That Marin frame is a beaut! I'm trying to get into the habit of once a year. Taking off the mech giving it a deep clean and replacing the shifter cable and jockey wheels. Maybe even a new chain.
Sound advice, doesn't hurt to completely strip your bike every now and then, and give it a proper clean. You can have the cheapest or most expensive components in the world, but if you don't look after them, they won't last long either way. Love the colour scheme on the new frame, looks really good.
Yep mostly ride 650x47’s. Occasionally put in 700’s off the Mountain bike with 43mm rubber..but then go back to the 650’s. Nice ride and due to the overall dia. being same as 700x28’s just feels bit more nippy!
I thought about getting an ultrasound cleaner to thoroughly sort out filthy components.....I still am....What do you think fella ? I wouldn't mind trying 650b wheels on my gravel bike just for the fatter tyre option....I've just got to do a bit of research and see if my BB and crank will be too low....Hmmm ? I do most certainly like the look of that new frameset.....Good one Dave.
I was also thinking the same about the ultrasound cleaner, I think you can find them quite cheap. My bike has a low bb, but I find if I run a 50mm tyre the overall diameter isn't that different to a 700 with a 32/34mm tyre.
@@DaveNoakes Cheers for the info about 650b. I run 43c tyres on 700 rims and it would be good to chuck on the spare wheelset with 50c tyres...It'd be like 30 odd years ago when I started MTBing. As for the ultrasound cleaner, it'd have to be big enough to cope with an Eagle 11-50 cassette for me.....Hmmm ?
nice video dave. love my marin so much. any advice how to remove the seatpost when it stucks in the frame? wanted to change the original, but can't get it out
That’s a beaut of a frame. Been thinking of switching from 700s to 650s on my gravel bike so that I can ride some gnarlier stuff. Excited to see the finished result. By the way, out of curiosity as Marin are one of your sponsors, do you have to return the old frame or do they let you keep it?
Thanks Ash, I really liked the switch to 650. I do get to keep the old frame, its been pretty battered over the past couple of years but it'll be kept as a spare...just in case.
Gravel Bike = Regular Bike with thicker tyres , whether they be 26", 27" or even larger....but the wheel definitely has been reinvented here... Nice Bicycle though fella...

That's what I was thinking.

Enjoy the bike build vids Dave👍🏼 Looks ace. 650’s do look sweet.
Thank you Deb, im definitely leaning towards 650
Nice bike build :) it's always good to strip and lube things regularly
Couldn't agree more.
I'd love to watch you (struggle with) learning how to install & bleed hydro brakes. BTW, "Rides of Japan" has a great tutorial video.
Totally going to check that out! Thanks!

Nice one Dave, love the new frame excellent paint work. The old one wasn't bad either. 700c with tan walls!
Fair Play Dave 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Lovin ya new frame. I normally clean my bike after every ride loads tell me I don’t need to 🤷Question Can you over clean a bike
Thanks mate, I don't think you can over clean a bike!
Love the new colour way, very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
700 , 38 or 40mm.. just loves my gravelking ss.. fast Rolling..😊
New bar tape Dave the tape is chewed up and your headlands will look much better
but what colour? black?
Ooooh... 650 or 700... no idea really... nice build. I need to give my derailleur a tidy up...
I think I need to do my other derailleurs 🙀
Looks sweet Dave congrats nice build 😀
Thanks 👍
20” with slicks 😘
Nice colour frameset. Will look great with gumwall s. 650 for looks . 700c if riding 50 % or more road vs gravel.
Thanks I love the colour! think I'll need to set up gum walls on both sets of wheels.

Thanks, what material is the frame/seatpost?
It's the headlands 2. So carbon frame with the original seatpost, aluminum

@@DaveNoakes that’s pretty cool that you get to keep the frame, at this rate you’re gonna need a bigger house 😂
As a smaller frame rider, for me it would be 650B all day. But for you I can understand the draw of 700C. I still say go for the girth! 😉
It's all about the girth. 😂
Yes stop waffling and crack on. Stop pointing your finger at us in anarchy 😂

I have a single speed mtb that I barely even clean the drivetrain on so 🤦♂️😂
Ultradynamico MARS jff 27.5
that a tyre or space ship? 😂
700s!!!
and just WHERE was Munchkin??
Im sorry! Next one!
650x55 mate.
