I would recommend VENTOY to install any ISO, including MS ones, it allows you permanent Linux on USB (great for use computers outside home).
Try Solaar too for Logitech mouses.
Also try KDE (perhaps in a virtual machine) and Discover to show your audience they can choose.
SUGGESTION; Make one chapter showing the configuration menu (Gnome and KDE ones) with their options. And show the theming and the cubes, in particular dark themes as Vivid-dark-Global-6, as an alternative. And KDE connect (GSconnect in Gnome) for mobile integration.
Ps: Sometimes you need MS WOS, then virtualization, even with GPU passthroug, can help you not to double boot, and the data MS can share is just the bare minimum

Did you know the 555 and even the 560 beta drivers are out? They work even better with Linux. Especially when running Wayland. After Explicit Sync got merged the experience has been amazing with those drivers on Wayland. You can even do cool stuff with PipeWire Audio.

Copilot AI and Recall are spyware in such level that the US government sued Windows for that.
You want to use Zorin OS 17.1 core (Ubuntu based).
It feels like Windows, no problems with installation and it have support for Windows third party software using Wine, Bottles, and Lutris. You will feel like you are on Windows.

    From Denmark,
I myself switched my 5 PC+s from Windows 10 to Linux Mint 21.2 now (21.3) 10 months ago. And I will go to Mint 22 in short time.
And I have not regretted that, My main computer I use is a Ryzen 5800x with an RX 6600 which works 100%.
And Those who only need to use their PC for online banking, mail, printing, surfing the net will never run into problems, that is my experience
    .
I'm so tired of their licenses you have to buy, here in Denmark a license for Windows 11 costs a whopping 100 dollars, and the microsoft account.
And all their nagging that they come up with now.
I enjoy Linux, I find it challenging, and never Windows again.
And I newer come back to Windows again.

I could use Linux for 100%, but there are a few Windows apps that I like to use, but I make sure to cut off ALL Internet access to my Windows virtual machine (for security reasons). I recommend an all AMD solution (CPU & graphics card) to make things easier in Linux. I use VLC for video/audio player, Libre Office, Gimp for bitmap graphics, Inkscape for vector graphics, DOS Box to play old dos games, Virtualbox for Windows, Vidcutter for basic video edits, Audacity for editting audio, LMMS music creator, Kdenlive video editor, Handbrake media converter, etc. Linux isn't perfect (nothing is), but it's AWESOME!

However, a small number are looking beyond MS, although in some cases, as occurs in the medical/pharma field, discussing 'alternative narratives' in this case using open source, they can risk losing their jobs and income from the mainstream office sector. I did not need to build stuff myself that often. Thanks to it also having the newest updates, the performance was much better. I could even play games with decent frame rates, that I could not on Windows or Mint. But I am not trying to make you use an arch based distro. Just mentioning an option. Despite what I heard. In 2015, on July 31, release day for Windows 10, I upgraded my main PC from Windows 7 to 10.
I was, to say the least, aghast at what I saw. I restored my backup of my Win 7 setup (not trusting the Win 10 rollback feature) and figured I would give it some more time to "cook." I remembered how Vista had a rough start, but it ended up being decent after the issues were fixed (not that most people noticed... they'd gone back to XP).
When the November update came out, I thought for sure that MS would have listened to their customers as they had with Vista and fixed it. I tried it out (as an upgrade) on a spare computer that had been set up as Win 7/ Kubuntu Linux dual boot, and none of my main complaints (which were far from being mine alone) had been addressed.
That was when I realized that the issues I had with Windows 10 were not oversights or rough edges... they were key design features. Windows 10 was not meant to serve my interests. It was meant to serve Microsoft's, and even though Windows users were communicating this loud and clear, Microsoft chose not to hear it.
That was when I set up my main PC as a dual boot with Kubuntu. The phase-out of Windows, my operating system of choice since 1990 (3.0), had begun.
One day, some months later, I realized that I had not booted Windows in a long time (over a month). That was when I realized my migration was complete. I still kept Windows 7 around in case I needed it, since I had already paid for it, but it turned out that I didn't need it.

