You can utilize the dash command to slide rc. Down and dash, etc. forward slide rc u can just press dash then rc. Do you think double tapping a cardinal direction is more precise?

The level of expression that the RC system allows for in Strive is insane. I have a feeling the high levels of play will be all about who can make the most of their meter consistently.
This is the type of stuff that would take me AGES to figure out on my own. If I can convince my friends to try Strive, I know where to send them when they eventually, but inevitably ask "wtf does this red circle do?"
@@Shadowserpant00 The missions exist but how many people actually play them all? I stopped after movement and combo basics and just watched youtube tutorials since it takes a 5th of the time. I only recently went back and did it for the achievement.

I love watching your tutorials. I cannot afford to buy this game and it also seems way to complicated for me, but I love watching these tutorials just so I can better understand the mechanics for when I watch gameplay videos and tournaments in the near future.
Strive isn't that complicated compared to past titles imo. The game has a basic tutorial and a mission mode where you can essentially go through an in depth training guide with your character of choice. Just my experience playing GG1 and doing the basic missions was enough for the game to rank me as a 6th floor player (out of 10, basically putting me above half the playerbase after an hour of playing...somehow lol) If you can get it on sale someday its definitely newcomer friendly.

I'm amazed with how much depth on Strive's roman cancel has yet to be discovered! I've seen a a Potemkin start off an anti air hitcomfirm into a blue RC for a much stronger combo than the usual Red RC.

I only briefly glanced at matches for past Guilty Gear games, and I can tell this game's Roman Cancels were adjusted to be a lot more beginner friendly. Now I might be able to learn it lol
Naturally more vids and guides coming in the future too! Right now working on more generalized stuff as I slowly work away in the background getting character specific stuff ready. Also streams are becoming regular again so make sure to check out the twitch channel every now and then! This week will be doing watch-alongs with many of the e3 events, sneak in a strive stream or two, and starting next week streams should be on a regular schedule again(not sure days yet, will update) with plenty of strive gameplay!

I've played GG off and on with someone who basically only plays Sol. His version of "helping" me figure this stuff out is to just tell me to watch pros and copy them until I figure it out, or go into the game's combo training mode. He's not a great teacher, obviously, so I just kinda... ignored RCs entirely. Something like this is super helpful compared to the baptism by fire I'm used to getting.
Seems like RC was a huge emphasis for strive moreso than any other game in the series. I often wonder if the characters were simplified just to force players to get comfortable with using RC as the gateway to crazy stuff. Love the video btw
Thank you. When I was playing the beta I was struggling to understand how to use these outside of Red Roman cancel for easy hit confirms or confirms off of moves that I normally can’t combo off of.
@@tajaikeaton6388 they are working on adding crossplay, so it doesn't really matter and because of rollback you can keep playing even if the population declines.

I am waiting for it as well, and I am glad I am not the only one waiting. it helps me feel less like I am missing out. Honestly, I think PC play will be more interesting because not having to hold a controller frees up your fingers so you can use them to execute the combos and moves you need to do. I have a feeling when I start playing I will get flashbacks of my childhood when I remember how it felt playing Mortal Combat or street fighter in the old arcades in the 90’s. I'm relatively new to guilty gear only playing the first two games when I was a kid and only playing revelations in my teenage years. I never took it super seriously but it looks like a lot of fun and this video seriously helped. Me and my brother are trying to get super into it.

About Gold RC: Since it wasn't explained as much besides the psychological factors, which do play a big part but don't sound like much worth. Here's some credit to it: -You can use it right before your R. I. S. C. Gauge (pink gauge) is maxed, effectively saving you from way bigger dmg and Heavy Counter hit startups. -Some people use Burst on Block, well in this game you can do that instead and save for Burst for when you actually get hit / use Gold Burst -Naturally, you wanna reposition yourself, maybe you know your frame data and know you can counter hit them into a combo instead.

I'm laughing because I accidentally found out about Roman Cancel cancels when I was using Potemkin, and it was exactly the example you showed in the vid! At the time I was like, "Is this inconsistent? Why does it feel like the buster came out faster than the last purple RC?" Then I see this video and think, "I wonder if THIS is how you can cancel that charge move into the grab" and turns out that was exactly the case

When i saw the roman cancel cancel my mind intantly went "what if i did that on potemkin" I also didnt know about sliding down, potem has new movement and mixups options now.

Best way is to get a house session going, don't worry ABOUT Showing them RC, if the Graphics and move set can't get them hooked nothing will

more friendly execution wise, but strive RC's are far more in depth than any of the older GG games ever were.

You can RC drift in non-cardinal directions, using the dash macro + diagonal.
how do you write that in notation? like 9DRRC would be up-forward drift red roman cancel?

About Gold RC: Since it wasn't explained as much besides the psychological factors, which do play a big part but don't sound like much worth. Here's some credit to it:
-You can use it right before your R. I. S. C. Gauge (pink gauge) is maxed, effectively saving you from way bigger dmg and Heavy Counter hit startups.
-Some people use Burst on Block, well in this game you can do that instead and save for Burst for when you actually get hit / use Gold Burst
-Naturally, you wanna reposition yourself, maybe you know your frame data and know you can counter hit them into a combo instead.

It just didn’t say “Roman cancel”, it just said you were macroing three buttons to one

I'm laughing because I accidentally found out about Roman Cancel cancels when I was using Potemkin, and it was exactly the example you showed in the vid! At the time I was like, "Is this inconsistent? Why does it feel like the buster came out faster than the last purple RC?" Then I see this video and think, "I wonder if THIS is how you can cancel that charge move into the grab" and turns out that was exactly the case
This was great. I think the only thing that I wished to see but didn't here was some talk about how the Yellow RC compares to plain old Bursting.

Wow, I've never used Roman Cancel in my life of playing Guilty Gear, and I think I have had a mental block my whole life regarding it, but after watching this I think I get it enough to apply it to my gameplay! That would be a First in 20+ years of my life.

If I start playing Strive, I figured Potemkin would always be my “having fun” pick. Purple and Yellow cancels especially seem like they’ll be crucial since his movement and defensive options don’t appear to be too great
