- We decided to play something we’ve been performing during our “The Watch plays Genesis” shows, a song brimful of emotions that we really like so much. We’re delighted to have our friend Mr John Hackett playing with us this quarantine version of “The Lamia”, proving that music brings people together even in difficult times.

Since my days as a university student, I have listened to Genesis. The Lamia is one of my favorite songs, this is the best cover I've ever heard.

@@rodolfodanilomunozurmeneta882 They are OK instrumentally, but not even close to Simone 's vocals. He has a sound all of his own, but brings an emotional quality to the vocals on a par with Peter Gabriel. Very few cover bands seem to be able to manage that. The bottom line is how the band affects us as listeners, and right now The Watch are doing it for me when it comes to Genesis music.

Je ré écoute tout ce que je trouver sur TH-cam après le super concert de samedi passé. soirée de rêve tout contre la scène. Vraiment en contact quasi physique avec les musiciens. Je n'ai pas compris quand tout s'est arrêté après 2 heures. Je croyais que çà commençait à peine. J'étais transporté par cette musique, par ces mélodies. Après le concert, les 5 musiciens sont directement venus au bar discuter avec nous. En toute simplicité. Ces moments tellement rares se doivent d'être appréciés à leur juste valeur. Merci Simone, Fracesco, Giorgio, Valerio, Matteo. Et surtout à l'année prochaine. Etienne
Que performance sensacional! Além da escolha de muito bom gosto (essa canção é belíssima... uma das minhas favoritas do Genesis) todos os músicos são excelentes e tocam com o mesmo sentimento da versão original, e com exatidão. O cantor tem um timbre muito parecido com o do Peter Gabriel. Obrigado por compartilhar o vídeo. 🏆🌟✌

To have John H playing with them they would have to be exceptional. And they are! The guitarist has Steve's tone down perfectly. The vocalist sounds so much like Pete but also manages to add an extra something of his own to the phrasing that enhances the song even further. What can one say? Magnifico! Grazie! Oh my goodness, just discovered this. Fantastic version, brilliant musicianship and outstanding vocal - like listening to Mr Gabriel himself!
I have previously commented about how good this band is, but that doesnt do them justice. This version of one of the most moving pieces from the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is far more than note perfect; it has feeling and a sensitivity which is truly brilliant
It's slightly different from the version I remember from 50 years ago, but it's just as magical. Guys, you are doing a really good job, for these 7 minutes I was 20 years old again! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Maybe my favourite Tony Banks composition, the melancholy of both harmony and melody gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, simply awesome. Besides, Gabriel performance is so emotional, really one of the top song of all their production, if not the best, for me of course.

The Lamia was a great track from the lamb lies down on broadway and a great performance Tony Banks played a great piano in the song.

I am flabbergasting inside my neurons and ears... This is definitely the next "classical music cover" phenomenon.
Rossetti is the most Gabriel-esque singer I have ever heard! And the arrangement is spot on! If you don't look at the video, you could be forgiven to think Genesis had come togethet to give Lamia another go at the studio.

👏👏👏 There are pieces especially Genesis, you can't alter, they just don't bear it. This is one of those you can't play better than the original. Listen "Genesis Revisited 2" from Hackett band. They play this piece brilliant and the Guitar solos at the end are just extraterrestrial.

As a born-again believer I may not necessarily agree with the lyrics/concepts of a song (including some "visceral" lyrics on this song), but I still enjoy this song's melody very much...wonderful, wonderful job, guys...

I spent my teen time listenning to Genesis in the 70s and guess what, I still listen to that great music. The Lamia is one of my favorite. These guys give a very good version of it. Thank you for sharing !

I’d love to read a comment by one of the Genesis band members. They have to be impressed. Plus, this, an online project subject to “latency issues” but edited magnificently. If this was recorded live, I am totally mystified.