For you, since you have Nvidia, it would be worth checking out Pop!_OS by System76 (a Linux PC and laptop manufacturer). When you click "download," you get the option of the regular ISO or an Nvidia ISO, in which they roll the appropriate drivers for Nvidia GPUs.
Word of caution, though: For the past few years, System76 have been working on their own COSMIC desktop environment, which they have built from scratch in the Rust language, to replace GNOME, since it got to the point where they were fighting the GNOME team's tyranny at every turn. They recently released the alpha version of their new desktop with their latest long-term support (LTS) version of Pop!_OS, 22.04. Because it's an alpha release, it is buggy and missing some features, so it may be best to wait a little while, maybe until it hits beta, unless you're a brave soul qnd wish to help them in their efforts. They just needed to get it released into the hands of the public so it could be stress-tested in the real world and so they could start squashing all the bugs they have missed internally, as well as to hopefully receive more feature requests that might increase COSMIC's quality of life going forward.

I'm 100% on Linux Desktop since 2016. It's been 8 years since that happened. Before I also worked with Unix/Linux. I started my journey in 1999 with Debian Linux. For my programming and OS admin work I no need any advanced tools. Everything was about to find best way how to store your docs, scripts, stuff to get the work done. Till Today I'm using vim, notepadqq as my primary gears. Beside IT job I'm also competent in CAD drawing and 3D modelling. For years I used the VariCAD software on Linux to do this job. When 3D printers appeared Linux was pretty good supported by other software, like UltiMaker Cura 3D. So, now I can create a model in CAD software or in Blender and print using Cura 3D on my 3D printer. In the last years many things has changed dramatically for the better for Linux. I think Linux now is in good path to be a good, lightweight, competitive OS software.

Bravo! Great start sir. I have downloaded the ISO (Fedora Workstation), uploaded it to my favorite VPS provider, and am currently installing the operating system onto a fresh VPS. Doing it this way got me passed the part I was getting stuck on, which was basically being stuck at a command prompt not knowing where to go from there. After uploading the ISO and spawning the VPS, I entered a terminal window, and was given a choice, with actual prompts to follow. That led me to the actual install which is almost done (Hooray for GUI!) List? Not me. Just like the lyrics from Def Leopard, I am a "Touch and see" kind of guy. Makes it easy when you are not using your main machine, and just using a disposable VPS. I will play with it, do it again, and again, and again, until I master it and end up with a final product. To each their own.

Most people are already using Linux (or some derivative) and don't even know it. Pretty much all the cell phones are running Android or iOS, Apple computers too.
Most Windows users can easily switch to Linux as their main application is the web browser anyway. My next phone will be a Linux phone because I don't agree with how the Apple and Google management behave, closing their OS in the name of "security" and then abusing that unilateral control to prevent users from upgrading the OS on a device they paid real money to own, forcing them to buy new hardware to be able to run the current version of apps that won't run on previous OS versions. There is no such issue in Linux, even a very old machine can run the latest OS, aside from some 32/64bit limitations.
The only gripes I have with Linux are the messy directory structure which should have been simplified/cleaned up long ago, and excessive complexity in the boot process, configuration, and applications/drivers handling. On the surface it's fine, but under the hood it still needs a complete overhaul to get rid of all the obsolete remnants of Unix compatibility.

  • @TheHeavenArt

I did the jump to Linux not long ago, I agree with all that you've said, but here's a suggestion, drop Gnome for KDE Plasma.
I was at first also quite captivated by how shiny and nice Gnome looks, but you'll notice that doing stuff just doesn't feel smooth in Gnome, while KDE looks more rough but stuff just works and feels effortless.
I can give you an example, I like to connect my TV (which is 4k) to the computer, that is running 2x 1080p screens, to watch stuff while sitting in the couch, with Gnome it kinda worked, but I couldn't select different resolutions for different screens, and couldn't change the scaling of the UI for each screen. Changed to KDE and all of it just works, better than windows.
There was also some strange hassles with Nvidia control center but I think I manage to fix that back in Gnome.
The confidence that comes from knowing it was me that fffed up and not the GUI that isn't working as it should, is totally worth the slightly less polished looks IMO.

Audio production was the biggest issue because of my audio interface, but once I figured out how to replace the audio server to Pipewire and Wireplumber that are now baseline in Linux Mint 22 I am now able to use Reaper, Ardour, and Linux specific audio plug-ins. Had to abandon some old Waves plug-ins I have and Cakewalk that is an awesome DAW, but overall I got it to work.

I often had some real bs getting windows to connect to my network printers at home. I was blown away when I started bringing the newly installed linux laptops online and every one just automatically detected the printers on the network and set them up automatically. Seems like a small thing but it was just such a nice thing not to have to go and get the drivers and then configure each one manually. We have five laptops and 4 desktops at home so that was a nice time saver..on top of that it doesnt install the garbage that manufacturers install with the drivers on windows that I have to then go around again and block.

Graphics drivers are reduced in scope and ancient. Libraries are bug riddled. You'll waste a lot of time and energy on silly petty issues.

