entry to the atmosphere. Each entity placing objects in orbit pay a fee per object which is used to pay for the program. That has to be somebody with deep pockets to fund the initial work who would love to get rich being the equivalent of a space garbage company.
I’m imagining a garbage truck trying to collect trash while endlessly being shot at from multiple directions. How long will that last? How much space junk will be created as objects strike the garbage shuttle?
I've heard Elon discuss the subject and spacex has a contract to develop a vehicle to de-orbit the space station which is in the realm of space clean up. Unless the Boeing starliner brings it down early that is😮😅
We will need to launch a debris cleaner magnetic net before launching anything important. Space must be managed by the UN, not selfish multipolar states.
What needs to happen is this: SpaceX/Starlink provides the hardware in space they will be the MNO if you will. Then Bozos, Sails, etc will have to be virtual network operator (MVNO) running off of Starlink's infrastructure and bandwidth. Of Curse plans and Starlink will have to prioritized over the others. A good example to relate. Sprint and Boost or not T-mobile and sprint if you will. This s the only was I see this working. 1 Physical network in space!

We will need to launch a debris cleaner magnetic net before launching anything important. Space must be managed by the UN, not selfish multipolar states.
Sanitation Robots.
You've got to be kidding. The UN? I'll just assume you're trolling😅

It’s going to be impossible to put manned space operations with all the crap being put into space.

Wow. This needs to be reported. Horrible when trying to build a channel and even worse when you miss the content that you think you had coming every day. Nuts.
i have and you are not the only channel. nothing changed. i still watch you each time though. i have 2 starlink setups. one at home in the country and one in the mountains at a second home. i am hoping i will be able to do the second one on the family plan to save some bucks. my mountain home is still at the 120 even though it is remote. go figure. thanks for your content.
I can't see any problem for Starlink, Chinese components are not built for quality, they don't last that long?

will be like the rings of Saturn, perhaps, and eventually deorbit.