However, I had to reinstall Win95 FIVE times between Jan 1 and May 1, 1998 on my brand new Sony desktop. I went to Nobel Bookstore, where OS's were sold in the day, to get a new copy of OS2 for $200. There I happened to notice a paperback titled "Learn Linux in 24 Hours", by Bill Brush for $25. In the back of the paperback was a RH5.0 CD. I installed RH5 my Sony desktop was rock solid stable. In Sept of 1998 a SuSE ad featured KDE 1.0 Beta and I switched to it. Running KDE on SuSE on my Sony was also rock solid stable. There are at least two distros that I run on a daily basis and have no problems getting my normal work done. The only problem I have had is with games. Lots of stuff will run just fine on Steam, but many things will not.
That being said, Linux is doing the job on my productivity tasks, including managing video and photo work. I also do a lot of programming in various languages, both old and new, with no issues. NVIDIA support is a roll of the dice depending on what flavor of Linux you decide on. Arch is a real rice bowl.
I think Linux is getting there for the average person to use for their daily tasks, with the caveat that some specialized tasks may require a dual boot with windows sitting somewhere on the back burner. GRUB makes it easy.
EDIT: The other thing I found that can be a real PITA is getting file sharing to work. You can't imagine the hair I have pulled working to get Samba to work correctly. Finally managed it though.

You need to learn how to get your work done with Linux software. This is the hardest part, getting your work done is often a puzzle you solve with many software tools. There are a hell of a lot of good tools available on Linux, but you need to learn your tools in order to be able to pick the right tool for each task. Once you have learned your tools, any task can be done on Linux.

I actually switched from Windows to Linux in 2003 during the XP era when I began to see Microsoft's licensing giving them too much control over what the user does on their own computer. Even then I did what you say about laying out my needs vs wants. My needs were (and still are) purely personal, nothing job-related. I needed a stable and durable os, full control and customization through editable configuration files, and a minimalist environment free of bloat and automation. I ended up installing Slackware 9.1 and have been a Slacker since, and after trying several desktop environments I prefer Fluxbox. My father finally made the switch a few years ago and he loves Mint with the Cinnamon desktop. I'm not much of a gamer and mostly play retro PC and console games and got that covered with DOSBox, Wine, and a Raspberry Pi running RetroPie based on Debian Bullseye. And if there is *anything* I need Windows for I can do it in a VirtualBox VM.

I've been using Fedora Linux for 15 years and I don't miss Windoze one little bit. I had to use it at work, but although it sometimes felt like it, I wasn't there 24 hours a day 😋
The Cinnamon desktop, which I think was originally designed for Linux Mint, works well with Fedora and it's now the system of choice for both myself and my other half. I do still maintain a dual-boot system on one of my laptops though, as I do have certain specialist software that won't run under Wine, and I've never quite managed to get the hang of installing a virtual machine..! It only gets run up occasionally though, such as when the satnav needs its maps updating.
The way I look at it is, if Fedora is good enough for Linus Torvalds, who developed (and still maintains) the Linux kernel, it's good enough for us😋

Great choice, both on switching from Adobe and also Windows. At the office we moved all our Windows systems over to Linux after continuous problems with forced updates and system stability. We do mostly VFX and video post, so CentOS and Fedora were our distros of choice, both Red Hat style distros. CentOS (now Alma or Rocky Linux) is great for long term stability, while Fedora brings new features and cutting edge hardware support. There are a lot of 3D, VFX and postproduction applications that are supported or run well on these distros - in fact I think Rocky Linux is now the VFX Reference Platform recommendation for Linux workstations. And if you have multiple installs, then I think Linux really shines. There are so many tools to easy manage and batch configure or deploy new systems, from simple bash scripts to more complex things like Kickstart and Ansible. Deploying the OS, software and configs on a fresh system takes us less than 60 min, all scripted. Looking forward to your future video video posts!

Like many, i am increasingly concerned about Windows. I have a nephew that isn't to computer literate, and was tricked into upgrading from 10 to 11. My newest build is win11, which forced me to junk a lot of otherwise good hardware that simply would no longer work because of win 11 security features. Of course windows tracking and potentially becoming subscription is a major concern. I really hope your project works because i will follow you over the cliff if it does!! the distro you were/are really looking for was/is "nobara linux". based on fedora, its specifically made for gaming and video creation. it was made and is maintained by "glorious eggroll", the guy who made protonge (aka proton glorious eggroll)
he, ge, was/is either a fedora developer or maintainer (or both), i forget.
